Tesla engineers are on site today. All the covers are off and paneling removed from sides pedestals. They're working on them. I spoke with one of the engineers and he thinks it may be another week before it's turned on for real, but it may be sooner.
As of last week they've also dug a trench across the width of Trancas to the opposite side of the street. I've not been there today but it was still covered in steel plates on Tuesday.
Stopped by tonight. Lots of PG&E equipment on site plus a big trailer loaded with pretty wide conduit. Both PVC and galvanized steel. Maybe even a new vault or cabinet waiting to be finished.
Sidewalk/grass area along trancas has been dug up in one spot at least and board on top, with...
I got the warning last week that my 2016 MS 75D needs a new battery (first one still.) I was quoted $165 for the battery + $51 for mobile install. Looks like an easy job so if I can get one for $85 I'd probably do it myself.
I'm curious why the parts on the estimate is $165 vs $85.
Anyone got...
Drove by today but didn't have time to stop for photos. Some of the fencing is down and I could see the concrete work was done and the pedestals too. I couldn't see if the white/red charging stations had cables attached yet but everything looks close.
Here's some quick photos from last night. There's some trenching (with metal plates over) between the charging spots and the center of the lot where they I thought was just the staging area, but not I'm thinking they may be putting the cabinets there.
Cabinets and "Staging Area"
I was there yesterday and extensive temporary fencing has gone up in the location where I think the chargers are going to go. There's also been a lot of sidewalk concrete work along the Trancas outside the the plaza.
I'd seriously consider changing the trunk release latch. It's a very common problem and a pain to swap if it fails totally. Car isn't lockable when it goes out and autopilot and a bunch of other things are disabled.
You beat me to it. Thanks for sharing a map. Those spots along edge along Trancas are rarely busy, especially farther back in the lot. Even on busy days like the week before TG when Whole foods goes crazy.
Tesla knows exactly where our cars hang out, and the Bel Air Plaza is loaded with Tesla's so it make sense. Mine is parked up in Bel Air Plaza at least twice a week while I shop, and I routinely stop off on the way home to charge at the Devlin Road location. This new location will allow me to...
I couldn't find this posted elsewhere on the forum. Looks like Tesla is opening a new service center in Vallejo.

Very interesting. I've not claimed Federal ITC yet, so I'll have to do the math if it makes sense for me to do it. I wonder how difficult it would be to get PG&E to cooperate with a letter.
You will not be able to get the PW to charge from the grid during the night-time off-peak unless Tesla themselves set it to Storm Watch. What you're trying to do is not how Tesla designed the system.
In most scenarios your battery will start charging as soon as the sun comes up, regardless of...
The only caveat is if you're signed up for a 3rd party energy provider (Generator) instead of PG&E e.g. Marin Clean Energy (MCE), then some of them will charge you monthly for energy (or credit the account for solar). And PG&E will still keep a running total for their charges that are...
There's a coffee shop at the mall but I'm not sure if it's open during covid. In the past, I've been there super early in the morning and they've been open. It's almost directly opposite the Tesla chargers.
Even with a powerwall it may kill you. An AC unit will quickly drain a powerwall or take it down to your reserve/backup level. Ours averages 6kw and during the recent fires/heatwave we were reluctant to set the reserve too low in case the power went out and we'd need it.
THe only caveat/tip with being on TOU, especially the EV rates is to avoid using heavy electical appliances like AC during peak. I think it's currently around 55c/kW vs 13-15c/kW offpeak. Sometimes you can't avoid it, especially in summer months.
We're on EV-A and got Powerwalls in April. We've not been driving much due to covid, so I've been charging the car from solar during weekend off peak rather than waiting till overnight and paying NBCs.
It's turned into a bit of a game as I check the app and then ramp up amperage on the car as...
I just got my first PG&E bill after our Powerwalls were approved for connection in April. The pdf bill now shows NEM2MT as my rate plan vs my old EV-A. I hope I haven't lost my old plan as I should have a number of years before I need to switch.
I was also surprised to see our true-up date...
It's only a matter of time before the traffic returns. I'm sat at the Concord charger right now and it's 50% full with a constant stream of cars coming and going.
I still can't believe that they've not repaired all the bad stalls here. The last few months I've yet to see 3A/B and 5A/B work for anyone, with mixed results of 1A/B. I've tried calling the support number multiple times to report a problem but they're not interested and says the system detects...
1B I still coned off and I suspect it's the site owner that put the cone out. I could not get 1A to work either today but fine on 4A.
I've had issues with random superchargers in Vallejo too, so I'm not sure if it's my car or failing superchargers. I've tried calling Tesla and they no longer...
