Jaywalker sought after smashing into Tesla (Blue Tesla X) in Bellevue

That's freaky watching that video. Always creeps me out how close we all are to some tragic event totally disrupting our lives. Jaywalker deserved worse but I'm happy no one else was hurt.

Opti Coat Pro Plus, on wheels and windows?

Ask your Authorized Opti installer to do what we do for our clients; apply Opti-Glass to half your windshield. Drive it around a couple weeks and see what you think. If you don't like it, we polish it back off for free. If you do like it we coat the rest of the windshield and then you pay.

You beat me to it! We're getting a Model 3 to use as a loaner car. Keep up the good work man, loved meeting you at the Optimum class awhile back.

    New Oregon Superchargers (2018)

It's cool seeing Tesla's further and further into the bush. Was in Clarkston and Pullman last weekend and counted four, including one Model X.

    Is Detroit Lake worth it?

Detroit is definitely in the path of totality and the weather forecast is for crystal clear skies. It's in the mountains and at 10:30am it should be plenty easy to see the sun. The biggest challenge will be traffic and crowds. It's a 2 lane highway clear from Stayton so I would start very...

Love the white interior, but . . .

Interesting but certainly annoying problem. I would research interior dyeing professionals in your area to see if they can do a matte black on that portion to reduce the glare but still match the color and feel of the rest of the trim nearby. Would love to see your final solution.

P100D Delivery Disaster, trying to resolve it with Tesla

Man sorry to hear about this problem. It's gotta be frustrating beyond comprehension! As I was reading your OP I was screaming to myself "don't take delivery, leave it on the truck!!!" I've dealt with similar issues when buying used cars, or even just paying a freight company to move a car...

    Vendor New Car Cosmetic Inspections?

Why would you get a brand new car inspected? I mean, it's new... it's brand spanking new Jason! Watch this video in full screen to really see the flaws I'm pointing out... We have found that over 70% of new Teslas have significantly noticeable flaws in their paint finish. If this concerns you...

    Paint Protection Film Service Experience

Rarely do we know the brand of film because it was usually applied years prior and owners seldom keep records or remember, or maybe it was already applied to the car when they bought it. The point is that if the paint is substandard it won't matter much what brand the film is. We've also removed...

    Paint Protection Film Service Experience

Something I rarely hear mentioned until it's too late when talking about PPF... that is what happens when the PPF has served it's purpose and you go to remove it. What kind of guarantee is the shop giving you that when removing the film years later it won't pull up the existing paint? We see...

    Is Detroit Lake worth it?

No it's not, but it's cool to see the lake bed and how high that short bridge is. I LOVE the drive from Detroit Lake to Sisters (unless you get stuck behind a slow truck) because it is so scenic and twisty, ESPECIALLY right before you crest HooDoo/Santiam Pass area where that forest fire burned...

How much paint protection is too much?

I'm not a huge fan of most PPF. It has its place depending on each car's individual design but to me it's like putting plastic wrap on that nice couch or lamp shade you bought. You're not going to get a quality paint job on your entire car for $5,000 that's for sure, but at worst you would...

    Bugs in Tail Light!

That picture seriously made me laugh out loud! We can tell this bothers you quite a bit to go through all the effort to write it on the tape. I'd be interested in other's input on disassembling the lights to clean inside then reseal. We see the moisture problem quite a bit here in the soggy...

"Teslas have a soft clear coat." Fiction or fact?

Late model black GMC/Chevy pickups have the softest clear coat we've ever dealt with; I love to work on Tesla paint far more than GM or Subaru due to this factor alone. As far as comparing how soft Tesla paint is compared to the rest of the industry my opinion is they're middle of the road, and...

Vendor Great time with PDX Tesla club!

We braved the 100+ temps last weekend here in Beaverton, Oregon to get together and do an informal demo on how to use Optimum's new One Step No Rinse product. We had over 14 Model S's, a beautiful blue Model X, and a whole bunch of smiling owners all learning how to take better care of their...

Driving on the sand? Ocean Shores

Food for thought... we perform undercarriage steam-cleaning on vehicles, and every summer we get many jobs (4-10) from weekend warriors who've driven on the beach then acquire the most horrendous rancid rotten fish odor in their cars a couple days later. It's great work for us at $300-$500 a...

