Model S 2014 battery cell failure

This is rare. Replace the battery. They are great cars. After you replace the battery, then decide. You will get a lot more.with it fixed. Personally I would keep it.

Are YouTubers only posting successful FSD experiences?

I now have FSD Beta 10.4. My experiences are nowhere near as good as what the people on YouTube are posting. I believe they are highly edited to only show the good parts. The FSD is very scary at times and guaranteed to raise your blood pressure by 20 points or more. LOL

No more kW in energy widget

i exchanged messages with another MS owner here in ATL. He said removing the profiles and then creating a new profiles from scratch would make the numbers come bak. NO, it does not. I hope they will put the numbers back in the next software update. My guess is, they are gone for good.

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

The only issue I have experienced with the MCU2 is the cellular connection gets stuck in 3G and will not switch to LTE unless I reboot. I know exactly how to duplicate this issue, Tesla knows about it and claims it is a firmware bug. A fix is coming, but this is 4-month-old information and it...

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

Wow, thanks. I am on the same software they installed during the upgrade. I don't know that my cellular connection is poor, it just won't switch between 3G & LTE. 3G connections are terrible. I have regular streaming issues, outgoing text messaging, and voice commands are problematic. I believe...

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

Thanks, this is very helpful. What software version do you have? Mine is 2020.44. Maybe it's the software version. This is the version that was installed when I picked up my car after the MCU2 upgrade was installed. Today, I drove about 10 miles into an LTE area to pick up breakfast. About...

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

Today I took a drive and decided to just let it stay on 3G for the duration and see what happens. Interestingly, after being well into LTE coverage, it finally switched about 30 minutes, maybe more. The MCU1 would switch between 3G, and LTE much more quickly. With the MCU1 everything worked...

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

Hmmm, that might be possible. But, even with a bad antenna connection, it would switch. When I reboot, or start the drive in an LTE are, it works great.

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

The 3G area and starting the drive in 3G coverage is hard if not impossible to duplicate unless you are in a 3G area. Most of the metro areas are well covered. But, out in the rural areas, not so much.

In many cases, Homelink settings, streaming favorites, are saved. Browser favorites are lost. The SC told me that settings are not saved in all cases. I believe other preferences are saved but I went through all my settings and made sure anyway.

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

I upgraded to MCU2 recently and now I am experiencing a whole new round of issues. Here is my list; What are your problems? WiFi: Sensitivity was poor with MCU1, is worse with MCU2 (upgrade) Cellular Coverage: If a new drive starts in a 3G area, it won't switch to LTE when driving into an LTE...

Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component email - Wow - watch for it

This is what they should have done all along instead of using it to market the upgrade to MCU2. Now, we can hope they will offer some relief to the repeated headlight problems.

Model S won't forget bluetooth phone

I had the same problem..The first time this happened to me I powered off the car. The second time it happened, powering off the car didn't correct it. So, if you haven't tried powering off, try that it "might" work.

Warranty Adjustment Program – Touchscreen Component email - Wow - watch for it

Good question. I was "forced" into the MCU2 upgrade because service told me that because it was not going black and staying that way that would not do anything. If I wanted to resolve the reboots, intermittent black screen, and spinning wheels that would sping got 3 minutes or more, I would have...

GROUP BUY - MCU-1 to MCU-2 Upgrade, Testing interest

I took the plunge but not happy about it. I paid just under $120,000 for my MS and missed the MCU2 by the matter of just a few days. My MCU was obsolete before the car was delivered to its owner. I have put up with a poorly functioning or not functioning at all MCU. I have FSD and Tesla...

Not Automatically Switching from 3G to LTE when back in Coverage

I am having a problem with my connection not changing back to LTE when I drive into a 4G/LTE coverage area. When I start out on a drive from my home I only have 3G coverage. About 1-2 miles down the road I enter an LTE coverage area. My MS never switches to LTE. I can have 5 bars of signal and...

