looks like they are saying there is 1mw power cabinet — so unless they have more than 1 cabinet, you could see conditions where charge rate is attenuated given the requisite configuration of vehicles, temps, and SOCs. (1000/8=125 average)

For those of us that have the misfortune of growing up in Sioux City, we know that unless Tesla is driving this hard from their end, the locals won’t be enthusiastic about pushing this to completion :)

With the V3s -- does it work the same way as V2? Meaning two stalls shares a stack -- so in theory each stall would max out at 125kw? I'm really hoping they didn't cut it to 1:3.

Let's face it, they *NEEDED* to move the SC's away from the entrance. This location has mostly been unusable for long distance travelers due to the test drive vehicles and local owners that want the best up-front spots available, sans valet.

Maybe this is just my perception, but Super Charger progress seems to have really slowed nation-wide recently. Given the current progress in 2017, I don't see them coming even close to their 2017 end-of-year projection map.

Last time I visited SF I had to trickle "E" at the hotel @ 3MPH. Good to know that soon I won't have to do that!

Of course -- Just remember to factor in the 3 hours of super charger idling fees into your budget. :D

Well, Tesla only has about 13 hours to make good on their 2016 Super Charger map and turn these things on.

It looks like they have taken the fence down that was surrounding the bays, but no additional progress besides that.

Does that mean Kansas City for the Lincoln SC? Seems to be the closest show room.

Update as of this AM. Looks like transformer is placed but probably not fully installed. Stalls have zip ties around the cables. Getting closer!!

The other thing to consider here is what type of 'red-lining' you are talking about. Launches certainly red-line torque, but they don't necessarily red-line power, and therefore amperage. If the goal is to control red-lining power, then limiting amperage would certainly do that, but I'm not...

Interesting. I would expect limiting top-end amperage to have no effect until around 25 mph, at a minimum. A P100D/P90D producing max torque at 10mph is probably only using 25% of the max pack amperage. Unless the limit is a function of the current speed? Very very strange stuff going on here.

Sort of weird that they would base it on "Launches" ? (Does this mean launch mode, or just colloquial 'launches' from stand still?) It isn't really even possible to hit the max amps until around 30-40mph -- what if I just launch my car to 25 mph? I won't even hit max amps so why limit it...

And then I can go the other direction to make it to Iowa City, IA :)

I was hoping this route back to Iowa would be complete this year for Xmas -- but it looks like it won't quite be there. Even assuming the Lincoln SC goes online, the route on the way back from Ogallala to Denver seems to be quite a gamble in the winter in my S85D. Oh well -- one more year in...

That location looks very promising. I've visited that gas station before, and that is about as good as it gets for a Super Charger location in that part of Colorado. Right next to a gas station and a pizza hut, and right off I-80.

I pinged HyVee corpo on twitter regarding the issue and location and they said they would notify the store.

Certainly seems like it would be directly to the north or south of the I-76 exit in Brush near the Wendy's/McDonalds. I'm guessing they haven't shipped the gear or started construction yet. Hopefully there will be more info soon.

Indeed. I think we are all of the opinion that a SuperCharger on I-76 is a requirement long term. Hopefully we hear something soon.

If we take the Tesla SC team person at their word -- it would seem that we should be able to see at least some boxed SC's somewhere along I-76, depending on what they mean by "in the midst of construction". Keep your eyes peeled if you live or travel on that route :)

Yes that makes sense, another SC would be nice to have for that leg. I'm also hoping for a super charger around the Grand Island area on I80 to split the 194 mile leg from Gothenburg to Lincoln.

At 208 miles, the trip from the Ogallala SC to the Denver SC is definitely doable with most trims, but a Sterling or Brush SC would definitely help shore up the uncertainty, and make the trip possible for the base trims.

Which trim to you have? Google has this at 193 miles, and I am guessing the speed limit is less than 70 mph. EDIT: Looks like you have the 85? That distance should be no problem in the S85

Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Owners ---- The Director of the National Advanced Driving Simulator at the University of Iowa is looking for a demonstration of AutoPilot. He, and a grad student, would be needing a ride-along for roughly ~1 hour to demo AutoPilot and perhaps parallel parking, etc...

Despite the projection map, it looks like the I-80 route from Denver back to Iowa won't be completed this year. Looks like another Christmas of driving home without AutoPilot :(
