What is your beef with Tesla?

I put a vote in for the parts process issues. My experience was documented here, but assuming a small percentage of folks will ever be in a crash where they need parts, a 10% complaint rate still seems high. I also selected communicate is horrible because getting an actual person to talk to for...

    Selling my 2018 Model S 100d.

There is a "Tesla For Sale" sub-forum under the Marketplace. That is the correct place for this.

    Sharing my car repair experience

Final Update: I am in possession of my car once again. All repairs were completed last Friday and I picked it up Saturday. It felt like getting a Tesla for the first time all over again. To recap, my accident was on 2/14 and my car was ready to be picked-up on 8/23. That is a total of 27 weeks...

    Sharing my car repair experience

Another update for you all. This mess is going to last past 6 months. Here is the latest twist. Last time we left off Tesla had sent the wrong color seat, so we just needed them to send one that is the correct color. So we get a new seat and it is the right color. Hurray! Except the seat doesn't...

Not to my knowledge, but I am not sure. After the seat gets installed my understanding is that the last step is to send it to the Tesla Service Center for them to check everything and clear it.

    Sharing my car repair experience

In my update 2 weeks ago I stated how I would probably actually have my car back 1-2 weeks later. There was literally nothing left I could think of that would cause a delay. I am sure this will be no shock to anyone to find out that I do not have my car back nor do I know when I will have it...

    Sharing my car repair experience

Five Month Update: So I didn't get my car back yet. It does seem like it is nearing the end though. The parts have been painted and they are reassembling the car now. I should have it to me in the next 1-2 weeks. Just to recap for those that don't want to read the full thread. 1 month update...

Bad Experience for car parts requiring

Yep. This all sounds right. Currently at 4 and a half months waiting for my car to be fixed. Every piece of the repair process is made difficult by Tesla, but the parts taking forever is the most frustrating.

Pros and Cons of Owning a Tesla

This con was already mentioned, but I just want to restate the ridiculously terrible timeline/cost for repairs. It is a total mess and a huge issue. I love my Tesla, but if there was ever a con that would get me to switch to a different car this is it. If you ever get in an accident, just hope...

    Sharing my car repair experience

It is at a Service King location. As far as I knew the Service King shops are the only body shops in Charlotte that will still work on a Tesla. However, the Caldwell website does still look like they do it as well. Since they are a little ways outside of the city in Indian Trail maybe I just...

    Sharing my car repair experience

Four Month Update: You know how in my last update my body shop estimated another 1-2 weeks to have my car back. Now over one month later, they are telling me it should only be another 2-3 weeks before it will be fixed. Just a complete mess. They have the parts, they are just struggling actually...

Insurance help - New York state

I can't specifically answer for NY, but your insurance company should be able to tell you with a quick call what the state requires. I have been without my car for 4 months waiting for repairs and in NC they definitely don't have to give you a comparable Tesla. I have been stuck driving a Nissan.

Looking for a parcel shelf for my S65.

There is no such thing as an S65, so you might not get any responses because people will doubt your legitimacy since you stated it is for something that doesn't exist. However, all of the model S variations should have the exact same shelf as far as I know. There is a marketplace section of...

Need Help - bought 2017 model S at auction then found out no Autopilot

If it helps, there is absolutely no reason to currently pay the extra $5k for FSD. So worst case, $7k for autopilot.

Tesla Body Shop Ongoing Terrible Experience (Dallas)

This is completely correct, but I would think you could pay more to add better coverage. You can't even rent a car for $30/day normally that isn't really small. I am currently almost 4 months into my current repair process and I am definitely thinking of trying to up that coverage on my...

    Supercharger - Charlotte, NC

I have to agree. The first spot seemed like they were trying to cover both 77 and 85 so they put one that was between them and not really convenient for either. This second one is even less convenient. I have to assume that this location would mainly have local charging in mind. I think it is...

Three Month Update: The last part my body shop needs has been shipped! The shipping tracking says it will arrive Friday afternoon. My body shop estimates another 1-2 weeks to get everything ready for me once that part arrives. I finally feel like I see the light at the end of the tunnel. At...

Trade-In Offer/Valuation on Model S with Airbag Deployment?

I don't think there is any reasonable way he is going to get a diminished value claim for half of the vehicle value.

Trade-In Offer/Valuation on Model S with Airbag Deployment?

I will be following this post as I too will need to make a diminished value claim soon for my Tesla. In the past on another non-Tesla vehicles, my insurance company actually came up with the estimate themselves and then gave me the details on how they came up with it. They gave me an opportunity...

I agree that it would be way smoother if they could just take it all apart in the beginning. I really wish my shop would have done that. Here are a couple things prevented that in the non-tesla own shop I went to based on my very limited understanding of their shop (I have never personally been...

