Hello Hive Mind,
So: I have a 2016.5 (refresh, but still AP1) Model S with sunroof, rear jump seats, basic audio, and basic suspension. Includes free unlimited supercharging. Love it.
But…
Sat in a ‘23 Model S at my SC over the weekend and… wow.
Blink reaction: Keep my gal or upgrade?!
The ride quality just really seems to have deteriorated. I don’t recall my car feeling nearly so bumpy, and every little bump and crack of roads and highways. Wishing for a pleasure, softer, more forgiving ride.
honestly no problems I’ve been very fortunate with this car, and while I haven’t gone out of my way to take “special“ care of it, I haven’t abused it in the least either. I see what you’re saying: the devil you know versus the devil you don’t.
I have a '16 Model S coming up on end of lease.
It has:
Post-refresh design (i.e., no nosecone, yes bio-defense, etc.)
44k miles
AP1
Free Unlimited Supercharging
Sunroof (no longer a thing)
Rear Jumpseats (no longer a thing, at least until Plaid variant brings them back)
Cold Weather Package...
Hi gang,
I asked this question nearly a year ago, and folks advised me to chill and wait a year to re-ask. So here I am:
My post–refresh model S 90 D is coming off of lease in June. It has first generation auto pilot, sunroof, rear facing jumpseats, and free supercharging for its life. 39k...
Hi gang,
I'm on month 30 of a lease on a post-refresh 2016 Model S*.
Tesla sales is offering to let me out of my lease early if I take delivery of a new S, X, or Performance 3 by EoY.
Trying to figure out if I should:
1. Buy my own car in 6 months. (Residual/Cost would be 59k. Similar...
Hey community!
I could use your advice.
I have a 2016 Model S (June, post-facelift, pre-AP2) on a 3 year lease that expires in (you guessed it), June 2019.
I like my car a lot, but am not sure what to do come end-of-lease.
Do I:
Lease into whatever new Model S hotness is on the...
I figured I would share my experiences setting up my home charging solution, since I originally found it all rather overwhelming, and have ended up quite happy with the decisions that I've made.
1. Where do I install my home charger?
It might not seem like a big deal, but I can't stress...
Sorry for the necro-post, but I wanted to let all of you helpful folks know that I went the route of the HPWC with an 8' cable. Right between the garage doors, so it's a nice, clean fit. If only the gosh darn car would arrive! :D
Used the Thumbtack app to get 5 quotes from electricians. Quotes...
BAM! My car is now in transit! Pumped. For those minding timelines, my car entered production on 5/9 (my own birthday, coincidentally) and wrapped up yesterday. Delivery estimated between May 20 and June 3!
Woo hoo!
Thanks guys. Another question, if you please:
Do I run 100A to the HPWC, or knowing that the car can only except 48, run 60 amp service instead? My electrician tells me I could save about $200 in materials (and labor: easier wires to work with) if I kick things down to 60 amp service. Just...
Hi folks,
The good news: I'm one of the lucky ducks who ordered their Model S prior to the refresh, but will end up getting a post-refresh vehicle. (I'm very grateful, and am trying not to rub it in, promise!)
The tricky bit: In a Model S carrying a single 40A charger, I was leaning towards...
Absolutely! Jump seats all the way!
The Odyssey has actually been wonderful. Can't complain. Honda has a pretty solid ownership/maintenance experience, and the kids enjoy their comfy seats and occasional movies in back. Not TESLA nice... but happy with it! :D
Appreciate the thinking Eugene. Makes sense given your situation.
I'm leaning lease because I honestly expect I'll want to dial in a Model 3 (or even a fully autonomous Model S) come Summer 2019. Our family of 5 owns a trusty 4 year old Honda Odyssey which we intend to run into the ground, so...
Thanks for your perspective! Are you considering leasing at all? That has been my going-in plan given the rate at which the technology is evolving.
Regarding trade-in: You're absolutely right. I was offered 16.5 for my loaded 2011 Audi A6 that I know Carmax would sell for around 25 or 26...
Got my VIN today. Exciting!!!
Now on to the less exciting bit where I have to confirm how I'd like to pay for this thing.
Is there anything binding about immediately completing Tesla's credit application for vehicle leasing/lending? I'd like to explore 3rd party loan providers (credit unions...
Got my VIN today. Exciting. Now on to the part where I have to confirm how I'd like to pay for this thing.
Is there anything binding about immediately completing Tesla's credit application for vehicle leasing/lending? I'd like to explore 3rd party loan providers (credit unions, etc.) but don't...
I'm in the grace period. Can confirm that the configurator *just* updated for me. Piano Black is not an option for me any longer, but neither are the 2 new wood grains. The premium upgrades package is still there as an option, but the dual charger option is missing. In short, I believe we grace...
Also received the "Order in queue? Goodies at no cost to you!" message. Pumped about that.
Curious to know if the options I'd ordered carry over to the new options as well. (i.e., Premium interior/upgrades specifically) / adaptive LED, etc.
People with better eyesight (or zoom) than me claiming new cameras on the side mirrors. Etc. Here's the image in question.
First look at the Tesla Model S with new front-end [Updated]
I'm still waiting myself. Plan is to buy/lease an S through mid /19, at which point I'll either re-up on a more fully autonomous S or grab a 3 assuming production queues have settled down.
