    HW3 Install Time

2.5 hours for me today on a 2018 build with electrical wiring rework required. That includes the time for them to do a test drive and change the air filter.

Model 3 HW3 retrofit questions, wait time, issues

Got mine done today. Took 2.5 hours while I waited in the showroom. Electrical rework was required for my Sep 18 build. Only had to re-add my home WiFi network and reconnect my phone via Bluetooth (though phone key worked without doing that). They took it for a test drive and calibration...

For AWD owners wanting a P3D-

In addition to seeing this all the time, I frequently see people dive to get in front of me on a cloverleaf ramp as I'm merging onto the highway/accelerating and they think they need to get in front of me to make their exit. Drives me nuts. They have no idea how hard I can accelerate.

    B-pillar cameras fogging up?

I believe it is a very recent change. He told me that this was the direction they received from Tesla engineering from the time I scheduled my appointment (Dec 2nd) to when they came out to repair it (Dec 23rd). My appointment had been for Dec 13th, and they made me reschedule because the "parts...

    B-pillar cameras fogging up?

I just had a tech over on Monday. He told me this as well, and said that he put a new backing on the camera with this patch. He said it's essentially the same thing as the redesigned part. It basically makes the camera less weather sealed to allow the interior HVAC system to remove the...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

I know, but why couldn't the way to exit hold mode and engage creep again simply be to tap on the accelerator the same way you can today if you're in hold mode regardless of how you entered hold mode? Creep on reverse, creep when rolling forward and not pressing the accelerator, after having...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

You would simply tap the accelerator the same way you can today when you're in creep mode and you manually engage hold by pressing harder on the brake. One light tap and the car will start creeping forward again. I do this every day.

For AWD owners wanting a P3D-

Noticed the following on page 179 of the latest owners manual. It seems really strange to me that the RWD can handle a higher maximum current than the non-performance AWD. I knew that there's speculation that the performance may have a different rear motor, but I always thought that the RWD and...

V10 Impressions from those who have installed the update

Well this was really interesting to me at least. I was on 2019.32.10.1 and wondering why I wasn’t getting 2019.32.11 like everyone else seems to be (at least per TeslaFi), so I clicked on the Software tab. Prior to this, I did not show the pending update icon on the status bar. As soon as I...

PSA-Front trunk (frunk) unlatched while driving

I understand the legality and the purpose of it. I should have clarified that I'm not advocating permanent disablement, just offering a potential temporary option to prevent this from happening if you know you're going to put something in the frunk that can trigger it.

PSA-Front trunk (frunk) unlatched while driving

Just an FYI, this happened to me as well while driving and I discovered that it is extremely easy to disable the internal frunk release button. If you just grasp the plastic housing around the frunk latch mechanism, it easily pulls off with a light tug and there's a small cable running to that...

I believe you're referring to the 75D uncork. They gave people a full second off their 0-60 time for free. This happened three months after the introduction of factory uncorked 75Ds. I'm not saying it should be free this time, but just agreeing with you that Tesla has definitely done this before.

For AWD owners wanting a P3D-

When I bought my AWD, it was an $11K price increase just to get to the level of the "Stealth P3D". Another $5K to get the performance package. Speaking only to my personal situation, it was fiscally irresponsible to spend $11K on just the faster motor. It would be even more irresponsible for me...

What usb drive GB do you use for dash cam?

I use this 500GB Samsung T5 SSD. Works perfectly. 500GB is overkill for now, at least until/if they add more cameras. Price is good though considering what you get. Does Software Update preference > ADVANCED do anything?

Curious to hear what others report now. I just got 20.1 the instant TeslaFi started showing installs beyond California and Europe. I have Advanced selected and was a 2018 purchaser of FSD. I'm never in the initial blast of an update, so I think this setting may actually do something.

Does Software Update preference > ADVANCED do anything?

I wouldn't feel bad yet. If the full TeslaFi data (see attached) is any true indication of the broader fleet, the 20.1 update is currently only going to California...and Europe. 3 LR RWD - 325 mile Test

I have to agree with @mswlogo here. As a reminder to those that may have forgotten, when the EPA first tested the LR RWD, they came up with a result of 334 miles of range. The "Tesla Desired Range" of 310 miles shown below, indicates a voluntary reduction in the EPA rated range. After that, many...

    Winter tire wear

I should have clarified that I was running Pirelli Sottozero II tires. I really do think it has a lot to do with how much torque the Model 3 throws down. I'm no expert though. I believe the AWD model is a RWD car the majority of the time due to the more efficient PMSR rear motor and it only...

    Winter tire wear

My winter tires started at 11/32 new at the start of the season. When I took them off after 3,000 miles, the rears were at 9/32 and the fronts were still at 11/32. Doesn't surprise me too much considering the 3 is heavily rear wheel-biased and I like to stomp on it sometimes.

Well, I know it will turn on, but I'm curious if anyone has experience with how much data it will save.
