Yes. That said, TACC and standard Autopilot were updated to recognize stoplights, so the car will start moving quicker (when you are behind another car) when the light turns green.

Spotify: Bluetooth vs Tesla built in app

The iPhone 10/11 transcode audio to 256kbps AAC for streaming over Bluetooth. As far as I know, the only way to experience Spotify’s full “extreme quality” (16-bit 44.1khz @ 320kbps) on an iPhone is with wired headphones.

Spotify: Bluetooth vs Tesla built in app

It doesn’t matter whether your Tesla is on a 5Mbps network or a 500Mbps network, the Tesla’s built-in Spotify client currently streams at a maximum of 96kbps. In contrast, if you manually set music quality in your Spotify’s phone app to “very high” (not auto) then you get a 320kbps audio...

Spotify: Bluetooth vs Tesla built in app

Yes. Currently, the in-car app supports streaming at 96kbps only. With Bluetooth, Spotify provides a superior 384kbps bitrate source that your iPhone converts to 256kbps AAC.

    Front License Plate Wrap?

Does it look better than a clean, plate-less front fascia? No. Does it look better than a metal license plate? Yes. Unfortunately, California appears to be the only state that allows a sticker plate.

If Tesla is a safer car, why the insurance cost does not reflect that?

As others have said, you just need to shop around. With USAA in the Mid Atlantic, the Model 3 costs less to insure than a Suburu Impreza.

M3: No off button for audio?

Pressing the left steering wheel control acts as a PAUSE button on streaming audio. Pressing the button again RESUMES streaming audio [from where you left off, in the case of song, podcast, and audiobook playback.] So yes, pressing the left steering control stops the streaming, although...

Collision Warning - Nice Safety Feature

For the warning? No, AP is not ncessaey. For automatic braking to a stop as necessary to prevent an accident? Yes, AP must be engaged. Without AP engaged, Teslas will sound an alarm and may brake to slow the speed of the car before impact but the car will not stop to avoid the impact /...

Lost my Navigate on Autopilot after 2019.8.5

As I understand it, when diagnosing complaints of poor NoA performance, Tesla discovered that many owners reporting problems have outdated map data. In response, Tesla changed NoA in 2019.8.5 to require a recent version of the Tesla map data. If your car does not have recent version of the...

Tesla prevented me from rear ending car

In 2018.x software releases, Tesla would break and stop on its own only when Autopilot was engaged. In the 2018.x software, with Autopilot disengaged, a Tesla will not come to a stop to avoid a collision. It is unclear whether that has changed in the 2019.x software. As understand it, Tesla...

    TeslaCam & WiFi problems

For Teslacam, it is a good idea to use memory that is meant to be overwritten over and over, such as memory for a security camera or video recording device. Most flash memory (e.g., your typical thumb drive) is not meant to be constantly overwritten, and, as the memory degrades, the amount of...

    2019.8.3 Navigate on Autopilot Review

It’s an issue with the Tesla routing logic. Googlemaps routing does not exhibit the issue.

    2019.8.3 Navigate on Autopilot Review

I see the same thing. Tesla’s navigation will frequently direct me to make a u-turn onto a busy street when driving another 50-100 feet would eliminate the need for the u-turn. It’s reached the point where I wish we had a navigation setting to disable u-turns.

    Model 3 UI Wish List

I want a navigation option to disable U-turns. Tesla navigation is constantly directing me to take U-turns that are dangerous and completely unneccessry. Neither Googlemaps nor Apple Maps suggest U-turns in these situations.

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

The FSD post-delivery price has (at least until now) always been higher. Late last year, Tesla updated their web site to state that future pricing is subject to change. Most of us ordered before Tesla updated their web site with this disclaimer. Even so, like many, I thought that Tesla added...

Stop complaining and start promoting if you want Tesla to survive!

Back in September, my Tesla delivery advisor stated in writing (in an email) that if I did not add FSD right then, it would cost more post-delivery. I know I am not the only person to be misled.
  25. K

Will Tesla punish their supporters, or refund $3,000?

Not a valid comparison. We preordered a product (FSD) that Tesla has not yet delivered. Now, Tesla has reduced the pre-order price and is refusing to refund the difference. Furthermore, Tesla accepted our pre-order under false pretenses by telling us (often in writing) that pre-ordering FSD...

Wait! All Model 3 RWD LR will increase to 325 miles

Planned release is in two week’s according to Elon’s twitter posts.

Wait! All Model 3 RWD LR will increase to 325 miles

Elon gave those as examples. Those examples may or may not have anything to do with the LR RWD. For all we know, they relate to the new SR models. It is a FACT that the LR RWD, today, is already at least 10% more efficient than the AWD model despite having the same 310 mile bar.
  28. K

Wait! All Model 3 RWD LR will increase to 325 miles

Exactly. Both the LR RWD and AWD have the same 310 mile bar on the screen. Yet, somehow, the LR RWD consistently runs at 10-20% better efficiency (wh / mile) than the AWD and can drive 10-20% farther than the AWD on the same “310 mile” charge. Yes. Edit: Unclear. Currently, the LR RWD has a...

