200 miles review: Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4

I had a set of of PS4 AS. I found the handling in general felt better than the stock. I didn’t notice a significant difference in road noise or enough change in power consumption to care. After about 25K miles I needed to replace. Tire shop tried to upsell me into the “Tesla rated” version of...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

No I didn’t. Thought about it, but I only had a few minutes to spare. There was one other car there at the time but I wasn’t able to tell if that one was charging normally. Will probably try again in a few days.

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

This site has been “reduced service” for at least a week now. I went and basically it was rapidly cycling between normal power and no power.

    Model s premium interior

I had a loaner the other day with the basic interior. The seats were partial (vegan) leather. The dash didn’t have the alcantara section in the front and the head liner was textile as well. I know some people don’t care, but I thought it all felt too cheap for the price of the car.

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

If you're stopping at the charger from off the highway, you're probably going to come off Belt parkway and head straight down Sunrise for about a mile, which is a large and busy street with a high police presence. The chargers themselves are in the middle of the Green Acres Mall and shopping...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

Honestly, considering the other NYC and LI supercharger sites, the urban superchargers are great. The other sites only have 4 stalls and thus are often full. I would much rather have a slightly slower max and great availability than waiting for a stall for 30 minutes and then getting the...

    Lets see your garage!

Here is a picture of the garage from my last house. I had planned on diassembling it and moving it with us, but the buyers loved it so much that I left it for them. Planning to do something similar for the new garage after winter is over. A39E014B-96D2-435B-921E-8DBC1F58DDCD by STbreaker posted...

    Autopilot False Positive Braking

Just curious, what was your follow distance set to? I left mine at the default (4 I think) and I haven’t experienced anything like that. However, it does give a nice cushion after the cars ahead start moving so I have a good amount of people change into my lane.

Temporarily Mounting Front Plate for Driving?

Zip ties through the front grill have been a temporary solution I’ve seen a lot. If you’re worried about the plate flapping around and hitting the paint, maybe you could pad the spots that would hit with a little adhesive foam. On a side note, I recently moved to NY, which has front plates as...

Supercharger - New York JFK, NY

Recently moved to LI and was temporarily living in a rental house with no outlet outside at all. Thus, occasional supercharging was my only decent option. I noticed a few things. I’m not saying they are absolute truths, just my experience: 1) site is pretty busy and compounded by only having 4...

INSURANCE - the Gecko was right

I'm moving to Long Island, so I've been getting new quotes for auto and home. Allstate straight up refused to insure the Tesla because I was "new business." I've had AAA my entire adult life, and have generally been happy with them, but in NY they seem to be a broker rather than an actual...

    Temporary AC outage

I had something similar happen once on my way to work a few months ago. I did reboot while driving which did nothing. Came out after my shift and it had resolved itself. Not sure why it happened and it only happened that one time. One thing I would think about though: was something obstructing...

Is Tesla Model S Heating/Cooling Effective like ICE cars?

@Tribaltech, I don't think you shouldn't get the car, just that you should know what its limitations are. I set my heat at 63 because I find it comfortable set at that temperature - granted I do leave a light jacket on usually. Using the seat warmers also helps a lot. Part of the energy usage...

Is Tesla Model S Heating/Cooling Effective like ICE cars?

The feet warmer area could be better but generally the HVAC is pretty effective. It's more a matter of if you are okay with the high energy usage. Heat in particular is a big battery drain. Now that winter is here, I tend to ride around with the temp set on 63F. When I'm on the highway (speed...

Folks living in cold/Northern States, what Model S do you own?

I think you're just realizing that having a Model S as your only car may limit your road trip capabilities in certain parts of the country. Obviously we are all hoping for/expecting some of these larger SC gaps to be filled in the future. Should you spend an extra $20K (or not buy the car)...

Folks living in cold/Northern States, what Model S do you own?

I have a 70D, but if I had to buy again I would probably get a 60D. You just have to be okay with knowing your potential range takes a decent hit in cold. Most of the time this is irrelevant for daily driving. In terms of long distance, it generally doesn't make much difference as there as...

Do we think that AP1 will get a Updated along side AP2?

There was that thread about AP1 "broken promises" recently. I would guess that whatever AP does now for us is probably about it. The other upcoming things seem like they will be AP 2.0 features. Technically that's not a broken promise, though mildly frustrating. I'm not upset since AP in its...

Sorting by "Albums" also will play tracks in order. Of course the scrolling bug and lack of search (I apparently haven't gotten this second update) make sorting this way borderline unusable if you have a lot of albums.

Is direct sale really a better model than dealerships?

I recently posted a story about my experience with my wife's Honda in another thread. To make a long story short: a dealer (which has since closed unfortunately) botched the repair of a factory defect. The botched repair job subsequently caused another failure. Honda used the franchise...

    8.0 Music Player Unusable

I have been using streaming more because of how they broke the USB playback. I have 2 complaints about streaming... 1) They don't really have all the music I like, though I'll admit I have some obscure likes. But even what they do have is hard to cultivate on the car interface - I really would...

    8.0 Music Player Unusable

I'm not arguing just for the sake of arguing, but it is a bit optimistic to say that most people don't care about playing songs in order. Also it is not a "small inconvenience" to retag literally thousands of tracks to get them to play in order for this one interface because they didn't bother...

    My outdated 2016 Model S

I think the answer to that is to order when you like the available features and be happy with your awesome ride. Yeah, I apparently missed AP 2.0 by a few months but it's not like those changes are free. I prefer my AP 1.0 for $2500 vs 2.0 hardware for $8000 - at least at this point in time.

[Poll] - are you mad that your new Tesla just missed Autopilot 2.0?

I walked in the garage a few minutes ago and felt the same about my car as I did a few hours prior - absolute joy. I'm not angry at all, especially given the high price tag. I've only had my car for a few months and I'm happy with what the current AP does. I certainly don't think there will be...

    P75D Model S???

I laughed because everyone at work acts like I drive a "P"70D, even though some of their cars cost just as much if not more than mine... There was also that British magazine review recently of a Model S which kept referring to the car as a "P70D" I think. Does bring me back to the 75kw...

Which candidate is better for Tesla?

    Blackvue Dashcam Install on 2016

I did it all myself, but I can tell you that it will be difficult to damage the car if they only use the microphone grill connector for power. At worst, you might break a trim clip. There wasn't an obvious way to run it through the rearview mirror that I found. Instead, I just pulled the connectors out the front of the headliner where the camera is installed. I think most everything is better aside from the USB library issues I've commented on in a few threads. If you don't live near a service center they try to have rangers available to that area. There are no service centers in MI at all.