    Pixel 5 and text messages

I have had trouble off and on with the MCU1. One time, after a software upgrade, text messages started working for no explainable reason. XM/FM Radio with MCU 2 Upgrade

I just upgraded this past week. I talked and talked with them to find some way to make the upgrade less expensive. I have seen a post on this form that if you 'let Tesla keep your old MCU1' you can get it $1,000 to $1,500 less. Not True. Also, they never came up with the option of using my old...

XM/FM Radio with MCU 2 Upgrade

The Radio is not included in the MCU1 -> MCU2 upgrade. The radio upgrade is an additional $500. The price does not change if you do it at the same time or come back later and have it added. As of today, the radio upgrade is not available. I am told it is coming and will be soon.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I am scheduled for Tuesday to have the MCU2 installed. I was speaking with the service center Saturday. As of that time, the radio was not available. I don't know when Tesla updated this information and if the service center knows yet. Please let me know what you find out.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Tesla updated the Infotainment Upgrade information to now include the ability to retain FM/SiriusXM capability with the upgrade. Will Tesla Warranty-Replace MCU1 when Failure Symptoms Start?

I am sure there are exceptions but generally speaking the Service Center will not replace unless the screen goes black and will not come up. Typically the reboot takes 4-5 minutes. Perhaps since the screen stayed black that long, it certainly qualified.

Will Tesla Warranty-Replace MCU1 when Failure Symptoms Start?

The MCU has to completely fail screen goes black and will not come back up, then they will replace it under warranty. They will not replace it based on poor performance and unexpected behavior.

Will Tesla Warranty-Replace MCU1 when Failure Symptoms Start?

They would not replace it for me. They cleared the cache, cleared the trip odometer, and said everything is fine and they have not seen any failures on the later MCU1s. BS, mine is continually causing issues. Tesla is a delay, delay, delay. Now I am out of warranty and telling me that if I want...

Sirius XM Upgrades with last software update

Actually, they have a refresh request (although it does not work) right on the screen. Why would they put that there if it won't refresh? Our cars send log and other information to the mother ship. Why not be able to send a refresh request?

Sirius XM Upgrades with last software update

Since the upgrade, I have to have SiriusXM send a refresh to my car regularly. If I am parked in the garage for more than a couple of days, I have to send it.a refresh signal. MCU1/AP3 - laggy response time

This might be a little off topic but since I might agree to upgrade my laggy and unstable MCU1 With MCU2, do you know if you can go to SiriusXM's website and use their online streamer?
  35. markn455

    MCU1/AP3 - laggy response time

Yes, the "phantom drain" is much worse with HW3. I also have the MCU1 erratic behaviors, lockups, requiring a reboot which can take 10 minutes.

MCU1 memory issues vs. MCU 2 offer from Tesla Service

Why can't they just provide the "secret handshake" that will clear it? Seems that would be a safe end-user capability. Save them a lot of service time in the long run.

    MCU1/AP3 - laggy response time

I had mine in for service very recently for the same problem. I had never reset my trip odometers since the car was new. FSD upgrade/no MCU upgrade shows more than anticipated...

All that you are seeing was announced by Tesla. So far I have not seen cyclists and I did before the upgrade. I am about 5 days on the HW3 computer. I believe MCU2 will show traffic cones, trash cans on the side of the road.

Does TeslaCam work on previously HW2.0 MCU1, now upgraded to FSD?

I complained about the crappy video and choppy of the TeslaCam on my HW3 MCU1 car. Tesla told me that I need to be using the USB drive recommend in the owners manual. Turns out I am! I tried both of the suggested brands. The SanDisk seems a touch better than the Samsung but is still...

3rd Party interface for MCU2 to Analogue AM/FM/XM Radio

I agree with you completely. I found that many AM and FM stations are available on TuneIn. None of the iHeart stations are there but most of the other metro area stations seem to be there. The audio quality is not great. This is not an acceptable solution IMHO. I want the radio back..and...
