    Supercharger - Salisbury, NB

Which makes them the better part of the brewer->moncton drive, IMO. I didn’t buy my tesla to get somewhere. I bought it to road trip, and divided highways are not the thing I road trip to see. I always take that route, even though my car requires level 2 charge before I get to moncton that...

    Supercharger - Skowhegan, ME

I assume you know this, so this post is mostly for the interest of others who have never driven this route and might be nervous based on your post. You definitely do NOT need to go slow or to Augusta to get from Magog to Brewer in the summer, unless you're driving Leaf or something. In the...

    Supercharger - Baileyville, ME

I'm as anxious as you, but you would know if it was live, because the minute it goes live, it will appear on your in car dash board. SO make sure you check the nav screen before you leave the Brewer supercharger...

    Supercharger - Woodstock, NB

Come on Ryan... You know my 75D is getting up to 110kW now. ;-) (For those who don’t know, Tesla bumped the power at existing superchargers.) But Ryan is right—the model 3 is a better deal all around than a used S 75. They charge even faster, plus are lighter so have longer range.

    Supercharger - Salisbury, NB

NS is a frustrating space to cover with superchargers because it's long and narrow, but there are few major north/south routes. This means the bulk of NS travel is along the coast, with the "waist" section of Halifax to Truro the major north/south exception. (This is all assuming you look at...

Supercharger - Vancouver (#2) - CF Pacific Centre parkade

Actually... I think you're probably right about where these chargers are, but I think you're wrong about Pacific Centre having only 1 parking garage. It seems to me there is another one on Howe Street further north, between Sephora and the Four Seasons. Again, not that that is where the...

    Supercharger - Edmundston, NB

I agree. I was thinking that ferry charging would be great for the NS-NFLD ferries too. L2 would be great on those boats, given the 7 or 16 hour sailing times...

    Supercharger - Baileyville, ME

Right! That makes sense. Sorry to be dense. Yes, I have a gf who is all on board with saving the environment and EVs generally but she still feels like it's a pain to have to stop for L2 (or even superchargers).

    Supercharger - Edmundston, NB

Driving from Halifax to Brewer, ME is a bit of a pain with only the Aulac station, but it's doable with only 2 longish stops for lunch/dinner/whatever. Since it is a 680 km / 7 hour driving time trip, it seems that plausible that many people making that trek could make such a stop. Maybe Tesla...

    Supercharger - Baileyville, ME

I am surprised by this. I thought the Model 3 had a rated range of 500 km. Aulac to Brewer is only about 476 km. If you drive the speed limit, you likely will run out of charge. But if you keep it to 100, I don't know how you would. My Model S 75D has a battery roughly the same size as your...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

A few years back the estimated cost of supercharge locations was USD$300,000. Now they build them with more stalls. I also think (personally, for reasons I can't even remember) that the real cost is/was higher, even with only 8 stalls.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I’m really just posting this so I can participate. As reported, they’re still roped off. Tesla told me a service tech will be servicing Riviere-du-Loup on Tuesday. That supports the rumored opening of Aulac on Wednesday, assuming the tech drives down from RDL when he’s done there.

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I think others have answered this question about tripping through Maine but here are my 2 cents. I've done the trip to Moncton from Toronto through Maine and back twice or 3 times before R-du-L opened. It's easily doable with only one L2 charging stop. The last time I went to Moncton I went...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

If at all possible, do not stay in R-du-L. Charge there, then push on another few hundred km, and stay somewhere overnight with a slow charger. Quality Inn Grand Falls is one option. 10039 Route 144, Grand Falls, NB, E3Y 3H5 That gets you ~177km closer and the overnight charge doesn't add to...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

The last picture you attached is the key one. The fact that the grass is down is a good sign; but the fact that the transformer is on the pad now is the crucial key that things may soon be done I think. From other sites I've watched eagerly, it seems to me that doesn't happen unless there is a...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

As a follow up to my post above, I have now seen data that suggest the Model 3 will charge "faster" (in terms of KM of range gained per minute charging, due to its lower weight) than a Model S. The Model S short range will, of course, have a smaller battery and therefore probably charge more...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Bluetooth. Elon tweeted about it May 11, 2018. As always, don't hold your breath for Elon's pronouncements to come true, but generally do expect them to come true some day.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