Two and A Half Month Update: According to FedEx, the last of the parts from the original request my body shop made to Tesla will arrive this Friday (5/3). confusing, ever-changing features of EAP, AP and FSD

Sorry I can't help answer your question very well. Are you sure you don't have autopark? Maybe it is something you just haven't triggered correctly? My car has autopark, but it is probably the least helpful feature on the entire list anyways. I am going to add a question of my own about the...

I hope this means a functioning sunroof will return to the Model S

Was that ratio from back before when the only options where sun roof versus body color roof? I think the ratio might have gone down considerably once it was sun roof versus fixed all glass roof. That said, I like my sun roof and my 5 year-old loves it. :)

Autopilot Hardware 1 with Convenience Features NOT working On 2015 CPO Model S

That is definitely what it means, but man is that something that I can totally see being very confusing and misleading to folks who don't know the car iterations and options as closely as most of us on the forum do. I wish they phrased that differently.

    AP2 vs AP2.5

Definitely not yet. I believe it was part of what Elon originally used to sell what the car could do on AP1. Might be wrong on that. I believe it is widely assumed to be a completely hollow promise by now. A standard Elon over promise and under deliver. I think it is best to just assume it is...

    Tesla Fire in Shanghai

I get your point, but it is still news. Don't you want to know why this particular Tesla caught fire? You don't always have default to "protect the brand" on here. I think there is something valuable to learn from this fire after the research is done.

    Sharing my car repair experience

Two Month Update: I got tricked by hopeful news two weeks ago. They said my car might already be fixed and back in my hands by now and all that they needed was for Tesla to ship the last 2 parts. Tesla never sent those parts and they can't tell me when they might do it. So I continue to wait...

    Sharing my car repair experience

I have a positive update (at least compared to the low expectations that were set for me). I still have a couple of parts that no one knows when they will get shipped, but they are...

They can tell me parts ordered, but no other status than that since Tesla has given no response to them at all. They said some times they get parts before Tesla even acknowledges them, so just no idea when things will arrive.

One Month Update: I am just going to plan to update this thread once a month until my car is repaired. All parts have been ordered with Tesla in the past week. Tesla has not even acknowledged that they have received those part requests from my mechanic. There is no human you can actually talk to...

This definitely matches with what the mechanic has now told me. He said they had to replace a fuse to get the car to turn back on because the airbags went off. Happy to be corrected and make sure this thread has correct info. Don't know why the Tesla customer service told me what they did. Maybe...

    Sharing my car repair experience

I am fairly confident, but I admit I can only go off what I was told. Tesla customer service is who told me they did it. I talked to them a lot during the process. They called after the airbags deployed. They called after the 12v was charged causing the car to come back online. I called them to...

    Sharing my car repair experience

All the side airbags went off. They didn't cut the power until after they called me and I said I was in an accident. Had I known they were going to cut the power once it was confirmed in an accident, I would have just ignored their calls since there was no risk to the battery.

    Sharing my car repair experience

The accident happened about 20 yards from my house. We got it pushed into my driveway using the second tow truck and then we put blocks behind the wheels so it didn't roll back into the street (because it is was stuck in neutral since the 12v died while it was in tow mode). Eventually we had to...

    Sharing my car repair experience

My Tesla was in an accident on 2/14 and I thought I would just track my experience here for anyone interested. I am about to go into that dreaded timeline of seeing if my car will be prepared in 1 month or 6 months. Definitely one of the biggest issues with owning a Tesla is when it works, it...

    Lack of loaner cars?

I will just add another data point. I do think this is very service center location dependent. Both times I have needed one in Charlotte I have gotten a Tesla loaner. However, they were definitely not brand new P100Ds. I think they were 2014/2015 RWDs both times.

New solar install planned during renovation. What do I need to know?

Thanks for the responses so far. One thing that I will address is my energy usage and possible energy generation. I have no idea what it will be. The house is going to be changed by a lot. This renovation will more than doubling the sq footage of the house, adding a pool with heater, changing...

New solar install planned during renovation. What do I need to know?

I am pretty new to thinking about getting solar, but I am in the very early stages of renovating a house which includes lot of additions, new roofing, and new electrical. The house also has a back roof facing south. Seemed like the perfect time to add in solar during that construction process...

Did Tesla just kill the Model S 75D?

I will just add my thoughts which mimic a lot of others. I have never gone near the top speed in my S, so that doesn't matter to me. I rarely get below 70% charge rate, so range doesn't matter much to me. I have a 60 with a slower acceleration than the current 75D and I have never needed faster...

    Looking for advice re: accident

I can speak from experience on when my wife's (non-Tesla) car was rear-ended at a stop light. In my case, both drivers used the same insurance company (Nationwide) so maybe it would function differently in your situation. They handled the accident first and got all that repaired and treated it...

    Degradation is happening too quickly

I think that is a pretty normal amount of degradation honestly. It is 3% over a year. The good news is the degradation flattens out big time after the first year or so.
