One-fob-click door close is the devil

The remote could look exactly the same as it does now, and have default functions identical to those at present. But those who feel it doesn't work for them could reconfigure. Why does that sound so awful? I configure my trackpad once when I get a new computer and then never change it again...

One-fob-click door close is the devil

Another possibility is that the top button could be held for a long time. Not sure if this is an emergency alert now like with other remotes, but perhaps that could be selectable. I'm thinking of computer menus that allow complete configuration of a mouse (or trackpad). Perhaps a programmable...

8.0 XM Channel List - Where Did it Go?

Haven't figured this out either. It also appears that XM station names show up on some views and in others, only as a channel number (which is next to useless, for those of us who haven't memorized them).

    HVAC became inoperable today!

I got my car back on Thursday following the replacement of the AC condenser. Car cools beautifully now. Much quieter, though occasionally loud at times. Repair took a long time (nearly three weeks) but the service center customer service was great and I was even given an X loaner for part of...

    HVAC became inoperable today!

Very good question--from my vantage (having lived in many parts of this great country) it looks like neither Utah nor NY! But pastoral--at least as much as that is possible in an overpriced resort at a massive theme park. Kids are happy, though, which is what matters.

    HVAC became inoperable today!

Just realized something funny...we're staying at Disney Saratoga Springs, and you're from the real thing!

    HVAC became inoperable today!

Thanks for your comments. The only reason I'm not in complete agreement with your view is that the car was exactly 2 weeks old when I started having problems. Perhaps if I was getting a new compressor for a car nearing the end of warranty coverage I'd be celebrating a bit more. And as for...

    HVAC became inoperable today!

No final update but my X was dropped off five days ago and I've been informed that the compressor has failed and was leaking Freon. Parts pending arrival at the SC. I'll update this thread when I have the car back and have the full story.

6 seat versus 7 seat - need HELP please

I'm in a similar situation. 4 kids including 13 yo triplets now over 5' tall. Very glad we went with the six seat version. The third row doesn't feel nearly as cramped with the open 2nd row seat. And visibility and access also improved. This is a slam dunk for me. Good luck!

    Key not in car warning

It's happened to me with my key in the cell phone compartment in front of the armrest, not sitting near my phone.
  12. K

    HVAC became inoperable today!

Sounds very similar to the problems I'm having (poorly functional AC and loud fans) and my VIN is much higher (8300s). Will report back after my service experience (being dropped off this Thursday).

    HVAC became inoperable today!

Mine intermittently working too (more often not). Not completely dead, but temperature often well above setting. Scheduled for SC visit Thursday--will report back. My VIN 83**

    Key not in car warning

I've had my car for a couple of weeks and have seen this warning repeatedly despite having the key. Clearly a bug.

Well...it's already come to this. Clue in today's NYT mini crossword (see image).

    Does anyone hear the COWBELL?

No doubt that Tesla "borrowed" heavily from Maserati. But the best example of a successful design ripoff is Ford's grill from Aston Martin.

    Consumer Reports Article 7-14-16

We have a GMC Yukon with both distance-aware cruise control and lane awareness control. This effectively constitutes the same thing as Tesla's autopilot, with the only difference being that neither is as well executed as the Tesla's version. Why isn't CU suggesting that ALL such systems be...

One-fob-click door close is the devil

I believe a tight fitting rubbery thing that is designed to prevent unintended consequences is called a "prophylactic."

One-fob-click door close is the devil

I'm not even sure how I did it, but I became the latest victim yesterday while pulling a few food bags out of the second row. I somehow triggered the all-door close function, and ended up squished by the left FWD. No actual injury, but unpleasant for sure.

    Model X July Deliveries

I was actually contacted by another member of this forum with a very similar VIN that his car was going into production, which at that time was quite a surprise. I then contacted my DS, who informed me that he had been planning to notify me that mine was also entering production (I have no...

    Model X July Deliveries

Thank you!!! That is great news, and I wish you the best with your delivery.

    Model X July Deliveries

I'm going to try and be brief in describing my delivery experience yesterday and my initial thoughts, and plan to summarize my first impressions more completely a week or so after I've driving it a bit. As seen in my signature, I ordered in Mid May, so picked up the car less than 2 months...

    Model X Delivery Checklist

I also wanted to express thanks here for the effort put into the checklist. I read it carefully, and brought it on an iPad to the delivery. While I would have liked to say I systematically went through every line, what really happened is that I used it as a general guide, and was generally too...

