Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Two more replacements for me. Driver side failed a couple of weeks ago and now the passenger one is out too. So that makes 6 or 7 for me. Both covered under parts warranty. Tesla tech indicated there is no new revision so I expect to be replacing them again in a year or so. Can’t believe they...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I read on here somewhere that the issue is not the light but the tube that the light is shining through; something about the tube prematurely breaking down. I mentioned this to the service guy and he seemed to indicate that was correct FWIW.

DIY: Troubleshoot "dead" horn on 2014 pre-facelift model S

My horn stopped working last week after slowing dying for a few weeks prior. The horn tone kept getting weaker and weaker. I thought it was my imagination at first but then one day last week I tried to beep someone sitting at a green light and... nothing. The horn did come back a few days later...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

They might good-will a replacement for you since you're not that far out of warranty. That's what they did for one of my replacements. Also note, all parts have (I think) a one year warranty so even if the car is out of warranty if you get a replacement part it itself has a warranty. My most...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Noticed yesterday that the DRL on the headlight they replaced in June has now "burned out." Scheduled a service appointment for next week. That's #4 for me.

Anyone have experience with Bridgestone Quiettrack tires

I put a set of these on yesterday to replace my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s and recorded a before and after (same road, same weather conditions and speed (45mph)). These recordings were made on my phone, holding my hand in roughly the same spot for both recordings, but, obviously not at all a...

    Model S EZ Pass placement

If I remember I'll take a picture, but, for now here is a more detailed explanation: MS Refresh/Removed Front Plate/E-ZPass & Sunpass I have a NYS EZ-Pass and a 2016 Model S and it works 100% of the time in and out of NY, NYC, NJ, CT, MA, etc.

    Model S EZ Pass placement

The trick is that you have to mount it upside down, i.e., so the E-Z Pass lettering is upside down. Someone on here took one apart and found that the transmitter is on the right side (when right side up).

Creak from Vent Trim -- Possible fix?

I have a similar issue but I wouldn't call it a creak, more like a vibration or rattle. I originally thought it was the fan going but then I moved the vent louvers as you did and it goes away.

    Coil suspension getting harsher?

Yeah, my tires are currently at 5/32, so, I'll be replacing them soon (going to try the new Bridgestone QuietTracks). I'll ask the service center to specifically check those components when I bring the car in for the tire change and see what they say. Fingers crossed.

    Coil suspension getting harsher?

It might be my imagination (or the fact that I'm getting older), but, I swear that my ride is getting firmer with time. So much so that I've started to cringe when I go over even the smallest imperfections on the road. I currently have 67k miles on my 2016 Model S RWD. I mentioned it to the...

Anyone have experience with Bridgestone Quiettrack tires

I'm planning on getting these in the fall. What little I've found review-wise has been positive. Plus an 80k mile warranty?!

    Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

I have these on my 19" wheels. After about 18k miles they are at 5/32 (so almost time to change them). My car is RWD, however, so your mileage may vary (literally). Didn't really notice any change in noise, but, they might be a little less energy efficient if that matters to you as they are not...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I know forums are biased towards people complaining about issues, but, it feels to me that Tesla might have a real issue on their hands with these headlights. I got into a front-end collision a couple of months ago and the replacement headlight the Tesla-certified body shop got from Tesla...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I believe I read that they are around $2k to replace as they replace the entire headlight unit. Tesla covered both of mine under warranty even though technically I'm out of warranty by mileage (not time).

My drive side DRL went a couple of months ago and was replaced a few weeks back. Today, however, I noticed that the bumper is separating from the headlight housing. Wondering if that was from the repair. =

    No power steering after summon

Similar thing happened to me today (without summon). I parked the car, started to get out and then noticed I parked crooked. So, I got back in, left the door ajar and started to correct my park job when the power steering stopped working. A few hours later I got in the car, the Dashboard...

    Tesla Wifi Sux

This also worked for me. I've been working on this problem off and on ever since I got the v8.0 update. Creating an isolated guest network finally did the trick. Maybe I will finally get the 8.1 update! -- Big hat tip to Doug Gallardar!

    MS Refresh/Removed Front Plate/E-ZPass & Sunpass

I have a 2016 Model S. I live in NY. I have an internally mounted NY EZ-Pass. It works 100% of the time. Here's how: Mount the EZ-Pass HORIZONTALLY but UPSIDE DOWN, tight against the rear view mirror housing about and inch down from the top of the glass. The reason for this is the black area...

    Cleaning Grey Next Gen seats!!

I've had my car for three months now and started noticing color transfer onto the grey (next gen) seats as well. I picked up Turtle Wax's Leather Cleaner and Conditioner yesterday and lo and behold it comes right off. I simply sprayed some on a microfiber cloth and wiped the seat and it came...

Main Screen keeps rebooting by itself?

Yep, happened to me twice on the drive to work today (v8). I had muted the audio and rolled the passenger side window down to talk to someone who was asking about the car at a traffic light. When I tried to roll the window back up it didn't respond right away and then the audio would not...

    EZ Pass Mounting- Problem Solved

Sure, here it is - mounted upside down, about an inch from the top of the windscreen and right against the mirror housing. So far this worked for me in a few different toll booths on the NYS Thruway. Upside down appears to be key as mentioned above. YMMV

Does this quarter panel look repairable?

I have a similar dent in my rear driver side door / rear quarter panel. A woman opened her door into my car as I passed by on a narrow street :( I got the estimate today from a certified Tesla shop: $6k.

This happened to me today at a Supercharger. I was trying to charge in CT and got the dreaded "Unable to charge" message. Auto High Beams

    End XX Speed Limit Signs

Here in New York (perhaps everywhere?) you'll sometimes come across speed limit signs that do not tell you what the speed is but rather what the speed limit is no longer (as I do every day on my commute). For example, you're on a 45mph road and it changes to 55mph but the sign says "end 45mph"...

    "Unable to charge"

Almost got stranded last night on the way back from a weekend vacation. Folks with next-gen seats of any colour - how are they holding up?

I took a weekend long test drive with the original leather seats a year ago and hated them. So, when I ordered my car earlier this year, I got the next generation seats without ever having sat in them. They are much better than the original seats IMHO, but, they're still not amazing. I find them...