    Plastic protective film

"I think one of the reasons it may have turned out well is my detailer, Colorado Detail, paint corrects the finish before applying any film." Absolutely the way to go! To clarify what you're saying though is that side-by-side your PPF is shinier than the paint corrected area?

    Rims chipping off

You need to find a reputable wheel refinishing shop. I'm in Oregon and don't know any in your area so you'll have to do some digging yourself. We had a 2015 Tesla S in our shop yesterday that was showing signs of the flaking that many owners experience so it's definitely not uncommon. The...

    Plastic protective film

Mike I'd love to see your Model X! It's refreshing to hear of someone who isn't disappointed with the finish of their PPF compared to a properly paint-corrected finish.
  24. F

    Plastic protective film

If you decide to have PPF installed, do not cheap out, go with Xpel or something equivalent. All PPF will make your car look to have that wavy orange-peel effect, and also won't shine as much properly cared for factory paint, but the cheaper films will be even worse and can be more difficult to...

Charging Travel Trailer Battery from Tesla

I believe that the 11.8-12.8v you're seeing is enough to "trickle to the trailer", but it's more a question of the amps that will be delivered, the wiring sizing, length to the battery etc., things you've already mentioned so you're obviously aware.

Charging Travel Trailer Battery from Tesla

I know you probably already know this, but it's helpful to keep one of these cheap testers in your tow rig to test your charging pin occasionally. My charging pin blew its fuse but I never knew it until it was too late to fix, at night, towing a strange trailer, sideways rain, etc etc.

Vendor Thank you to the Oregon Tesla community

With 29 Opti-Coat Pro Plus installs it's been fun getting to follow new Tesla owners on their journey from the joys of "brand-new first day of delivery", to the panic stricken "oh crap a pine tree just unloaded sap all over my hood!" moments. Replacing my Model X with a New One. Seat Choices??

No armrests in the back is definitely not very comfortable for your passengers, but how often do you have adults in the back and for how long is their average trip? Thinking of your passengers is certainly admirable but it's YOU that will be in the car every single time so make sure you are...

    Michelin Stealth Wipers

Remember that it is the changing of the friction resistance that can induce chattering. So it is not surprising that sometimes the application of window coatings make the chattering worse, and sometimes it cures the problem.

    Tesla Glass in Model 3

This is how I was thinking. Cool idea but there's a lot of ground to be made before any real charging capabilities are to be seen.
  40. F

    Michelin Stealth Wipers

Well there are a number of factors that contribute even beyond what I originally mentioned. There is length of the wiper arm; the longer it is the more susceptible to chattering it will be. The "play" in any of the joints between the actual wiper motor and the blade will all contribute to...

Clearplex on windshield causing chattering wipers?

Chattering seems to be a common problem on the Model S. I did a short write-up in another thread.
  42. F

    Michelin Stealth Wipers

Windshield wiper skipping or chattering as has been described in this thread (one direction only) is usually caused by the wiper blade itself not "flopping over" when it changes direction. Some quick clarification of terms: * The wiper "blade" refers to the rubber part that actually wipes and...

    Old farts reminiscing about computers

I'm 45 and I just think it's weird to know that we remember the world before computers, then they were introduced to us in school around the early 80's (grade school for me) so by default we became the computer generation, you know, generation X! But now, things are advancing so quickly that I...

Vendor I don't follow Twitter much but Elon's a tease yesterday!

I'm sure most of you have seen Elon's tweet from yesterday... "Tesla product unveiling on the 17th (unexpected by most), followed by Tesla/SolarCity on the 28th" Hmmm, my guess is the rumored ride-share program to rival Uber and Lyft but that's just a wild stab. Anyone have an inside line?

    Charging to 100% w/ 110V

In the early days if a client's car was staying the night we would charge them overnight on a 110v outlet. Wow that was slow and we wondered if anyone was doing that as their only means of charging. While on the 110v subject... I was staying at a hotel in Pullman, WA last year and noticed a...

    Front doors stuck shut

We had this exact same thing happen on the very first Model X we had in our shop. We thought we were just ignorant to some special trick to opening the front doors but found out it was this same issue. Not sure if the owner every had the issue resolved at a later date or not, but it sure...