The LR RWD is already rated at 325 miles. The screen just says 310 instead of 325. This software will change the screen text from “310” to “325.” That’s it.

    Full Self Driving Capability Question

Wishful thinking. Over the past six months, early access program membership has meant virtually nothing. As often as not, early access program members received their updates after non-members. Early access program membership is simply not Tesla’s primary criteria for determining who receives...

Will Tesla punish their supporters, or refund $3,000?

That's easy. Fred Lambert at Electrek.com owns a P3D without EAP/FSD and he used his Internet megaphone to slam Tesla for the reduction in price. Mr. Lambert does not care about EAP/FSD owners.

    Long-range or Performance

For me, efficiency is poor unless I (1) charge immediately before departure and (2) do not use the HVAC. In my particular situation, I have free charging at work so I do not use my home charger except in emergencies. Disabling HVAC is not realistic when it is 20-40 degrees. I do not have an...

Pedestrian Avoidance in Auto-Pilot Circa March 2019

No. At this time, Autopilot mode is intended only for highways. In Autopilot, the car automatically steers, slows, and accelerates. Autopilot currently ignores stop lights, stop signs, and other road signs.
  35. K

Pedestrian Avoidance in Auto-Pilot Circa March 2019

At this time, automatic emergency breaking only works with vehicles, and it uses only the forward sensors (not the cameras). There is currently no pedestrian (or animal) avoidance on the Model 3 except when using Autopilot. Hopefully, Tesla adds that feature in the future.

FSD 2k or 3k for those who purchased EAP for 5k?

No, Tesla isn’t taking any features away. In the Tesla software, there are three authorization levels — one for AP features, one for EAP features, and one (FSD) for all features.
  37. K

Why I feel less angry about the lower EAP + FSD price after thinking this out

The 325 miles is just a label correction in the LR RWD UI. Still, the improved acceleration (4.0s 0-60) on the LR RWD will be a welcome improvement. Edit: A typo. I meant 5.0s 0-60.
  38. K

FSD 2k or 3k for those who purchased EAP for 5k?

Elon announced it last night on Twitter. A number of Twitter users commented that those who previously paid for EAP should receive a discount on FSD. Elon agreed. Elon said it would take a few days to update their web site to reflect the $2K FSD pricing.
  39. K

    Long-range or Performance

When I bought my car, I would have said performance. However, having experienced a 50% loss in range in 30-40 degree temperatures, and given the upcoming improved acceleration on the LR (325 miles, 5.0s 0-60) via a software update, I think that’s the way to go.
  40. K

Why I feel less angry about the lower EAP + FSD price after thinking this out

    1. Says who? Currently, the 10,000 to 20,000 “early access program” members do not receive priority for hardware or software updates. Tesla currently uses other criteria like geography to prioritize updates. Will that change? Who knows. 2. See #1. You missed one benefit. Now that Tesla...

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

Your price as of December 31: $64,500 - $7,500 tax rebate = $57,000 New price as of February 28: $58,700 - $3,750 tax rebate = $54,950 Your price if you had waited until now to add AP and FSD = $54,000
  42. K

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

$5K is the new AP+FSD pricing for people who took delivery of their car prior to the February 28 price reductions on all Model 3 configurations without EAP or FSD. Additionally, people who bought EAP prior to February 28 can add FSD for $2K (after Tesla updates their web site).

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

Right now, if you have a Model 3 with EAP only, the Tesla web site indicates that the FSD option costs $3000 to add to your car. The new EAP->FSD upgrade price after Elon’s tweetstorm is $2000, but Elon said it will take a few days for the web site to reflect that price. It is a website...
  46. K

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

Unclear. At this point, all we know for sure is that EAP owners who paid $3K for FSD on February 28-March 1 are getting a $1K refund.
  47. K

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

That was posted prior to Elon’s tweet storm last night. People tweeted that prior purchasers of the $5K EAP package should have to pay less than $3K for FSD, and Elon agreed. Maybe so.
  48. K

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

Note the new price of AP+FSD for pre-February 27 owners is actually $4K not $5K. Edit: Maybe not. Looks like FSD may be $2K for only the owners that already have EAP.
  49. K

Devoted Teslonian now developing a resentment

Elon’s tweet about the $1K refund was in response to those who bought FSD yesterday at the $3K price. It is not clear that people who paid $3K prior to February 27 will get a refund. Even if Tesla extends the $1K refund to prior purchases of the $3+K FSD option, the refund arguably should be...