    Model X July Deliveries

Just an update to note that I'm scheduled to pick up my X tomorrow, assuming no unpleasant surprises. Less than two months after placing my order, for those who are wondering. Exciting!

Another Model X crash, driver says autopilot was engaged

I honestly wonder where you get your facts. Boeing's most advanced plane, the 787, has dual HUDs standard: Innovative 787 Flight Deck Designed for Efficiency, Comfort, and Commonality And Airbus is also outfitting A340s and A380s with them now. And they describe the advantages here...

Another Model X crash, driver says autopilot was engaged

You certainly have a right to state your opinion. I can't speak to your comment about films from smoking obscuring the HUD, but I can categorically state that mine (a modern 5-series HUD) works very well, including in the sunlight. And I find it less distracting than glancing at a central...
  27. K

Another Model X crash, driver says autopilot was engaged

Then perhaps you should have said Toyota's HUDs do not work in the sunlight and are the worst thing ever. I happen to like my BMW HUD and will miss it. Your comment is like saying you heard an awful car radio once, so "car radios are the worst thing EVER."
  28. K

Another Model X crash, driver says autopilot was engaged

I have no idea what system you've used. Mine works perfectly in sunlight. And doesn't distract me at all. Used mostly for Nav directions and for the speedometer. My only issue with it is it disappears through polarized sunglasses, so I wear regular ones in the car.

Another Model X crash, driver says autopilot was engaged

Agree--one thing I will miss in my 535i to Model X migration is my HUD!

Alliant Credit Union 1.49% for 72 months

I also financed 90%, but the loan value was above 100K. So this situation probably did relate to their assessment of risk. Although my score is typically over 800, I often get dinged for not having enough revolving credit. And my AMEX bill (paid in full each month) variably affects my score...

Alliant Credit Union 1.49% for 72 months

Strangely enough, people do shop even when they're paying retail. I would agree with your statement with one minor revision: "...they can't raise rates if they want to continue originate {a disproportionate share of} Tesla loans." Back to your original post, I think there could be a multitude...

Alliant Credit Union 1.49% for 72 months

I honestly have no idea. But I think your conjecture is a bit akin to saying Bloomingdale's 4th of July sale is ending because the market for clothing is collapsing.
  34. K

Alliant Credit Union 1.49% for 72 months

All of to explain the fact that Alliant may be ending a low interest rate period? Solar City and Autopilot PR evoked here? Seems like a bit of a doomsday explanation to me. And based on what other people are hearing from Alliant, likely false.
  35. K

Alliant Credit Union 1.49% for 72 months

This mirrors my experience. I was sent a PM by another forum member recommending Alliant. Before that, I was going to go with my local credit union with an 1.84% loan/60 months with 10% down but this was just too easy. Applied online on a weekend, had pre-approval for 1.49%/60 within a few...

Let us know how they respond. I'll be dealing with the same service center when mine arrives and hoping you have a positive experience. This will be my first Tesla, too.

    Model X July Deliveries

I received confirmation today that my 90D has apparently completed production and is on its way to South Florida. DS suggested it might even be here early next week and should be ready to pick up well before I return from travel after Independence Day. Very exciting and the relatively rapid...

Took delivery of VIN 24xx P90DL in Fremont on 2016/05/23

Thanks for sharing your experience. At least for you, Fremont isn't far away. That would be a nightmare for me. Hope you have your car back soon, and in perfect condition.

    Model X June Deliveries

Wow--that's crazy and I can't imagine how much it costs to transport an SUV by plane. I would guess this is motivated both to limit your tax burden and to maximize quarterly delivery numbers.

    Model X June Deliveries

Great news--clearly there are multiple cars in the high 7000s, low 8000s in production and/or complete and likely to be delivered within weeks. Congrats!

Picked up new 70D yesterday - Looking great!

Congrats--touching to name it after your father. Mine is also an engineer, and happy he'll get to experience my MX which should be here within weeks. Life is precious and unpredictable so enjoy the happiness the car will bring.

    Model X July Deliveries

I've posted this in the June thread but re-posting here. I received a very encouraging PM from another member of this forum with a similar configuration and VIN. Prompted by that I emailed my DS who told me my car was in production, and should be ready for delivery when I hoped (following a...

    Model X June Deliveries

    Got my Model X

Congrats--that's wonderful news. Care to share VIN information for others in SoFL also awaiting 90Ds? As I'll post shortly I've been told mine is in production, but I'm still curious what VINs are being delivered in our region.

    Twin babies and Model X?

I had to smile when I read this, as we thought that would be the case when we had triplets (surprise). Then we had a bigger surprise (#4).
