Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Silly Sunday thought...RE the 5 day work week at China GF. Given that it seems Chinese auto is struggling to make money, could the management (Chinese Gov.) have asked Tesla to lift their foot from the accelerator a little...and rise prices a smidge too, please! :)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Can we double like (actually love) this? As you all know, I rarely post. Others just seem to cover topics better than me (so, I Like-a-Lot). Most of the whingers and "Elon sucks balls" crowd have been put on mute (you've made your point....over and over, but frankly I disagree). This resource...

Team, thinking out loud...could that be why they are (or will continue to) holding back on recognizing the deferred FSD money?

This is a few days old, but......Thanks @unk45 for the continuing education! I would even like to see it in the Merit thread (for the first paragraph).

Mike, despite reading every post since 2016, has a tiny reaction score. Mike uses the like/helpful/informative/funny buttons massively. Mike often thinks of a good reply, reads forward a bit, sees someone has responded more eloquently than he would have, so hits the like button. Mike has saved...

I'm sure it's been done, so apologies for wasting bandwidth, but with the Q2 actuals now out, what would/could have Q2 been without the Shanghai shut down? I know it's a bit of a "if my grandma had wheels, she'd be a wheelbarrow" type question, however I'm curious to the see the result...

It will be really fun to watch the (successful) system tests  ....front right tire blowout test 1, at 100mph in curve......Pass 🤯

The correct answer! (edit)....for me a least :)

BH, thoughts on funding these spreads.... a sell to open $250 strike put is currently $15. If would fund the $12 spread. Armageddon would be required to hit $250 in my (very) humble option. What would be the down side to this?
  10. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Thanks for the info. A question for the dummies: Could you define a conservative spread (and $ example would be great too)? Thanks!

If I've learned anything in the last 4.5 year, I've learned that I have no idea. 🤣

It would (will) be fascinating to see the stats on post rental purchase rate. Agree 100% with Stealth, hundreds of thousands of "free" test drives per yr. This is gold rush territory.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Legacy would be too slow for Elon. At this point Tesla could probably get a new factory up and running before the legacy partner could get a "tesla" model out.

Also stretches the "advertising" dollar further (more total headlines with Tesla & Porsche in them ;)).

Johan, I don't think I've seen anyone speak hard numbers on this before. A blog post / publishable spreadsheet would be a real FUD buster.

So, how long before that's the market cap? (sorry, couldn't resist).:D Seriously though, like many of the mid-termers, I too hit the first mile$tone yesterday, if only for a couple of hours. My most humble thanks to the smart, passionate and humorous folk here. You were all needed to...

...and here I was thinking about trying to raking up a little extra in 2021 with some (timid) option plays. Oh well, playing dead has worked admirably so far. I guess one can't go too far wrong with that strategy. :D Thanks JB (and all the calming voices here)!

Me too (and the ones others made... like the $1 jan21 650s), but I just seem to end up regretful and depressed :D. Watched you make the 1400 buy, too! There must be a lesson in here somewhere.

They ought to make one out of the remains of SN8 and raffle it off for charity. I could see some crazy bugger paying big bucks for that!

Excellent point, Lodger! I wonder if 2020 could have really gone much for the company (and SP) without the pandemic (OK... Xk cars from Fremont). Another question rattling around in there. Is the value Daimler's investment in TSLA, made way back when, worth more than Daimler yet? edit - Typos

I don't have a clue. Is this remotely correct?
  22. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Wow! I wonder if the capture & "solve" rate would slow, as cases get edgier and edgier...i.e. it's easier to pick the low hanging fruit, so to speak. So could 6 months turn into a year or two? When they get a single odd case, could the system get good enough to train for it once and be...

was thinking the same as I wrote the original post. I guess the gist is that the march (can we already say of 9s) is on and surely in 2yrs we will have a bunch of 9s.

So based on the Dojo video a couple of posts back, they run the training computer 2 or 3 times per release. With Dojo at full speed daily updates  As a possiblist (but having learned only from the many videos), it seems hard not to imagine a pretty compelling FSD in 12-24months, at least...

You need a big sell / re-buy delta on the drop, when you have to pay 26% tax at time of sale (sadly no tax free accounts for us....at least none that I know of :().

Trading closed...so here's my little feel good moment as, unless a miracle happens, this will be my last buy! [email protected] I win today?:) ...but then I got depressed with the numbers being bandied about to hit retirement. Emotionally, it's easier to deal with the daily 10% swings. :p:p

They didn't not, though! Amazing that the Jeff Dahn stuff was not mentioned. Adding that back in, yesterday's WOW becomes a double WOW. I think the were very candid about the engineering to get up 56% / down 69%..... I saw lots of sandbags lying inconspicuously about the stage :)

OT - weekend chat:) Now, my PT is 2k (post split, I know lofty goals, but as a dead investor that's the best I could do :(), so taking stock of my anti-dilution homework, I have: 5b cap raise - > 1.3-1.4 % to buy - ok can handle that (pours dollars into the bucket) Elon's pay - > 11% to...

Dodger, to be honest the thought process hadn't extended quite that far...of course, once the cells (bad ones culled in the conditioning stage) are life of car reliable, they should go in and not come out alla iPhone. Will be V. cool
  39. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I vote for very heavy handed work on mega castings and cells basically fixed (not cast in but almost) into the chassis floor pan. 1M mile battery and motors in a 1M mile (non corroding) chassis = recycle the whole car at EOL.........a long way down the road. oh yeah, a bunch cheaper too...

Yeah, I watched you and agonized over having a go (as an indecisive chap, I'm doing a good job at impersonating a dead investor)!! also salivated over the Jan21 690s (which i didn't buy, of course)and still go back an look occasionally (telling myself it's for educational purposes). So...
