I’m in the same boat. Day one RWD order; changed to AWD in mid-July. Seems like my order is in some sort of limbo... but at this point I can see what September brings and I have a Model S to hold me over in the meantime which isn’t so bad. Maybe I’ll switch back to RWD :p

I found them (S vs. Y) to be different, but I didn't experience one as definitively better than the other. Both are excellent as OEM sound systems go. Neither compares well to spending 5K on a custom vehicle sound system. I enjoyed some songs slightly better in my S vs. the Y, and vice versa...

As I mentioned in my Test Drive Observations thread... I drove in a different Model Y AWD today... and it did not exhibit the same motor whine I described in my first test drive; the difference was very signifigant. So clearly there are some units out there that are exhibiting different behavior.

Update: I drove in a different AWD Model Y today that did not exhibit the same pronounced motor whine. It was pretty quiet inside, much preferred. Appears to be an issue with only some units.

Interesting, I heard considerable motor whine even at low RPM when test driving an AWD long range Y. Sounded as though it was coming from the rear. Quite different than my Model S experience...

Yes the tint is on purpose... many CUVs / SUVs provide this feature.

In 2016... I had an S on order, a few days after receiving my VIN for that order a sales advisor called me and offered me a similar inventory vehicle. I ended up taking them up on that offer. It was an end of quarter sales push... the delivery of my original order wouldn’t have occurred until...

Given the EPA rated range... with efficiency greater than the Model 3 despite being a larger vehicle... I’m guessing Tesla worked hard to keep the weight down.

The S with the rear seats down has 60 Cubic Feet of Storage Space. The Y has 66 Cubic Feet of Storage space. So about the same... I'm moving from an S to a Y... for FSD, Range, MCU 2, and similar cargo capacity. #DogMode
