Supercharger - Melbourne (Box Hill), Vic

So many Melbourne superchargers in a few kilometres of each other. Northern suburbs have a big gap in coverage.

    Battery Upgrade in Future??

In old Elon interviews he said that if a new battery technology comes along in the future it would be possible to retrofit them to existing Model S’s. (This was before the X). So sounds like he is open to upgrade if new tech comes out.

"Handover party for first 30 customer Model 3's on (July) 28th!"

The people getting their Model 3 today - do you think they were invited to configure their car in private? Or they got no choice, black or red maybe.

    Model X Range

280wh/km does seem high. On a similar trip to Sorento my S 75kwh gets down to 170wh/km. Driving more slowly is a massive improver of range. If you could bare to drive at 90km/h instead of 100+ you would see a dramatic improvement.

Returning to Melbourne with my Model S

Also the SIM card would need to be changed to an Australian Testra one. That would not be free as Testra would want money for the lifetime 3G connection to their network which is normally built into the local cost of the Model S. Good luck, let us know what you do!

weird question -- is the 60D slightly slower since it's not 100% charge of the battery?

I've just upgraded my Model S 60 to 75 and at 100% it felt a little faster.

Tesla Model S 60 to 75 kW upgrade just went to $3050!

So originally the upgrade to a 75 was $10500 and now today it's down to $3050! I just paid. Seems too good a deal to pass up and just in case it went up again! Anyone else pull the trigger? It is going to long road trips much less stressful and improve resale eventually. People who paid $10500...

Did any AP1 Model X's make it to Australia?

Just out of interest, did Autopiliot Hardware 1 Model X's make it to Austraila? I was tossing up between S60 and the X60 and the design studio for X was live before the announcement for hardware 2 was made. Also I remember the X60 was around $120,000, seems cheap for an X now!

    8.1 in Australia

Just got the 8.1 update on my late AP1 60 S. Sketch pad works so our toddler will be pleased. As others have said, not much difference. Apparently there are Google star ratings next to businesses which may be helpful. Originally Elon said with 8.1 AP1 would take highway exits in line with the...

Noisy Model S wipers since new?

Tesla changed them for free when I went in about the 12V battery failure. They seem better but it hasn't rained yet. The new wipers where free. Good service from Tesla.

Just got the 12v battery needs replacing warning after 5 months

Just got back from Tesla. They gave good service. They said they checked the 12V battery and the logs say that it never went below 12.4V so they just disconnected it and then did a "Gateway reboot" and the error message went. So it was put down to a "software glitch". They said if it happens...

    charger not charging

Try using the mobile charger in a normal 240v socket. If it charges you know it's probably not the car, it's likely the wall charger.

Just got the 12v battery needs replacing warning after 5 months

Or the Model S in France that caught on fire during the test drive, that may be the fastest return to the service centre ever.. Looking on the bright side of life maybe they can fix the bloody wipers whilst they are changing the battery...!

Just got the 12v battery needs replacing warning after 5 months

I guess if you pay for a 12v battery after warranty expires, the new battery would have to have at least a 12 month warranty on it by Australian law?! Actually if you buy the car on "environmental grounds" then you got to think way is happening with all those dead 12v batteries... Was hoping a...

Just got the 12v battery needs replacing warning after 5 months

Just received the warning message in the dash "The 12v battery needs replacement, contact service centre". After only 5 months since new, a new record? Tesla Richmond not answering the phone too.

Noisy Model S wipers since new?

Thanks for the replies. I have tried a mixture of the advice with a little bit of success. I bought the Auto Glym glass cleaner and put the wipers in service mode (be sure to have the switch off on the stalk too otherwise the button is greyed out). I cleaned so the surface was immaculate. That...

    8.1 in Australia

I heard they have to keep 3G going for at least another ten years as ATM's and vending machines often use a 3G connection to feed sales data back to base. If 3G was shut down, tens of thousands of machines would have to be retrofitted with 4G.
  19. joninmelbourne

    8.1 in Australia

Spotify Premium would use much more data playing songs for an hour than a slow web browser surfing text sites for an hour so not why Telstra would be worrried. They could easily limit it to 500mb of surfing a week or something if they are worried about data usage.

    8.1 in Australia

Also the Aussie regulators stuffed up auto lane change in AP1. In America, you can just press the indicator stalk in the direction you want to change lanes. Here, you press he indicator stalk and the "hold wheel now" warning comes on and you have to apply some turning force to get it to move...

First Tesla in Oz listed under $100K?

I think the rising price of the Model S and X will help keep resale values up. A few months ago the base Model S was $115,000 delivered, now $10,000 more and minus unlimited Supercharging.

    HUD ("Heads Up Display") Discussion

I've got the most base Model S you can get, rear motor 60 with no options and solid black paint. Will be interested if a loaded 3 would have more features. I am guessing no free Spotify or 3G / 4G internet on the 3.

