I've had similar happen on our Model X and then I've realized the car is still locked. Unlocking has released the charging cable. I would try to open one of the doors to ensure the car really is unlocked.

Make sure you've connected the car to wifi. It took us about a day before the update arrived after we received the car.

Yup, the doors are sturdy and require more force to close properly than some other cars or our Model X which will "suck" the doors closed after a little push.
