    Roadster Service E-Mail

Ok, I just did a full range charge on my Roadster. When I brought my Roadster home immediately after getting the new battery installed is showed a 338 mile range on a full range charge. It has now been two and a half years since the R80 battery pack was installed and I have put about 10,000...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

I'm doing a full range charge today and will report what it shows. I haven't actually done a full range charge in a while, but the normal range charge hasn't really changed.

    Roadster Service E-Mail

I have had my new battery for two years. And I put like 5k miles a year on the car. I have had virtually no degradation in range. When I got the battery first installed it reported 320 mile range on a full charge. Today it's pretty much the same, maybe a few miles less. When I lived in St...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

I moved to Colorado two years ago. I hate to say it, but owning a Roadster without the R80 battery upgrade is a bit of a challenge. Before I got the battery upgrade my car felt kind of like a toy. I couldn't drive it any reasonable distance at all without experiencing severe range anxiety...

Why will you need a Cyber Truck?

It's actually replacing my Model-S 100d. I'm not a truck guy. But we moved to Colorado two years ago and having a vehicle which can off road is almost a necessity. I find just driving to a friend's house often involves some tough driving on pock marked gravel roads. I will also have my new...

MASTER THREAD: all Smart Summon-related posts go here

I agree. It has no practical use that I can see except, perhaps, picking you up in the pouring rain, which has yet to happen to me. Using it in an environment where there is *any* other traffic is far too risky IMO. It doesn't behave like a human being so it just confuses the hell out of anyone...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

I didn't receive the email either, even though my Roadster is on my MyTesla page and regularly serviced. Nevertheless, I just sent them an email thanking them for providing the email address for owners to contact them. The last time my Roadster needed service there was literally no way to call...

    under 10,000 per year

FWIW, and it's not worth that much, I will be one of the few people who road-trips their Roadster. By the time I get my Roadster I will be 60 years old. This will be the last sports car I own for the rest of my life and then I will be dead. Once you reach this age the concept of 'worrying...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

There hasn't been much discussion about the price drop on the Model-S and X which is kind of insane. I bought mine just a little over a year ago. I just went to the website and configured more or less the same car, and it's like $30,000 less! I bought a Model-S 100D. My $117,000 car is now...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Raise your hand if someone you know has said to you, "Hey, I'm thinking about buying a Tesla" and your response was, "Great, let's go drive to the Tesla store." I mean, seriously, that's not how it works. No, you throw them into your car and make their eyes bleed with acceleration. You turn...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So, there is a lot to parse about what happened in the past 24 hours. However, the one thing I am most surprised by is the negative reaction about Tesla going to all on-line sales. I do get that people want to sit in and drive a car before they buy it. However, this is hardly difficult to do...

Buying a used Lamborghini/Ferrari/or other supercar Vs. new 2020 Roadster

When I first bought my Roadster, after driving ICE sports cars for 35 years, I had a lot of difficulty letting go of the raw experience of shifting gears and the thrill of the roar of the engine. I actually bought myself a BMW-M3 as a daily driver to help compensate. However, over the next 10...

Conflicted feelings on the new Roadster

Well, I own a 2010 Tesla Roadster sport and I got the R80 battery upgrade. I cannot recommend it strongly enough. No, you may not drive cross country with it, but pretty much all range anxiety disappears. You can drive it, comfortably, for hours without worrying about range. More...

New Tesla Roadster will have SpaceX options package

I realize it's pretty damned early, but I think it's likely I will *not* be getting this option on my Roadster. It sounds like this will be a track only feature, and I cannot justify spending what will likely be a great deal of extra money just to have bragging rights on the racetrack. Also...

    Space X Option Package

I think it's real. I've read some stuff online about how these cold gas rockets could be used to optimize the aerodynamics.

When did you order your 2020 Roadster ?

I sent a wire transfer the morning after the semi reveal. Just the $50k deposit though, so that already puts me later in the line.

In Colorado Springs the superchargers are in a *pay* public parking lot.

Is it possible to use the Tesla 2020 Roadster as a daily driver ?

I currently daily drive my 2010 Tesla Roadster. I intend to put as much as 20k miles per year on my new Roadster. I have zero intention of worrying about a single penny of resale value. It has a huge range, and I plan to drive it all over the country all of the time in my retirement.

