    Slacker down?

Same here, been down since Friday... so annoying!

Ordering Model S but unsure what to do with Trade-In?

I didn't have the distance challenge, having a store/service center within 40 miles, but I wasn't sure what to do with my trade-in. Turns out Tesla was several thousand under what Carmax offered me, even with the sales tax offset mentioned above, so I sold my trade to Carmax the day before I...

    Firmware 8.0

Yep, I just did that on the Minnesota Owners Facebook page... and then ducked. Sadly, I think it's just the 2.36.106 update to 2.36.108 as I've been reading on the forum...

    Firmware 8.0

Got mine last night - and now another one is scheduled for tonight with the same "estimated time to complete" as last night's. Will be interesting to see what that is.

    Tesla moments

Oh no, he'd already run my credit card and I was just ready to sign it when the car came up... the charge held true to the original quote over the phone, so I was good :)

    Tesla moments

Just had a fun one without even being in the car. Our dishwasher was acting up so I had a tech out today to see what's what - we got talking about how wonderful technology is until it fails. I said "And driving the most technologically advanced car out there today, I am glad it doesn't fail...

First month with the S and a little bummed.

Another wiper chatterer sufferer here. I haven't changed anything - no coating, no different wipers - and it's only the driver's side bottom half that does it. Annoying as hell. Living in MN, I need my wipers to work! I'll give the Bosch Icon and shorter ones a go - small investment if it helps!

    Homelink auto close stopped working

Yep, same here - 95% of the time, I want it to close, but if not, super easy to just hit "skip" and it stays open. That's why the sudden non-functioning was a bit annoying (but in the realm of problems in the world, it is miniscule...).
  9. Julesp313

    Homelink auto close stopped working

I'll give that a try. Weird how it opens just fine but not closes it... But hey, technology baffles me most of the time! :)

    Homelink auto close stopped working

I set up the Homelink about two months ago, no issues. Have both auto open and auto close turned on. Two days ago, auto close stopped working - auto open still works, and I can close "manually" no problem. I have changed nothing else - reverse out of the garage, the screen shows "auto close" but...

    Tesla moments

Two wee moments this past week...driving home one evening, a chap driving a Miata dashed past me (I was stuck behind a slow Prius again - it's becoming a common thing for me...), then slowed, dropped behind me, dashed past again, pulled in front, stuck his arm out of the window and gave me a...

    Trunk Latch Problem

Uh oh... that's what happened to me when I got my windows tinted (two weeks into ownership). The vendor was massively apologetic and really concerned that his team had somehow damaged the latch, but the Service Center could find no evidence of damage. The mechanical latch simply failed. The...

    Tesla moments

Stopped at the "local" supercharger (ie: 60 miles north of us) and when we came out of the restaurant, there were people peering in the windows. As they walked towards us, my husband said "You guys have any questions?". 15 minutes later and multiple other people stopping by to join the chat, I...

    Model S: Overwhelmingly male and over 45 years old/Model 3 Don't Die

Owners of Tesla's pricer Model S sedans have tended to be overwhelmingly male and over the age of 45... I am neither, though close to the latter... :)

    Help Justifying my purchase

Once I stopped trying to justify the purchase, I ordered one. By that, I don't mean I couldn't afford it and just said "the hell with it" and bought it anyway - I mean I stopped trying to justify why I would be better off with a Model S than my Lexus at half the cost. I have the means and I...

Daylight running light for Refreshed MS

OK, finally got the confirmation from the husband that 2.24.102 did "fix" the DRL/signature lights issue - and yes, definitely only works with Range Mode off... but hey, I have lights! And by husband confirmation, I mean I made him stand in front of the car and tell me if the lights were on -...

    Rear Keyless Entry Sensors

I do have a manual trunk - but the guidance in the online manual doesn't state that the manual trunk won't open unless you unlock the doors - except it DOES state that under the guise of "some dates of manufacture and some options" which is rather vague, if you ask me! Either way, being able to...
  18. Julesp313

    Rear Keyless Entry Sensors

So for you, having the door unlock on either "all" or "driver only" both work? For me, neither of those work... :( And by "work" I mean both settings allow you to unlock the trunk without first having to unlock the passenger doors.

Critique My Strategy: Blindly Buying the Base Model

I wish I were rich - I'd have gotten the fully loaded P90D whatever insane ludicrous whatnot version! I just don't have kids - there's my car payment right there. :) Totally unrelated - I have friends in Westchester County. Lovely part of the state. Except... humid.
  20. Julesp313

    Rear Keyless Entry Sensors

I guess that's my frustration with this - that the car doesn't sense the key fob presence and therefore allows the trunk to be opened/unlocked without first having the passenger doors unlock. I know it's not the done thing to compare Tesla to other brands, but all my previous cars that had...

