    v11.4.7 (2023.7.30) auto-wipers seem drastically worse

Confirming, 11.4.9 has fixed my previously non-functioning wipers, and no dry wipes, either! Rain sensing, so far, seems as good as it was before the dry wiping began, if not better.

    v11.4.7 (2023.7.30) auto-wipers seem drastically worse

I’ve also been on 11.4.7.3 for what seems like an eternity. The strange thing is that early on with this version, I’d get the dry wipes all the time, but they’d still turn on when it was raining. Now, the auto wipers don’t seem to ever turn on, even in a downpour. I also got a strange...

Lag in "off the line" acceleration

Late to this party. Only experienced this a few times, most recently this morning, which had me worried something more ominous was happening “under the hood.” Always happens when I’m at the front of the line and want to get ahead quickly to change lanes. Glad to know that it’s just a setting. I...

Xpel ultimate fusion PPF Model 3 Install

That’s awesome that you provide free BOOST refills. I got a free bottle from my installer, but I don’t think refills are included. For the price of a full ppf installation, I think they should be included, so good on you for doing that! Thanks for the comment on longevity and recommended boost...

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Y-axis is personal preference. I personally like the lettering near the lower 1/3rd of the panel, but everyone is different. Look at a lot of photos, decide what you like, and if you have a shop install for you, make sure they know exactly what you want, or you may be in for a surprise.

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Thanks! I tried a little, but not much success. Honestly, I just need to get over my OCD and enjoy the car. Googling images of dual motor badges, I see a lot worse out there, with the O’s rotated and such, so I can learn to live with this and the XPEL orange peel

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Finally got the car back today after tinting and ppf installation, and the gunmetal gray matches the uberturbines perfectly! It’s impossible to capture this in photos, because of the relative contrast of black and gunmetal, which makes the badges look a lot lighter in photos than they do in...

Xpel ultimate fusion PPF Model 3 Install

Agreed! I came here for these answers, too. Now, almost a year later, can anyone speak to the longevity of ultimate fusion’s hydrophobic top coat, and if they regret not going with ultimate and ceramic coating, instead (or another brand of hydrophobic ppf like STEK)?

    MyQ almost closed on car

Oh man, so sorry to hear this. I know some people add a second set of sensors at bumper height, but I need to learn how to do that. You’d think in 2023, we’d have smarter garage door sensors that create a plane that spans the entire threshold.

    MyQ almost closed on car

The problem with homelink is that it doesn’t know if your garage door is open or shut. It just sends a binary signal and the door either opens OR closes. I had homelink set to auto open only, and one day, while adjusting my car in the garage, with the door open, it decided to send the signal to...

    $45 MyQ Subscription

Does livekey allow auto open/close via geofence, or do you have to talk to Siri? I’ve found talking to Siri or Alexa to be problematic in a car with other people talking or playing music/podcasts.
  12. fseir

    MyQ almost closed on car

I was really hoping MyQ integration would solve the geofence problem where homelink would shut the door on top of your car, but it looks like this continues to be a problem, unless you override the safety mechanisms by raising the sensors to bumper height. At least since MyQ knows the state of...

    MyQ quirk

Today my geofence failed to trigger my door to open when I got home. Had to go to the my MyQ app on my phone, and even then, after the door opened, my Tesla continued to show the door state as “closed.” That’s a new one for me. I’ll have to see if it persists.
  14. fseir

    MyQ quirk

The immediate closing seems to be hit or miss for me, too. I actually didn’t realize immediate closing was an advertised feature of this integration, as I was always used to the flashing/beeping when using the MyQ app on my phone, so when it closed immediately one day, from the car, I wondered...

    MyQ quirk

Oof. So sorry to hear this! This was exactly the reason I didn’t use the geofence with homelink in my model 3. Too many instances of garage doors coming down on top of cars, and almost had it happen to me. I was hoping the geofence in MyQ would be smarter, since it knows the state of the garage...

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Shipping took awhile, but I finally got my gunmetal badges from emblemsonly. I haven’t taken them out of the packaging yet, but the color is almost a perfect match to the uberturbine wheels, although it’s hard to capture through the plastic. Had to delay ppf to have paint correction scheduled...

That looks great. I think you get just enough contrast when you go glossy on satin. Good choice!

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Just found another company that sells badges in a LOT of pre-made colors, including gunmetal. Ordered the front and back T logos and the performance dual motor, all in gunmetal. Note that you have to choose the dual motor version with the red underline in the drop down menu, if that’s what you...

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

Thanks. I already ordered some badges and gunmetal gray plasti dip. Hopefully the color is fairly close to the rims. Your solution is probably far better, though, in terms of color match and durability.

