2024.8.7 brings UWB phone key to HW4

Received the new software update tonight. I’d been wondering why my Sept 2023 build with HW4 didn’t get the UWB phone key feature and voila, it shows up in this update. Needs the up to date phone app. It only showed me the upgrade option on the app when I toggled Bluetooth off and back on.

MSLR 2023 Winter and Hill Driving Review

Drove from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe this past ski week with the family and 2 small/medium size dogs and a bunch of cold weather gear (sleds etc). Here's a quick review of the experience. tl;dr - the car did extremely well with both hill driving to altitude (8200ft) and weather (15 degree...

Roof rack vs rear hitch rack for bicycles

For those of you who've installed bike racks of some kind on your Model S, what led you to choose what you did - either a roof rack or rear hitch mounted one ? Considering one or the other for my new 23. The factors as I understand them are: Roof + Easy to install + Rack alone has...

How to display trip/energy on front display ?

This question is specific to the current MS . My old MS with AP1 and the portrait oriented 17” used to let me configure the left or right side of the front display to instantaneous consumption trip data. I always found this useful . It was my default view. I also found the tire pressure view...

    Tightening sun visor ?

My drivers side sun visor has become a bit loose after one too many times being pulled out and twisted to block the light coming in from the window instead . When unclipped, it now droops down about an inch, and feels like something’s come loose within the assembly . The car has a solid roof...

Autopilot Review: AP1 on California Hwy 1

I have AP1 (17.26.17) on my car. Recently, we spend a night at Half Moon Bay, taking CA-92W, and then HW-1/I-280 back. On the return, I enabled Autopilot throughout the stretch of Hwy 1 from HMB to San Francisco . This is a route with a variety of features - undivided road, rough pavement in...

Odd behavior after failed software update

I had an interesting experience with the car last night after it was parked overnight in the garage. On Friday, I had charged it up to max and then left home on a long round trip with the family. We were out and back without needing any supercharger stops, though the baby forced a couple of...

AP v8.0 Review: Driving in Heavy Rain

Got home a while ago after a 2hr drive through continuous heavy rain here in the bay area. Speeds ranged from near standstill to 70ish. Visibility ranged from decent to poor (couldn't see 3-4 carlengths ahead) . I drove with AP enabled as much as it would stay on. Except for a 10 minute period...
