    EV6 to a Model Y

I've been fascinated by the EV6's two-paddle regen and HUD, and would welcome your comments about both.

    Hyundai Ioniq 5

Regen paddles, zero regen setting (for highway hypermiling), HUD, and charge port on right rear (for US curbside charging access and short charging cable in home garage) are features of the Ioniq 5 that I find attractive.

Will my bicycle and family fit?

Simple: take spouse + kids (or kid seats) + dogs + 29er (bike, not boat) to a Tesla showroom and try it!

    New Vampire Drain

Thank you for this reminder. Normally the key is indeed stored far from the car, but I had forgotten to take it out of my cargo pants and had been doing a lot of work in the garage. I'll take the cover off the car, reboot it, ensure everything is off, and stow the key. Thanks.

    New Vampire Drain

2020.48.37.1 early VIN Model S85, upgraded MCU1, in garage 50°F, float charger attached to 12v battery (been doing that for years and 12v is still great), display Energy Saver ON and Always Connected OFF. Car had been quietly asleep for months with zero power draw, but after a couple of drives...

    Weird issue with 12V Battery

cab, sorry to hear. If it were the dc-dc then when you turn the car on (just by entering it) I would expect the 12v battery voltage to keep dropping as the car's active 12v load would be greater. If the battery voltage goes up, then there is perhaps a different problem? My MS85 is used...

    Weird issue with 12V Battery

Whenever the car is ON the dc-dc converter charges the 12v battery at 14.4v, at room ambient temperatures. Trouble is, as soon as the car turns OFF, its vampire load is significant (I measure 1.25A on my 2013MS85) and pulls down the 12v battery, easily below 12.5vdc. Without any load, the AGM...

What do you display on the Instrument Cluster?

For me, left doesn't matter as the car is only used for long trips and I always have Nav enabled, which overrides everything. On the right I have all four Trips enabled, with Trip B = Lifetime and Trip A being cumulative for whatever long-distance trip we're taking. To me, the most important...

Give ONE reason why you purchased a Tesla

Used pre-AP MS85 (to supplement my family's two i-MiEVs) as the only viable long-distance BEV, replacing our Gen1 Honda Insight (77mpg lifetime). Used exclusively for long trips and almost never driven locally. Since purchase, criss-crossed the US and Canada from the SF Bay Area (Key West, Nova...

I’m very happy with Version 9

Thank you. I, too, hope that Tesla has been listening to the many astute comments regarding the v.9 UI issues and comes out with an elegant v.10. Meanwhile, I'm still hanging in there with v.8.

4 startup problems caused by "Energy Savings ON"

Tomas, thank you for posting this. I have a 2013 S 85 that is only used for seriously-long (cross-country) trips; the rest of the time it sits in my garage as I consider this car way too big for in-town driving. It can sit unused for many weeks at a time, and thus the vampire drain has been a...

I’m very happy with Version 9

As the owner of a pre-AP 2013 Model S85 running v.2018.34, I still haven't installed v.9. My Tesla is used exclusively for very long trips, racking up >25Kmiles/year. Could someone please spell out the applicable improvements and their advantages for my Classic that would induce me to 'upgrade'...

Are we ever going to get ChadeMO?

Having now made three extensive trips to Canada from the SF Bay Area in my MS85 where daily CHAdeMO sessions kept us going up there, I can't imagine anyone in Canada getting a Model 3 without having CHAdeMO as their backup at this point in history. Great to hear that Tesla is working on it...

Supercharger - San Jose, CA - Coleman Ave (LIVE 31 Aug 2018, 12 stalls)

Well, I talked a friend into getting a Model 3 and they're coming down from the Sierras on their first longer trip in November for a luncheon meeting, with the San Jose Coleman Avenue SuperCharger being ideally located for all parties ... BUT, every time I've checked it's been full! Is there an...

Supercharger - Daly City, CA (LIVE 5 Oct 2018, 40 urban stalls)

I counted 39 stalls. Notified PlugShare to code this location as "Tesla Supercharger" and not "Tesla" as presently shown. During holiday shopping frenzy, access to this top floor may take some time. What a great spot to cover with solar panels, as this location is sure exposed.

Poor GPS range estimation since update

Galinette, my take is similar to yours, with yet additional vagaries over the last couple of years. I use my 2013 S85 exclusively for long trips, having put on over 50,000 miles in two years, including a couple of very extended cross-country jaunts (and presently on one up to Jasper National...

    2013 MS60 Driver Dash/Instrument Cluster Random Reboots

Also have the IC resets about once every ten minutes after installing v.2018.28.5 Since I only use my 2013 MS85 for long trips, I always have Nav active. Sent e-mail to Tesla Customer Service who responded - "We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this concern. Have you tried performing...

    Regen Braking Preferred 3 settings.

Can anyone confirm that AWD Model 3 regen is higher than RWD? Has it been quantified? Still waiting for higher regen for my MS85 and an on-screen slider to vary its max setting while driving as I like low regen for long-distance highway travel but prefer very high regen for all other driving.

