Rear ended another vehicle, not blaming Tesla but wondering why AEB did not activate?

Sorry to hear that!... I recently had a similar accident. Merging just like you were, through it was a double lane of merging and an SUV cut me off moving right to left across the two merge lands and then slammed on the brakes and I didn't manage to get stopped. AP, nor TACC, were on. The AEB...

    Climate Hero Kids

Thanks Runt8! I wish we could have it out by Christmas, though the publishing world's pace is preventing that. Think we are really onto something fun and compelling. Thanks for the encouragement! And please do sign up to our mailing list to be kept up to date as we make progress...

LOL! I'm not him, though that is funny! If he's a Tesla driver and Climate Action supporter, maybe we could enlist his support ;)

Andy you rock! 30 mins of tinkering and a little work with a knife and it works and saved tons of bucks and frustration! Cheers, Paul.

    Model 3 Roof Rack Options

Anybody hear anything recent on this? Even the Tesla service guys that I know still have zero answer... one even said "the 3 is an around-town city car... S and X are for loading up with skis and bikes"... my jaw dropped open. Starting to sound like no solutions (without suction cups or...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Our CPO purchased 2015 S that we bought a year ago has been awesome and the few things that needed attention at delivery time were addressed quickly and with great service by Tesla.

    Model 3 Roof Rack Options

Unreal that Tesla still has said nothing on this. As a skiing and biking family, we can't buy the 3 until they explain how a rack that is removable can be used... and not suction cups, or hooks that go inside the door frame.

    So sick of the negativity

Awesome post! Of all the fellow T drivers I meet, I have never found even one who regrets the purchase or who doesn't try to explain to everybody he/she meets that this is the future and it's awesome in more ways than we can convey in a couple minutes. Let the haters and shorters keep...

Buyer beware. Buying a CPO Tesla feels like a SCAM.

Glad they did right by you in the end. Don't bail man... we bought a CPO 2015 S a year ago and have loved every minute of it and their service (in Vancouver, Canada). Don't let a couple bad eggs spoil a great long term experience for you ;)

    Model 3 Roof Rack Options

2 Tesla sales people have said that racks will only connect in to the Model 3 on the solid roof version (not glass roof). I see the photo above, but anybody hear anything different lately direct from a Tesla person? At the very least, bundling the glass roof with the premium package is a...

    Brakes temporarily not working!

T could do something like this via software, no? I forwarded this video to them when I got the usual post-service email questionnaire.

    Brakes temporarily not working!

Scary stuff really. I feel like they need to find a real solution, instead of making excuses about regen, etc. Somebody is going to get badly hurt if they don't solve this... especially when the 3 is shipping in high volume.

    Brakes temporarily not working!

They said I already had revised pads and splash shields, and that to prevent this in the future we should turn regen to low from time to time in the winter in our dirty/salty climate to keep the pads floating freely in their mounts on the callipers. I'm not entirely comfortable with this...

    Brakes temporarily not working!

Yes, somewhat. I think I know where you are going... I thought the same at first... antilock braking doing the best it could. After experiencing it several times, I became convinced otherwise... including doing a test myself that involved spraying water from a hose into the brakes and then...

    Brakes temporarily not working!

Do you know what that simple fix was? We just had this occur in wet weather... just missed having an accident. Vancouver Service is looking into it, but hasn't got back to me with a solution yet. Thanks, Paul.

    Braking in rain

I have experienced the exact same thing 3 times in rainy/slushy weather this week. 1 of the 3 times I sailed through a stop sign because of it (only going 30 km/h and the car wouldn't stop). And I turned Regen Braking to Low and it happened again. Seriously concerning. This is our first issue...

    Understanding the battery heater

Looks to me like they quietly pushed a change to battery warming in a recent update. Our car is set to charge nightly to the recommended 80% level and in the past few mornings I've noticed it to be about 5% less than that though plugged in. So it seems the system now pre-warms the battery...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

Ouch ;) Do you suspect that the HW2 platform can capture enough info for future s/w algorithm enhancements to achieve avoidance? I really wonder if HW2 will achieve full autonomous travel... many times we engineers don't know what we don't know, until we get out there and try... I suspect HW2...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

Anybody know what AP does (or will do in the near future) if there is an obstacle in the road, like something that feel off a truck or a rock too be to let a tire hit?

    Current 10 busiest Superchargers, worldwide

Interesting. Would love to see another slice of data that shows how many Teslas are active each week in major cities... e.g. Vancouver has no Superchargers at all, and yet I suspect it could be in the the Top 10 worldwide for number of Teslas in a major city.

(Yet another) Code for Founder Series Model S for Kids by Radio Flyer

Steeve had to decline. I'm still open to part with it for $US 350 ... sounds very easy to give you the code and then it gets delivered directly to you and you get to choose the color option.

Did this work out smoothly for you both? I've been awarded a code for one of these and also don't wish to take ownership of it and am willing to sell the code for $US 400, which I believe will enable somebody to pick the color and ship-to address. Is that how it went for you guys?

Supercharger protocol a superset of CCS?

I'm not aware that there is a data channel over the charging cable to transmit the VIN from car to charger.
  32. PaulS

Supercharger protocol a superset of CCS?

Think I've figured it out... since the car is internet connected, it detects being plugged in and takes appropriate actions based on it's settings. So the Superchargers themselves don't have to know at all about the cars plugging in to them. The car plugs in, comms with servers in Freemont and...

    Whats in those Superchargers

That makes complete sense. So the Superchargers themselves don't have to know at all about the cars plugging in to them. The car plugs in, comms with servers in Freemont and ba-da-bing billing triggered as required. Thanks.

Supercharger protocol a superset of CCS?

Thanks. How is the VIN sent by the car to the Sp? Through what physical comms method?

Supercharger protocol a superset of CCS?

How do Superchargers know how to bill owners for electricity or not?... ie. how does a Supercharger detect if your car/account has Supercharging-for-life or not, since currently we don't have to "check in" at Superchargers to indicate who we are? Does the Supercharger use the charge cable, WiFi...

Buy a pre-owned nearing cap of warranty miles: go or no-go?

Committed to the 2015 70D with 38k km from Tesla Vancouver. Fair price, great shape car, done deal. Thanks folks! BTW come visit the north end of the coast highway someday... our rental home www.shoresatlund.com has a Tesla charger already ;)

Buy a pre-owned nearing cap of warranty miles: go or no-go?

Seems it isn't going to happen because the dealer isn't answering my request to buy the extended warranty for us... which makes me suspect that it actually isn't even possible to do so after the fact. Good news is we have found a 2015 70D direct from Tesla that we have put a deposit down on and...

Buy a pre-owned nearing cap of warranty miles: go or no-go?

We are shopping for a pre-owned 2015 70/75/85D and have found a good fit, but it has 72k km on it, so it's close to the 80k warranty cap. It seems it can be had for around $CDN 85k (ie. $US 62k), which is a good price if it wasn't for the pending lack of warranty. Would you touch it or stay...
