    Talk me down...

There is already a couple tow threads; basically if you are going to be towing an RV any reasonable distance, the Cybertruck isn't going to be the right tool for the job. Spending big $ for the 500 mile version which gets you closer, makes no financial sense unless money has no meaning to you. I...

Is 350 miles enough for towing 10k pounds?

I want to be able to pull a 20' Airstream, plus gear in the truck bed. The Airstream trailer max is 5,000lbs and completely dry with LP is 4,300 with the actual towing weight being somewhere in-between. If I use the assumptions above with a 4,500lb trailer and a 150 mile range it would require a...

Is 350 miles enough for towing 10k pounds?

I would want the Cybertruck to pull a 5,000 lb trailer. After looking at these projections, it would be cutting it razor thin for the single motor, and close for the dual before accounting for degradation, and supercharging to 80% at stops. To the OP, I'd seriously consider a diesel instead...

Interesting article about Tesla Insurance & why they're doing it

The medical bills to worry about from an insurance perspective are those required for the ones you hit. That part is mandatory at least in my State. The coverage for the driver & occupants are optional. In this case, how well the Telsa vehicle protects it's occupants is irrelevant.

Battery Pack Extender - Drop in Truck Bed

In this case, a portable generator that would plug into a port in the truck bed would actually make the most sense. A mini version of the range extender on the Volt. Many people already own one for outages and emergencies.

    New screen UI in Cybertruck

This is the first Tesla that I'm actually excited about, and may buy. Has there been any information on whether the truck will have SiriusXM (the actual radio, not just the app)? For me this is one of the "must have" items, along with a towing harness connection.

    Tesla Stores

As a current Volt owner and high mileage driver, I'm keeping an eye out for what I'd like to buy in the next 2 years. So as a perspective from a current non-owner, Tesla's killing the stores and test drives is, IMO, the stupidest thing they have done. I have no problem ordering on-line, however...

    Elon's Model 3 Deception

That's faulty math. There are more parts to a car than just the battery, so the greater the range the lower the per mile rate for these other parts. A 35k base Model 3 / a 220 mile range is $159 per mile, so it's not that different.

Battery Format for Model 3 - 18650 commodity cells or large format batteries

They already do, and the track record supports this. As a 2014 and 2017 Volt owner, I can say the Volt is vastly under appreciated outside of the owners. While GM has had other issues, the Volts have been rock solid.

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

Compliance cars are only sold in the in CARB States. The Spark is a compliance car. The Bolt is not, it will be sold in all the States same as the Model 3.

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

Fully agree. It's hard enough educating the typical ICE driver of the benefits of trying an EV. There shouldn't be EV bashing on an EV forum.

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

That's the problem with the independent dealership model. The sooner this model is not "required" the better it will be for the consumer. Taking my car in for service every two years to have the oil in the generator changed is hardly a hassle. But yes, some service departments really try hard to...

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

I agree on both counts, however in my opinion is Toyota is using this as a delaying/diversionary tactic for the regulators. Hydrogen can be derived from Natural Gas, or by passing an electric current through water to split the molecules. Both methods are significantly less efficient then just...

Finding a CUV for the Wife in the US

Why not the Bolt, and stay off gas? It's supposed to have the higher seating position, hatchback opening, fold-down seats, and the interior volume of a Model S. The BMW i3 may also work but at a higher price-point. Based on her driving distance she should have no problems with the lower range.

[Rant] locals clogging the Highland Park, IL supercharger

I've always thought that unlimited "free" Supercharger access while great marketing is unsustainable. The same abuse issues occur with free L2 stations, however these don't cost nearly as much as a Supercharger. With the Model 3 coming out I think this needs to shift to a one time access fee...

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

I agree there. I would much rather buy a car which was made in the US with as many US sourced components as possible. This is a huge plus for Tesla in my view. I put my money where my ideals are, I have always owned US vehicles.

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

I wouldn't consider either vehicle as a luxury car. The Model S is a luxury car. The Model 3 can't get to this price-point and still be, hence the minimalist interior. To be fair we need to see the final versions of both vehicles to make a comparison, since we've not seen the final production...

Media stop comparing Bolt to Model 3

These are the only two electric cars coming in the near future which have a 200+ mile range and will be priced in the thirties. Therefore it's very fair to compare the two. Yes, they will have different body styles and interior but I don't view this as a bad thing. What works for one person...

    Supercharging, Franchise

Level 2 or 25kW DC is plenty for charging at a retail or restaurant business. However with the Bolt coming out later this year this brings up another thought. If Tesla sold a Tesla to CCS adapter with the built in authentication to access a Supercharger, this would provide an additional revenue...

If car companies can't invent a viable EV solution to compete, what happens to Elon's vison?

As a 2014 Volt owner it's short sighted and bit frustrating to see BEV owners frequently lump the Volt EREV into the same category as a Prius. Most people drive less than 40 miles per day per the national statistics in the US. I fall into this usage category, and only burn gas ~4-5 times per...
