There is a recall for the front latch. Mine was updated last week.

With regard to navigation, can you enter an address and get turn by turn directions? If not, you only have maps. My 2014 is the same as your car with regard to the entry handles. I do not have the Tech Package.

It may not have the Technology Package option. Homelink, self dimming mirrors, power hatch lift, and navigation were also part of that package.

I’ve read about owners that have successfully removed the cover glass and goo from their forward display, but never the center screen. It may be difficult to remove the flex cables without damaging them. Keep us posted.

I applied the sealant liberally all around and over the the flex connections and around the perimeter. Doing that does not appear to have had any negative effect so far.

I’ve had mine attached to the bottom of the rear hatch glass for 5 years with no problem.

I’m wondering if you could remove the edge sealant at the top and bottom of the screen with a utility knife, and then blow compressed air through the space to remove the remaining goo. May be worth trying.

Has anyone tried draining all of the fluid out of the display? My understanding is that the fluid is only there to improve the viewing angle.

Does the entire MCU need to be removed to replace the LCD, or can it be done by just removing the surrounding trim?

If your Model S was built after October 1, 2014 it has Autopilot hardware. If it was built prior to that it does not. Another way to tell is that vehicles with Autopilot have a camera above the inside rear view mirror. Good luck!

After seeing the 15" screen protruding from the dash with its hard corners, I find it hard to believe that they are showing the final interior. It just doesn't seem very safe