For those that paid for 60kWh to 75 kWh upgrade, was it worth it?

I have a 60 rear wheel drive in Australia and agree with many in this thread, if it comes down to $3000 US then maybe, but at $10500 Australian here it's not worth it to me. You could buy a decent petrol car as an emergency stand by long distance car for that money! Curious at some of the...

Noisy Model S wipers since new?

My 2016 late Model S has had noisy wipers since day one. They squeak and vibrate when it is raining even heavily. Happens when windscreen is very clean or very dirty - the bottom of the drivers side wiper vibrates when it moves. Is this just a problem with mine or everybodies? Cheers

First Tesla in Oz listed under $100K?

If the price in the article was not a drive away price, why would they say "in Australia Capital Territory". The state is what affects the driveaway price. I'm not saying it is definitely a drive away price - but I'm curious!

First Tesla in Oz listed under $100K?

When the Model S first came to Australia the list price for the cheapest one brand new with no options was under $100k already at around $95k. (According to Red Book and a few old Australian reviews I've read). A good benefit of owning a base model Tesla is experiencing the least depreciation...

First Tesla in Oz listed under $100K?

I think it is the first under 100k, I've been looking for last year or so on CS. Same car for sale was posted on the Tesla Owners Club Official Facebook site. Looks a good deal.

    Loan car disappointment

Really poor, I hope they change this. So are you expected to bring it back with a full tank of premium unleaded? What a wasted opportunity for Tesla; they could lend out top spec cars to entice people to upgrade.

Replacing 5 month old Key Fob battery has improved my Tesla

Just replaced my key fob battery after only 5 months after some errors happening with Summon and occasionally not having door handle extend immediately. The battery replacement has made Summon more reliable with less error messages and the doors now open as soon as I walk up to the doors...

    Auto-park rim rash

Sorry about your wheels. I only use auto park rarely. The P on the dashboard does not appear that often on my car even in apparently good parallel parking spots. I usually spend a few minutes looking for a spot away from everyone else to protect again door dings and bumper touches!

How about a Ludocurious Lite mode for the S60?!

A Ludocurious Lite mode would be a popular download. Could be a good way for Tesla to get more money out of the new S60's or S75's. I'm sure with software tweaks they could get the 0-100 time for the 60/75 down to near 5 seconds flat. I'd pay $2000 for that. Which else 60/75 owners would?! Cheers

Anyone else had their Tesla Spotify down for two days?

Thanks Jjdsyd.. so if you login to your free Spotify account in the Tesla, does it start playing ads like on normal free accounts? New app is out for ios

My summon seems worse. I was standing inches from the side of the car and the new app has several times said "you are not in close enough proximity to the car to activate summon" or similar. Never happened before and key battery is nearly new.

Anybody bought Tesla shares in Australia recently?

Seems like a good time to buy with Model 3 on horizon and excitement building and the Trump effect. If you have, what platform do you use? The regular banks don't seem to trade American based shares. Thanks

Anybody know correct way of opening Tesla number plate covers?

Thanks, I thinking I'll put up with the curled EV sticker... Seems too much risk of breaking something! Mine don't get wet like yours though? I use a touchless car wash and it seems to not cause them to fog up at all. Cheers

Anybody know correct way of opening Tesla number plate covers?

My EV sticker is coming off in the middle of the number plate from heat or dampness I guess. I just tried to remove the cover from the bottom and pressed the tabs but with moderate force it's stuck tight and I don't want to break it, any ideas? Thanks

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

I have notice many Tesla's in Victoria have AGS as the first three letters of the rego, including mine. This are both facelift and prefacelift cars. How is that possible? The older cars would have be registered years apart. Cheers.

The AGL all you can charge $1 a day deal and the Wall connector

Blue Heaven, yes still on rated range. I prefer it, and on a road trip it is realisic. I guess looking at a bigger range is more pleasant than looking at smaller "actual" range! I'd still let a friend charge. Don't see how they could know occasional use by a friend is not you. But on plug share...

So what happens if you break down in a state without a service centre?

I'm thinking about longer road trips in my Tesla now and just wonder if breaking down in say Brisbane with a drive train problem, would the only option be trucking it to Sydney? And the cost of trucking would be ours?

    60>75 price decrease in Aus?

Hopefully every January it will come down. After all, nobody would buy an upgrade of say a 10 year old car at $10500, especially when the upgrade would be getting smaller all the time with overall battery degradation.

    60>75 price decrease in Aus?

Yes, come down to $10500 from around $14000. Hopefully it will continue to drop.

Supercharger fee announced, Australia 35 cents per kWh

I'm surprised more taxi companies haven't snapped up model S's in Australia with the free supercharging. Imagine their overheads being slashed with no fuel cost, and they could count charging time as the driver's lunch break.