Critique My Strategy: Blindly Buying the Base Model

I'm about six weeks into ownership - came from a Lexus, so not exactly a low-end car but still half the cost of the S. I have the 70D - living in Minnesota, AWD and the subzero package were not optional. The pano roof is very nice and I've used it a lot already (didn't need the headroom, I am...

Daylight running light for Refreshed MS

Guessing this explains it so I shall test it tonight - I got the update to 2.24.102 this weekend and the DRLs are not working - and I *do* have range mode on. I shall try turning that off on my commute home and see if that solves this slightly crazy situation!
  23. Julesp313

    Rear Keyless Entry Sensors

Yep, same here - if I approach from the rear, the manual button on the trunk does not work. I can either walk up to the rear passenger door and the handles present, then the trunk can be opened with the manual button, or I can dig in my purse for the key fob and hit the button on it. But I...
  24. Julesp313

    Rear Keyless Entry Sensors

I have the same frustration - to open the trunk, I have to first walk up to the rear door and wait for the handles to auto present. If I use the fob, I can open the trunk from a distance - seems as though approaching from the trunk, as is very common when loading groceries and other things...

Daylight running light for Refreshed MS

So much fuss and pain over lights!!! But I still want them to work :)
  26. Julesp313

Daylight running light for Refreshed MS

Still waiting here... still on 2.20.30. I get that it's not a huge safety concern, but I'd like my lights, please! :)

    Picking the right color

$1,300 - it's a ceramic coating that helps dirt slide off and makes washing easier. I've had the car a month, drive it to a horse barn multiple times a week, and have been rained on countless times this month. Not washed it and you can't tell it's not been washed. But to each their own on what's...

    Silver paint question

And... just realized those are the ones I posted before. Sorry for the duplicates - those are all I have right now. I'm a very bad owner - I should be taking photos all the time!
  32. Julesp313

    Silver paint question

Yes, still absolutely satisfied with it - very happy with the color choice. It's been rained on several times and driven to the horse barn several days a week (aka, MUD) and still looks great. Not sure where the other post is with the photos but I'll see if I can find them and repost...

    Picking the right color

Biased, as my avatar pic shows... several people have commented that the silver on a refresh looks great, and I would have to agree. Living in MN, my main issue is dirt, particularly in winter, and my husband wanted a subtle color - silver nicely addresses both of those. I've had it four weeks...

    Weather Tech Floor Liners

I have the WeatherTech digital fit floor liners (not just the mats - the ones that come up at the sides) that I got directly from WeatherTech - the front and rear rows fit very well. The cargo mat for the trunk is a generic one and had to be cut down to fit (as they state on their website) so...

No update here yet... thankfully it's not *quite* as bad as waiting for the car itself! :)

How do you get Slacker back in your car after the trial run?

And to reply to myself, from the April 2016 user manual on My Tesla: Slacker Model S automatically provides you with a complimentary 12-month Slacker Plus account. Tesla has set up this account for you and there is no need to log in. To use your own Slacker Plus or Premium account, log in as...

    Tesla moments

Yes, I shall be training The Husband on the appropriate washing method for this - he's more of a bucket of soap suds and big fluffy wash mitt, followed by a good rub down with a sort of mostly clean chamois kinda dude. That is not happening!!!
  38. Julesp313

    Tesla moments

Yep, or with rust from the brakes because you don't use them very often and - depending on where you live - they rust :) Helps make it significantly easier to get the grime off with just water.

    Tesla moments

Mine was $1,300 - level one paint correction (the car is only three weeks old), level two protection (Gtechniq Crystal Serum Pro, all exposed paint plus wheels). There's a chap who comes highly recommended by pretty much all the owners in the MN group, and I was extremely pleased with the...

How do you get Slacker back in your car after the trial run?

The service center - and I believe it's also in the electronic manual on my car - both say the Slacker subscription is for a year, after which I may continue under a paid subscription. The wifi/LTE connectivity is intended to be included with the car purchase price for four years. I've only...

Announcement of new Model S June 9th

I've had my refreshed S70D for three weeks today. I like that I may upgrade to the 75 in the future, should I find the desire and/or need. I think offering the 60 with the ability to upgrade to 75 is really smart, for all the reasons noted in previous posts - opens the market to additional...

Do the side mirrors fold in when you walk away from the car with the fob?

Yes...I think it's a setting you can change.
  44. Julesp313

    Tesla moments

Picked my car up this morning after having it coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum, which, by the way, makes it look ridiculously gorgeous, and at a stop light, a lady in a huge Chevy truck is motioning me to put the window down. I do, and she wants to know what sort of car it is - Tesla, it's all...

Cross winds for your Model S vs previous cars?

From my vast experience driving the car (I've had it two weeks...), I'd say it's the most stable and least susceptible to external influences of any car I've had before, including wind and semi trucks getting as close as humanly possible to the lane markers...

    Daytime Running Lights (LEDs)?

Newbie question, but does a firmware update also happen over the air, or does that require a service center visit? My guess is OTA, but I'm not sure...
