Need advice on 2017 Model X

Yes, I already made it happen. MCU upgraded last week. Definitely breathed new life into the car. Gonna get a whole car wrap to make it feel new to me as well. I appreciate all the advice and the push in the right direction.

Need advice on 2017 Model X

Like @scottf200 said, yes I am completely irrational about warranty related issues. I am self aware of that. And you're right, doing the math, I would still be ahead in cost/value/time. And like @Shaz said, the kids definitely have some sentimental attachment to the car and it's well "lived...

Need advice on 2017 Model X

Here's the scenario . . . I own a 2017 model x. I have not upgraded the MCU (yet). It is paid off. My wife primarily drives it and puts maybe 3k miles/yr. We do use it to drive to our beach house frequently and a few road trips every year up to PA to visit in laws, etc. My daily driver is a...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Interesting. I was not given the option for delivery and told I'm not in an area that gets delivery. I could only pick up. For the record, I live in NOVA.

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

F378 MYP black, black, no tow, no fsd. Delivery confirmed for next week in Tysons, VA. Confirmed a/s tires with Intel chip. Did not inquire about heated wipers or battery (I'm guessing no to both).

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

This is also true. All season tires will always have a longer tread life compared to performance summer tires. Also, summer tires are absolutely horrendous once the temperature drops below 40. I drive a lot and swap out my summer tires on my model X every year for the winter. Would definitely...

    Recent MYP Delivery Estimates

Did you get confirmation about tires or heated wipers? I'm also in VA with same dates. Don't really care about Intel vs Ryzen or new li battery, as this is only a 2 yr lease to get me through the wait for my CT. I do, however, want the a/s tires and would like the heated wipers! Seems way more...

    When to tint?

a few weeks later should be fine. The tint needs about 24hrs to cure and within a week, all bubbles should be gone. If you're appointment is >1 wk out . . . no problem.

Moving to Alaska with Tesla X

In the Northeast, our winters are definitely milder compared to Alaska, but I drive 80 miles round trip without issue. I lose about 25% more juice in the cold. Always keep it plugged in at home. Not only does this ensure your juiced up for your next drive, but I regularly use the app to preheat...

    Tesla android app login error

Ugh, thank you. Just got a new pixel 6 pro and I couldn't sign in. Tried changing my password, deleting and redownload app, turned off VPN....nothing. Turning off wifi was the trick. Not sure why that must be done, but I appreciate you!

New symbol (circled 15!) And double speed limit

Interesting. It did happen in a school zone (although, it's a 40mph zone with speed cameras). I pass this school at all hours of the day several times a week since owning the car (2017 MX with HW 2.0 and EAP). I have never seen it until now. However, the 15! makes sense in that context.

New symbol (circled 15!) And double speed limit

Just got my car back from service for half shaft replacement and they updated the 8gb eMMC. Noticed 2 things; 1) double speed limit - looks like one speed limit sign superimposed over another. Goes away after 10-20 seconds, but seems to come back over and over again. 2) small white circle with...

Have ordered - but interior concerns..

I know this is a joke and you probably knew this already, but since I recently learned this fact . . . figured I would share for others to be educated. Corinthian leather is not an actual type of leather at all, it is a marketing term It was, in fact, branded by Chrysler and actually was...

Foam bag installation fender and a pillar

I feel ridiculous, but I can't seem to find these foam bag inserts. What are they specifically called? Better yet.... Can someone just attach a link with an example of where to buy it. I'm really curious about this, but for the life of me can't find it anywhere.

Best seat configuration for toddler and newborn

I've got a 6 seat MX. My 6 yo son sits in the driver side 3rd row seat (forward facing booster). My 2yo daughter sits in the second row passenger side (rear facing). Free charging NOVA

Not sure about public stations, but if someone is in the area and needs an emergency charge, I'm always happy to offer up my driveway for a couple of hours. All Seasons or Snow Tires for NoVA/DC/MD?

My whole life I have only used AS, but 2 winters ago I slipped on the ice with my X, smashed into the curb and caused about $3500 damage (destroyed one rim and broke the subframe on front pass wheel). So, I decided to get a set of winter tires. Last winter was my first winter with them...

    Supercharger Desert in Maryland

IMHO (and for the greater good of the Tesla community), most people in the DMV are using their home chargers and therefore, not crowding the superchargers. I'm sure there are some taking advantage, but it seems to be less of an issue when compared to say, the west coast. I'm sure the fact that...

Would you recommend Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for MX?

There is a slight decrease in efficiency. I usually run around 275-300 Whm on road trips, but with the x rack loaded up with large cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, etc . . . . I was maybe doing 350 Whm. Not remotely enough difference to cause any range anxiety. I was still able to use...

    3rd-party Wheel Options

I used carid.com. You can narrow it down on the website, but I strongly recommend calling their customer service to confirm your choices. Apparently, the large brakes calipers on the Tesla wheels make some rims incompatible (even if the online system says it will work). The customer service...

First Road Trip - Any Advice?

This is all accurate information above. Do what you need to do to be comfortable with this trip. However, afterwards.... You will realize how silly it is to have the range anxiety. I get it though. We've all been through it. Gotta experience it for yourself to truly get over it!

    Squeeky suspension?

Just got the car back. Replaced the control arm (just as suspected). Noise is now gone. I did inquire about the 'windshield wiper inlet valve". Squeeky suspension?

A few days ago, I noticed an incredibly loud squeeking noise coming from (what sounds like) the front passenger wheel well. Experience with charging in the street, Arlington, VA?

That looks great! Good job! As far as whether or not to keep the car plugged in . . . . "A happy Tesla is a plugged in Tesla". In other words, the car should always be plugged in when possible (remember to limit charge to 90% or less max charge). I wouldn't worry so much about the cord being...

Liberty Mutual "alternative fuel" discount doesn't include Model 3 (or any EVs)

Just my 2 cents.... I was with Liberty Mutual for a while. I just last month bc they increased my rate significantly. Geico was almost half (went from $3700/yr with Liberty vs $1800/yr with geico). That was for one MX and one dodge durango, plus multi policy discount. When I called to cancel...

Experience with charging in the street, Arlington, VA?

Honestly, that looks fine. You can have an electrician mount a Nema 14-50r outlet in an all weather electrical box either on the wall where your BBQ is or on a post, just on the inside of your fence. I'm not sure what the distance is from the bbq to the street, but it might be long enough...

    0-60mph changed on the 75D?

I've got an uncorked 2017 mx 100d. Still holding strong in the mid 4's for 0-60. It's not a super car by any means, but holy $hit, the passing torque (above 40mph) is insane Blows almost any car away (short of a performance model ) .

    new tires/wheels or just tires?

That does matter. I was under the impression they were, although I am not 100% sure. If the wheels are just simple alloy rims, then swapping them out for something else (under 35 lbs/wheel) seems like a better idea.

Would you recommend Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for MX?
