    Standard Range Plus Supercharging Speed

Actually I would expect the same amount of time to charge to full assuming you charge both batteries (smaller and larger) with the same C rate. Since both packs use same cell types and same module cooling there would be no need to reduce C for the SR+. But same C rate for both packs of course...

    Standard Range Plus Supercharging Speed

I‘ve recorded a timelapse on a new SR+ european version with the CCS connector on a Tesla supercharger in Germany. At the end of the video there are some charts showing more data, sorry all metric though.

    2020 Roadster @ Supercharger V3 or Model Y Launch

Probably true. The BMW i8‘s frunk also can be opened only by service technicians with the proper tools.

    SpaceX F9 - Comm Crew DM-1 - LC-39A

Unfortunately the launch time is predetermined by ISS‘ orbit. You can’t just start whenever you want.

    NASA Announcement for the Moon

I see your points. But isn’t the main goal to reach the moon and setup installations there? If there is a single-shot solution like Starship with immense flexibility on type of cargo to transport directly why not just save all the funding for creating moon habitats and supporting technology? It...

Elon hints at possibility that new Roadster really won’t have side mirrors

In Germany the new soon to be released Audi eTron will have cameras instead of mirrors - certainly for good money in the options list, but still. The images will be visualized with small HD screens in the door panels left and right. So it doesn’t seem impossible to replace ‚mirrors‘. But I...

200 kWh Roadster Pack: How is Tesla Pulling This Off?

    1. I don’t think so much the design, they are more concerned with Model 3 ramp up, figuring out Model Y and Semi - it even sounded like the Pickup has more priority. All understadable in terms of sales and market importance... 2.They haven’t build one 200kWh pack, I agree. But at least he didn’t...

    Speculative Aerodynamic Model of Thrusters

@MESM amazing insights, yes speculation, just as much as jimmy or lunitiks do, I like it! @buttershrimp you forgot to mention our expert bladder. COPV filled with water, why not?;-)

Conflicted feelings on the new Roadster

@Peteski, Go for it, I drive an i8 coupe 2016. It’s plenty fast, it’s nimble, an eye catcher, futuristic, silent (if you want) - people appreciate guarantee you! I‘ll keep it until the new roadster hits the road and even then maybe longer, who knows? A knew one gives you access to BMW‘s Pure...

    Speculative Aerodynamic Model of Thrusters

COPV wise I always thought of something like that: Would also be a better fitting form factor. But certification is a good argument and therefore maybe reusing the round COPV.

    Speculative Aerodynamic Model of Thrusters

Oh man, this thread is far from boring. I try to summarize what ideas there are right now and think about pros and cons. As @MESM said, there are 3 different models now: rocket thrust sideways rocket thrust up suction-thrust (using lower thusting side vents) Model 1 is popular because this...

    Speculative Aerodynamic Model of Thrusters

@MESM I think people here are still imaging single thrusters (maybe 8 units?) placed around the car kind of firing compressed air out to the sides in a very narrow jet. Couldn't it be more like in your model where a "single" thruster (your hair dryer :-) pushes air out into a layer beneath the...

    Neural Networks

@mrkisskiss Thanks for the link! Whenever I watch Amnon talk and explain Mobileye's current state of the art I'm always kind of overwhelmed how far they are and especially how well designed their systems is. From my outside view it's just phenomenal. I then think: Is it even possible that others...

    Neural Networks

I'm happy that they stick to a pragmatic approach, going step by step further - and letting us participate of each step. Isn't that fun for us nerds? What other car gives us this opportunity? Telling us now that they indeed work on all sorts of local roads stuff (lights, signs), even trying to...

    Hello, rear radar :-)

For RHD it makes sense to include the RF(/BT) on the right side and only to make it active thru software later for those markets. On the back it might be handy to unlock if you approach from behind and first want to open trunk?

    Falcon Heavy - 7&8 Reuse - Elon's Roadster Demo - LC-39A

And strangely nobody seemed to react to "center core lost"... just 3 guys turned around a second after, but no worried faces or such. As if they expected it to fail. Or good briefing beforehand to not show anything on negative news. Either way, great video, good insight, lots of emotions.

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

Wow, really that's it? Can't believe it, you just quitting? Must be more on that than just a lemon. Thanks though, made reading MANY threads so much more interesting. Great work! Great guy! Best knowledge.

Article: "Elon Musk’s ‘BFR’ and 21st-century space war"

You are absolutely right. Big impact. Even last year, with the first version of the BFR and settlement plans, the first thing coming to my mind was: what the heck, I don’t want “nations” over there! Is it another state, another country, or just ‘humans’ dwelling on mars? Guranteed, once BFR...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

yesterday I tried to duplicate the wiper behaviour where I have seen the wiper going from full back to intervall after rain stopped - after several minutes though. I parked before my garage, kept the car in P mode, set the wiper to Auto (which switched the wipers on), then left the car, sprayed...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

First post guys... I recently noticed on our AP2 X a kind of partial working rain sensing. It was raining quite heavily, I switched the wipers on (not interval, full), then the rain stopped but I didn't switch off the wipers or set it back to interval - kept it running. Then after 3-4 minutes...