Buying a used Lamborghini/Ferrari/or other supercar Vs. new 2020 Roadster

So, I currently own a 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport 2.5 with the R80 battery upgrade. I have over $100k in the car today. I could easily have purchased a used Ferrari, but I did not, specifically because of the known and guaranteed maintenance costs of a Ferrari. I am also a reservation holder...

Can you upgrade the base model to be equivalent to the Founders model?

I feel extremely confident that Elon will let you give him a whole bunch more money for extra features. The only thing you won't be able to to get is the Founders edition badge.

New Car Show Sign for my 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport 3.0

New Car Show Sign for my 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport 3.0

New Car Show Sign for my 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport 3.0

I go to quite a few car shows with my Roadster and I like to have a sign that helps answer the many questions people always have about the car. My old sign was getting pretty run down, so I just ordered a new one. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. If anyone is interested, the...

    Any news on 100D uncorking?

I just ordered an inventory 100D. I'm taking delivery in two weeks. I just fired off an email to my SC and asked if it could be delivered to me 'uncorked'. I just went through this thread and, of course, there is lots of talk about the 0-60 time, but I didn't see anyone post their 1/4 mile...

    Roadster reservations

So, by the time I get my Roadster, I should be about 60 years old. If things go according to plan I should also be retired by then. I not only plan to daily drive the car, I plan to drive it cross country as well. I have no intention of limiting the miles I put on the car, because at my age I...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

The main feature that I'm looking for would be to actually get the car in 2020; early 2020 would be even better. Reserved by John W. Ratcliff posted Nov 21, 2017 at 8:51 AM

Oh my. Oh. My. Gawwdddd!! Roadster yum - must have now!!!

I just did the $50k reservation. I got into bitcoin back in 2013 when they were only $80 apiece (just hit $8,100 today) so, technically, my reservation had a cost basis of about $500. (Funny anecdote, I got my first bitcoin ever from the brother of one our forum members and current Roadster...

Shocked by the new Roadster rolling out of the Tesla Semi!

Does anyone have a link to pay the $5k registration? In answer to the question where do you get money for this. You buy a lot of bitcoin five years ago like I did.

    Roadster 3.0

Update. My final run got into 12.7 territory. That's Tesla's stated fastest 1/4 time. Very happy to see the R80 make this big of a difference!!

    Roadster 3.0

I'm pretty psyched! I finally got to the track to drag race with my R80. I cut two tenths of a second off of my 1/4 mile time!! Only $15,000 per tenth of a second. I'm pretty damned happy!
  41. John W. Ratcliff

    Roadster 3.0

Companies are notorious for listing 1/4 mile times that are hard to achieve in real-life. I'm a heavy guy, 250 pounds, maybe that's worth a few tenths of a second. 13.0 beat most everything I went up against.

    Roadster 3.0

    >It is basically half power which is the same as driving in range mode. So slower similar to a BMW 3 series. I can still pull a 13.0 quarter mile even if the performance light is pure red, my BMW-M3 couldn't touch that.
  43. John W. Ratcliff

    Roadster 3.0

    >So for those with the 3.0 battery, does Performance mode going Red seem to make a difference in the car's behavior? Behavior of the light switching was the same. That said, just because the light goes red I cannot observe *any* difference in behavior or performance. It's just a light...

    Roadster 3.0

No, it didn't resolve it. The tech spent a ton of time looking at it, since he was authorized to do so. At this point, I think we are just trying to diagnose a light problem, because when the performance mode light turns red there is absolutely no recognizable change in performance. It still...

    Roadster 3.0

So, I got my Roadster back today with the 3.0 (R80) battery upgrade. I'm quite happy with how the logo looks on the left hand side. I think it gives it a nice balance with the 'Roadster Sport' logo on the right. When I took it for a drive I didn't notice anything different on launch, and I...

So, Tesla service is installing my 3.0 upgrade. He just told me they removed the 'sport' logo and to replace it with the R80. I just asked him 'please don't do that!' I want *both* the R80 badge and my sport badge. Anyone else who got a sport upgraded have this happen to them?