It's coming. The NFLD side needs to upgrade something to cars on and off the boat, and it's a volunteer thing so hard to get the millions of $ needed.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

ha. I'm desperately waiting for Elon to make good on his promise to make my cell phone my key, because I hate carrying that damn fob.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

The trip should be easily doable in the Tesla because we're not going more than a few hundred km any given day. There are tons of campgrounds around, and I just ordered adapters for the 30 amp campground service that is common at older campgrounds, plus adapters for new and old style home dryer...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I have argued differently in my last 2 posts, but I have also never driven highway distances in -16 to -28, so I will defer to your experience. But in "normal" winter cold, there is no way I would get as little as 200 km. Definitely down between 300 and 350, but... Your point about "range...
  31. 5

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I can't say what the 60 RWD would do, but I will bet money the Model 3 with short range battery will easily do 300 km in the winter. It's promised to do the same range as my Model S 75D (~400 km) in summer weather (it has a smaller battery, but it's ~1000 pounds lighter or something). There is...
  32. 5

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I disagree. What battery size do you have? My 2 year old 75D will do 400km on a full charge in the summer on the highway. If I drive 100 km/hour, it will do more. In the winter, with snow tires, in the snow, when it is cold, I have certainly seen it drop to less than 350 km. I'm not sure how...

I'm pretty sure Tesla was talking about the charger my mother put in for me at her house in Moncton. Please drop by and use it! ;-)

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Awesome! I'm definitely going to l-aux-m. Will look for icebergs. We are taking about 10 days so no one day will be a long drive, which will make the trip entirely workable in a Tesla. (The short drives are more for the sanity of the 7 year old in the car and so we can see as much of the island...

    Supercharger - Vancouver, BC

This charger appears to be the new urban charger, capped at 72kW. Older style / highway superchargers run at up to 120kW. Note that smaller battery Model S and Xs (e.g. the 75D that I have) can only take about 96kW of charge rate, so will never get the full charge rate of the highway...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

I'm stoked: I've lived in 5 provinces, visited 9 (and all 48 of the mainland US states), but never set foot on the rock. I do love a road trip and I'm extra excited to hit NFLD in the Tesla.

Challenge accepted: I reckon I'll be at 4,800 km for my "round the rock road trip" in August (+750 km ferry riding). Shall we have an odometer measuring contest?

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Power hook up from the power company is usually the delaying factor once these projects have broken ground. That step (waiting on the power utility) can and has taken weeks or even more than a month in the USA. Be prepared for the construction to be complete but for the station to sit waiting...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Intriguing. I am surprised to hear there are ~37 Teslas in NS. That's way lower than my (artificially low) estimate of GTA ownership rates (which, of course, is the only important thing--I love being right), but still surprisingly high. None of my family ever tell me they saw one on the road...

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

I have vaguely considered buying my Model 3 reservation and "selling" it to my mother in Moncton (i.e. lending it to her if she pays the monthly loan payment).
  44. 5

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Sadly, unlike rypalmer, I find it difficult to get anything useful done for work when I'm on the road, so I don't get to drive back and forth to the Maritimes nearly as often as he does. ;-)
  45. 5

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

P.S. I'm going to use every supercharger that Tesla builds on my ways in and out of the Maritimes, just in case they refer to usage stats to make future decisions. And because it still makes me giddy every time I use a new supercharger. :-)

Jesus. That would be a seismic merger, and I didn't hear any such rumour.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

I just got back from a week in Moncton, and was there a few weeks before that. (I flew both times, sadly.) After the flood of Model 3s arriving recently in Toronto (I saw 10 on the roads in a week!), and the general ubiquity of Model S and Xs in Toronto, it is... discouraging to say the least...

    Supercharger - Falls Creek, PA

Good point! I had not considered elevations. I had the same issue when I was leaving New Brunswick, Canada last summer. I totally forgot that I would run into hills about 50 km from the first Quebec supercharger and had to bail and head into a Chademo station before I got there. Stupid gravity.