How did it end up naming P3D in this forum?

In my discussions elsewhere I've been using the abbreviation TMS85 to identify my car. Why not preface all the nomenclature with the letter "T"? TM3 assures no confusion with BMW's M3.

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

Regeneration is one of the electric car's distinguishing features, yet on the Tesla it is really dumbed-down for the 'masses' on the S/X/3. Since the new Roadster is an enthusiasts' car, could we please have features such as - 1. Adjustable/programmable regen. Please give us many more options...

    Tesla vs Hybrids

SergeyB, thank you for your survey but I am a bit confused. 1. I only drive EVs and have no interest in Hybrids because they contain ICEs, and thus the Hybrid section of your survey is inapplicable to me and I did not know how to convey that in your survey. I tried skipping that section but the...

    The "GOOD IDEAS" thread

    1. Manual heater ON/OFF control, a fresh air ventilation setting, and a "Heater ON" indication. 2. Option of Constant Power for Cruise Control, in addition to the present (somewhat inefficient) Constant Speed option. 3. Option of zero regeneration when easing up on the go-pedal, allowing the car...

CA owner, sales tax, registration, license fees?

I just received registration renewals for my electric vehicles: 2013 Tesla MS85 Registration Fee $258 License Fee $503 County/District Fee $21 TOTAL $782 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV Registration Fee $133 License Fee $37 County/District Fee $21 TOTAL $191 2001 Corbin Sparrow Registration Fee $110...

How many of you are electric cars only?

11kW Solar, all-electric house, all-electric yard tools, daily drivers are two Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, with the MS85 reserved for only long trips (50K miles in two years). The i-MiEV with trailer hitch does just fine pulling small boats and the utility trailer which suffices for lumber-yard runs...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

Provide at least three regen levels, with at least one setting which is much more powerful than the present Model S and which brings the car to a complete stop. In addition, provide a regen paddle by the steering wheel - but, unlike the Bolt paddle, have regen be proportional to the distance the...

Exactly How Strong is the Regen?

For years I drove my Gen1 Honda Insight modified with MIMA which gave me fingertip joystick control over it's electric motor regeneration (and acceleration). On the old Aptera forum I was encouraging them to develop paddle regen control. Six years ago I bought the Mitsubishi i-MiEV rather than...

    California FasTrak Positioning Requirements

Sorry if this was already covered ... my experience - Since my fairly old FasTrak transponder doesn't register through the windshield, over the years I, too, have been billed via their license plate readers on bridges. No problem. Holding the transducer out the window when passing through the...

Musk Says ‘Major Navigation Overhaul’ Coming in 2018

Having just completed a >12,000mile tour from California <--> Nova Scotia, I look forward to further improvements of our sometimes 'interesting' nav system. While you're at it, please get back to simplifying our interaction with the screen and the silly need to multiply-tap it.

PlugShare now optimized for the Model S

Having three issues with PlugShare on the Tesla browser, and wondering if they're simply cockpit errors on my part - 1) Stations disappear, depending on zoom levels 2) 'Clicking' on a station does not bring up the station information 3) Car's position does not show up on the PlugShare map

15 cars in line, 2 hour wait

Having done many trips between SF Bay Area and Oregon, I don't recall ever having seen more than three cars charging at Corning at one time. A coffee at Starbucks or a walk to the Safeway a couple of blocks away for some snacks is sufficient charging time (at <80%SoC) to get up to either Shasta...

New to the Tesla Family! What is/was your first Tesla road trip?!

Last year I bought a used MS85 (thus assuring it was debugged and fully burned-in) and immediately put on over 10,000 miles driving from the SF Bay Area to Key West and up to Virginia then meandering through the MidWest visiting friends before returning home. This was followed by an extensive...

    Supercharger - Ukiah, CA (8 V2 stalls)

Last week I stopped at the Ukiah supercharger and backed in normally, not realizing that the pavement was buckled at station 2A. Pulling out, I heard a scraping sound, the result being: Added a CAUTION note on both Plugshare and the superchargers app. Sent a note to Tesla on Sunday but...

Dual charger set up ? I will have two model S's to charge every night.

As the owner of multiple BEVs, I completely agree with tomas. 12A at 120vac overnight is perfectly adequate to sustain 50 miles/day.

Would you rock solid/flat/smooth wheels for more range?

My plea goes for not only seriously-aero wheels, but clip-on rear fender skirts. In my book, function trumps currently-in-vogue aesthetics (sorry for the use of the "t" word).

    Wheel Skirts

Thank you all who responded. I understand the issues with snow, ice, and mud; however, being a 12-year owner of Insights with their skirts and no issues at all, the concerns are very location-dependent. I always have the option of removing the skirts in snowy conditions. Conclusion - no...

    Wheel Skirts

My first post (long-term occasional lurker). As a 20-year owner of various EVs, presently the owner of three i-MiEVs, three Corbin Sparrows, and a couple of EV conversions and a Gen1 Honda Insight (77mpg lifetime), my interest in the Tesla is driven strictly by the need for a long-distance...
