19” snow tires for model Sf or X

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 studless Winter Tire -245/45R19XL 102R Traded S for Y so these are no longer needed. I used for about 3 months each year then swapped out. Good tread depth remains - measured at 7/32 (5mm). No damage or defect with any of the tires. The full set was $1000 new. Looking...

Question for those with a Tri-Motor order

Most will fall back to the dual motor if range is Decent. Many will have the FSD in reserved configuration, but guessing most will drop it now that its 10k to keep purchase price down. Regular autopilot is most of the useful tech for long trips.

    Model Y orders halted?

Tesla web site this morning has removed Model Y "Custom Order" link. Can only "stay updated". Never mind, Tesla website incorrectly directing this US customer to Ireland site.

Is CYBRTRK a value to fleets, police, military?

The specs are overwhelming and the potential cost to operate is much lower than competition. Would a utility, police / fire department, military or other fleet find this too good to pass up? Do they really care that it's fugly?

Model S/X deliveries drop off cliff, down 56%

I wonder if Tesla has a supply contract for 18650 batteries that must sunset before they can abandon the current design generation. It's difficult to see why the flagship would be stuck with old tech. Tesla makes changes all the time so its curious why they are holding firm to the story that...

Another front suspension control arm failure

I was moving at highway speed. The front bumper, headlight, quarter panel and a long list of expensive stuff was damaged by the failure. It’s very difficult to know what (if anything) I could have hit. It was dark and raining but lots of other Cars were transmitting the same area without...

Another front suspension control arm failure

My right side failed. There was a low speed rattle on that side only that Tesla checked and said was normal. It’s all being reconstructed now but should I worry about the other side? 2.5 months without a car sucks royally.

Another front suspension control arm failure

I was driving around 50 in rain on highway after dark. A loud slam was followed by noise of tire against wheel well. Thought it was a pot hole but really don’t know. Loud slam could have been the suspension failure and/or an impact.

Another front suspension control arm failure

I had a control arm and strut failure at highway speed in 2016 S with 50k. The result of impact is a crack in the mount point for the strut with the impact of suspension failure so severe on the strut mount that the hood was pushed up. A long list of parts and labor will be well over $20k...and...

    liberymutual insurance

Liberty Mutual raised my 2016 Model S collision premium by more than 20% vs 2017. They must be paying a lot of claims for expensive body repairs to Tesla drivers. All the middle age Tesla owners need to stop playing boy racer.

    235 mile trip - S75D

Just drove an S75D 3000 miles from new England to Florida and back, with kids and luggage. Several times arrived at superchargers with <20 miles remaining after skipping a charger. Trust the nav system to be very conservative. I frequently ignored the"keep it below 60mph" warnings without an...

    Maine–Québec Electric Vehicle Corridor Initiative

I drove this exact route (Augusta SC to Quebec city) last summer in an S60D. Could not make the full route but used a Chademo at a market and restaurant in St-Georges QC to bridge the gap. A larger battery can make this trip in the summer, but there is no hope in the middle of winter. I was...

    Slipstream wheels are all left-handed

Slipstreams are not symmetrical and they all go one way. I will call this left handed because it means that on the left hand side of the car they pass through the air from narrow edge to wide edge. On the right hand side they pass from wide edge to narrow, seemingly not so slippery to the air...

    Snow Rims

Lots of discussion of snow tires. I purchased Hakkepellita H2s and have driven in all kinds of cold, snowy and icy conditions. Performance has been excellent. I have a different issue - very frequent balance issues. I suspect that this is caused by the inside of the turbine wheels gathering...

Solar Panel on Model S - time to reconsider?

How about a roof rack attachable solar panel with cable to the charge port. For trickle charge during long term parking. Should be possible as third party add on. Also shades the car. Could be pretty big if removable. Or better yet, a pop up tent garage with solar panels and a charge cable.

85kWh vs 100kWh: Does it fit?

There's a chance that they would sell a new (and bigger) battery for models S and X at some point. The roadster is precedent for this. It doesn't seem likely that they would offer any trade in value for the old battery. I have a 60d and could imagine upgrading in the future. The only hope to...

    A tesla for grandma

Hearing more and more about this on unofficial channels, podcasts and forums. Recently heard it described as copilot. Rear seat pass-through

Would love to have a pass through to the trunk from the rear seat (like Audis and VWs that I remember fondly). My family of four skiers is just barely making it work with skis perched between rear headrests. Thankful that the kids are still small. Anyone know of such a surgery to the rear seats?

    A tesla for grandma

The fact of the mater is that folks keep driving as skill steadily deteriorates, and they pose an increasing danger to other road users over the course of a decade or so. Letter to Mr. Musk from a 1-day old outdated Model S owner

Letter to Mr. Musk from a 1-day old outdated Model S owner

There will soon be complaints from early AP2 owners that they paid $8k and still have to steer the car in traffic while the old owners paid much less and have autopilot capabilities. The recent conference call is really a notification of a change that will take quite some time to fully understand.

AP1 Promises That Never Came To Be

Remember this image for AP1? AP1 by divesturner posted Oct 26, 2016 at 10:41 AM The only marginal aspect in real life is the blind spot monitoring. I truly wonder if the side-facing sonar dots are even active or perhaps mis aligned to see the body of most cars. A minor gripe among a very...

Recieved tesla s yesterday no AP2

The story of AP-2 is not finished. A timeline was proposed, but it's not clear how all will unfold. There is a good case to hold off for a while and let others be the guinea pigs. I have a '16 AP-1 car with almost 5k miles and road trips planned. I will live a full life this year with the car...