Should I black out my badges/emblems on my black MY?

This looks fantastic! Just picked up my new black MYP last week, and am getting clear XPEL ultimate fusion PPF in a couple weeks, but haven't been able to decide what to do about the badges. The company doing the PPF replaces the chrome Tesla badges with black ones, but I don't like how they get...

    Safety Score

My safety score disappeared after getting 10.2, and nothing I’ve tried has brought it back. I’m kind of glad I can’t see my safety score, though, as I’m sure it’s gone way down, partially because I’ve had to take over and slam the brakes several times, and partially because I’ve stopped driving...

Safety Score not showing up in app? It could be this.

I can’t seem to get my safety score back, and I’d really like to see it, after playing around with 10.2 for a couple days. I’ve had a few disengagements where I had to immediately brake, which I know would’ve previously counted against me as hard braking. Tried force quitting the app, signing...

Autopilot blinded, disengaged by sun on interstate

Happens to me all too often, as my commuting times and east-west travel seems to set me up for twice daily blinding. In fact, I started this thread a while back, to discuss what Tesla might need to do to solve this problem: Blinded by the sun I’m hoping they might be able to do some software...

MS/MX style aftermarket rear chrome trim for Model 3

I’ve bought some stuff off Etsy, and didn’t have any issues, but I think it’s an e-commerce marketplace, so you’re actually buying from individual sellers. So your experience may be as good or bad as that particular seller. That rear emblem looks nice. As for me, I’m still really happy with...

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Yeah, I’ve watched a ton of FSD beta videos, but haven’t seen one that tests that scenario yet — anyone know if FSD 5 avoids potholes?

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

I’m hoping when V11 finally comes, the FSD visualizations will still depict everything the cameras see. I think it would be reassuring to know the car sees the barrier and the upcoming turns ahead of time.

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Ah, that’s good to know it was on AP2, thanks for the clarification. I googled ‘Jersey barrier’ and see that most of those seem to have a very low flared out base, so I can imagine how that would only contact the tire. Our zipper barrier has a much taller and flatter base, so I’m not sure it...

Question Regarding AP vs FSD vs Beta FSD

Prior to COVID, when my commute home was largely stop and go, I could go for well over a minute without a nag, so it seemed to be partially dependent on velocity (or maybe the timer resets every time the car comes to a halt?). Not sure if that’s still the case, since COVID has temporarily fixed...
  42. fseir

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

Oh man, this is exactly what I worry about. The car is so close to that barrier, that if it freaked out, even for a split second, it might be hard to manually correct. Glad your car wasn’t damaged by the Jersey barrier. Amazing that it could make contact with anything at speed, and not suffer...

Have you ever hit something on autopilot?

My daily commute includes a zipper lane, which has little-to-no left-sided shoulder, and is right up against mobile concrete dividers (the zipper), which feel like they’re about 2 feet from my driver side. I’m sure they’re probably actually farther away, but at 60-70 mph (prevailing speed of...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

Hadn’t really considered CO2 buildup being significant during my 40ish minute commute, but I guess it makes sense that could happen in a car that is fairly airtight. So for the past few days, I’ve been trying to get in the habit of turning recirc on only when I approach stanky areas. Doing...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

Hmmm, then maybe it IS related to going into entertainment mode? It seems like when you enter that mode, it momentarily affects the climate control. I wonder if it’s like restarting the AC, so it “loses” your preference, and allows the car to once again decide when it thinks it should be off...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

I’m guessing it’s just a firmware bug that will eventually be squashed, but I’m surprised more people aren’t complaining about this. I always do the bug report thing whenever it happens, but I’ve heard that Tesla doesn’t necessarily see those, unless you take your car in and they actively search...

    Recirculate keeps turning off

I’m currently on 2020.40.8, but this started one or two firmware updates ago: On my commute, there are a couple of areas that are notoriously stinky, so I keep recirculation turned on all the time. Prior to a recent update, this wasn’t a problem; the HVAC stayed in recirculate. Lately, it seems...

    Upgrade to FSD before increase?

All the Model 3/Y needs is an IR light source to see at night and through sunglasses. This could easily be added, either as a mod, or an upgrade. George Hotz (most recently on the Lex Fridman podcast) believes the model 3 camera is probably sufficient to do acceptable driver monitoring.

Custom Made Cooling Fans for Wireless Charging Pad

Will be interesting to see if they will be able to make this compatible with the new MagSafe iPhones. Anyway, since Apple didn’t add 120hz to the iPhone 12, I’m going to skip this one and wait for the 13. Gives me another year, at least, with my current setup.
