Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Just sold 845 shares for 508k€ to clear the profit (french taxes, I won't go into details here), pay for my dream (2021 Blue Model 3 LR sitting in front of my window), and pay for the futur swimming pool and solar panels. Then bought again 700 shares. I'll probably have to sell a lot of it to...

    8.1 Easter Egg!

IIRC, Google even asks developers to have funny side-projects, to work on useless things, to explore whatever ideas they have, to be creative. It allows them to expand their skillset, and sometimes one of those funny-silly-project becomes a real project. Gmail was one of those.

    Model 3 Dimensions

119 inches (3.02m) is HUGE ! It would make a huge radius turn, really not good for some narrow parking lots in EU... My monospace (Peugeot 5008) only has a 107 inches wheelbase.

What type of car is Model 3 replacing for you?

Voted ICE Sedan, but my 2004 toyota Corolla is a hatchback. It seems to be a reaaaally small car for you americans, but in Europe it's a well selling segment. http://photos.auto-selection.com/fiche-technique/toyota-corolla-p0011770.jpg

What is your budget for the Model lll?

My budget is up to 300 TSLA shares :D I'll probably want a bigger battery, nice color/seats/interior/rims, and options like autopilot/air suspensions. I expect between $50-60k.

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

The peugeot 508 sw is a true hatchback, a bit longer than a BMW 3-series (20cm/8inches), and good looking when you see it on the road. Not too much bits and blops everywhere, it's not as pure as a Tesla thought. It probably misses some aggressiveness on the back to fit the Tesla style.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2013

I'll follow with attention your investigations in battery technology, JRP3. Seems like you're able to think with a 5 to 10 year timeframe, I'm quite amazed

    Model S Cabrio

I was thinking that using some small rear hinged car doors could allow to have a 4 doors cabriolet. For example a volkswagen EOS, but you add a rear hinged door (like the RX8) between the front door and the rear wheel. EOS RX8 You would need to strengthen the floor of the car like...

GEN III - When will we see the first prototype

It would mean they would developp 2 interior finish, and maybe 2 "production lines" for the interior. It's not the way they choosed for the supercharger option: it's installed in every 60KwH Model S (and they hope users will opt for it during the life of the car). Having several levels of...

GEN III - When will we see the first prototype

I suspect Model S is that wide because it needs to carry 3 kids of the Musk family, with child seats. Shrinking the Model S (for the width) is not difficult battery wise, it's the the motor+gearbox+PEM that is already a master of compacity. Getting that smaller is probably most difficult than...

Video: Is Tesla America's Best Automaker?

But when the supercharger network will be deployed, you will be able to say : If you want to live like a nomad for a year and drive free distance every day - then the Tesla is the only one for you. Pretty cool

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

Here in France (cheap electricity), I see many delivery fast-foods (pizza, sushi) going for electric cars (twizy, iMiev).

Model S can be recharged faster than filling a gas tank.

You don't swap the battery under the car, but you swap the car above one battery to another ? Or your battery gets swapped while you're in an automatic car wash ?

    UNOFFICIAL: Bluestar Pricing and Options

:crying: Remember the time when some websites were awfully designed for smaller screen, and you had to use the left/right scrollbar to see the full width ? :crying: I'd rather have 2 option panels than 1 I have to scroll through.
  24. H

    UNOFFICIAL: Bluestar Pricing and Options

Indeed the panels each use about half of the screen, but the options popups and panels use almost full of the 17" screen. You still would have to update all of those options panels. So still a good piece of work. Keeping the 17" would be the cheapest options I think : less development, less...

    Fisker Karma

Very interesting. I really like the conclusion : - I prefer to generate CO2 over a plant than near my house. - I prefer to give my money to a US miner than a petrol king. (except that I'm french and my money will go to a french nuclear ingenior instead of a US miner ^^ )

    Exagon Furtive e-GT

Wrong typing imo  , it's 50 kWh on the french version, and it's been repeatedly said that it was about 50 kWh. The real number seems to be 57.

Opportunity Console - New Photos, Poll

Instead of cupholders under the shelf, why couldn't we have a drawer ? We have huuuuuge amount of space, the free space goes to the end of the feets. Couldn't we think of a drawer to put bits and bobs, and that you could open in the area between the shelf and the armrest, above your bag. I...

Your one primary reason for buying

Ride experience, latest technology, expected cost savings and nice look speak to me the most. But I think your list miss an item. It's a good list for any other car. But not a Tesla. It misses the Tesla grin, the wow factor. Because a Tesla cannot stick to 10 items. Remember, it goes to eleven...

    Is Tech Package worth getting?

Another point for the tech package is the resale factor. The tech package seems to me a bundle of specs they could not put in the standard package because of the cost. When considering some of the standart goodies, the Model S feels "unfinished" without the tech package. That could play a lot...

How have your Experiences with Tesla Motors Europe been?

I have a call from Tesla about every 2 months. The sales manager for France/Belgium/Switzerland is very friendly, we talk a lot. Seems like there are very few reservations in France (less than Belgium !), and that with my reservation number (EU P#233) and a 60KWh battery pack, I would get my car...

    Renault Zoe ZE

According to some blogs, Zoe would consume 15 kwh for 100 km (about 62 miles). Compared to my current car, it's between 4 to 6 times cheaper in France. It would take monthly 1000km (620 miles) to offset the battery leasing cost.

    Exagon Furtive e-GT

Yes, when I compare it to the kharma (4 seater, range-extended, sporty look), I think it's 2x overpriced. But since exagon builds electric snow racers, performance-wise it can be really good. Time will tell, they intend to sell it starting october :-)
