    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

Generally we are for good efficient use of resources.

    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

I do not get the detailed maps argument. It doesn't take much detail to show lanes. In the case of the upcoming merge, the car can use 'low-detail' maps for that (planning) information.

    Problem After Updating to 2021.4.18

There are other threads detailing similar problems, even through reboots and powerdowns. The good news is that they self corrected after a day ... perhaps because the car went to *sleep*. Seems to me that some varuzbkes change with the update, and do not get reset ... needs a complete cold...

Possibly they will use piles for places where heavy equipment will be placed, such as stamp press, and not use them elsewhere. But, me no know.

The 3's cable needs to have thick outside insulation because of its high voltage, and we can appreciate the heft of it when he picked it up. The pipe allows lighter cable, or even loose wires inside it, and is still protective to occupants and workers.

Service center experience: trading my 3 in for a Mercedes

Where are you? Service in Victoria is ranger plus borrowed bays at Ferny's. I am scheduled for a hw3 upgrade in mid-March here. Lemur 2019.03

Interesting. I just opened Openstreetmap.org and it is centred on GF1. Zooming out a bit fails to show that building, but does show the three surrounding it.

It's not the total volume that is devastating, but rather the loss of relatively small amount of cars that will hurt the bottom lines of OEMs, particularly their profitable luxury brands.

Many interpreted that, poorly worded, statement as saying that profitability was obtained during the year, ie in one or more quarters, not that the year as a whole was profitable. Writing non-ambiguous statements is harder than one might think, so I like to give some 'benefit of doubt' to...

I expect you need a fast SD card to accept the video well.

Nvidia introduces new FSD computer chip

You tiresome bashing of 'typical Tesla fans' does not do your arguments any favors. Technology progresses, and each chip will be leap-frogged by the next. So, you are right, NVidias next chip will be great, and better than Teslas current chip. Big deal. Thanks for the info, but no thanks...

Fixed object detection in Autopilot/FSD (out of main)

Lidar requires much compute, too. It returns a bunch of dots as distances. The computer still needs to correlate all those dots, and determine that a group of them represents a stopped object. I suspect that this was a case of a lead car changing lanes, and the firetruck becoming a surprise.

    Mid Range Battery Math

I have seen suggestions that one needs to charge to 90% and leave connected for 6h to let the car balance the cells. It would be nice to get some definitive info from Tesla.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agree. In the past, using smaller vehicles was limited due to propulsion systems and/or adequate control systems. Trains are mostly point to point with some stops. Each stop inconveniences all through-passengers. Smaller units with allow multiple destinations and more frequent service. It...

Does Canada get all the features of 2019.40.50.1?

We just need some patience. The world is a big place, and each locale has its own rules etc. I expect we will get the functionality in Canada soon.

Microphone and voice recognition not working after install of 2019.40.50.1

Theory is that Tesla servers are getting swamped with everyone trying this out. I have had hit and miss responses. Likely needs action at Tesla's end. Hoping it is fixed soon.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Tesla bought a company that specializes in compressing NNs, ie getting similar function with smaller NNs. This would appear to be a way to to take hw3 NN and squeeze it into a hw2.x. EM did tweet that they had some more work to do re 2.x.

    Slacker downgraded to free slacker?

It's getting to the point that I will just stop using it, defaulting to USB. Shame. Tesla stuff is usually onwards and upwards, this feels like going backwards.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think the main argument against the Waymo/Cruise approach is that it is very dependent on detailed mapping and Lidar. The concern is that this approach does not scale well. I.e. it is hard to generalize the specific to whole. E.g., while you might learn extremely well around you bedroom...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

There was concern that certain packs might have a fire risk at higher charge levels. Tesla did an update to mitigate that risk to 'normal' or below. Range was affected but not below warranty levels in most cases. Real range depends on many things, reported range is a guesstimate. I hope that...

    2019.32.11.1 And autosteer/autopilot

It is well known that reducing price increases demand. However, anexcelkent EV is a new phenomenon and demand for the Model 3, while price sensitive, is also driven by curiosity, lust, and jealousy. Even with no price reduction, demand will increase. Tesla's problem has always been to match...
