Holding shares in a private Tesla outside the US

I might not have asked my question well enough :) Although I don't like to pay taxes I know I have to. There is a double taxation agreement (Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen) in place between Germany and the US. Although I only know in theory how it works back from my studies, I guess it will be...

Did you transfer shares to your Schwab account? I'm asking as I want to understand if Schwab will record the buying prices of my shares from my current broker once I transfer the shares. The reason is that I only want to pay tax on my profit, not on the whole transaction amount if I sell shares...

Holding shares in a private Tesla outside the US

As far as I know there is no official declaration as an AI. Either the company or your broker will check if you fulfill all requirements for the AI status. What we still don't know is if we need to be AIs. If so it will probably be done by the broker due to the vast amount of individuals. And...

Holding shares in a private Tesla outside the US

The location seems to have a positive influence for avoigt on voting rights. But I wasn't that lucky previously as my shares have always been in the US. But I didn't go after it that much either. They indeed can only be traded in the US once they are located there. Yet, you can always move them...

How is your experience so far with Schwab? I'm considering going there as well. But I don't trade options. I'm just following a buy and hold strategy for stocks.

I just checked Interactive Brokers again and saw that European customers are taken care of from the US website. It seems they moved the customer support form the UK since I last checked. Does anyone know more?

I also thought about Interactive Brokers, cause I heard a lot of good things. But as far as I know they are located in the UK and I don't know whats going to happen after March 2019. It's too risky for me personally to move funds there without knowing if I get access to them afterwards. I looked...

Talked to Consors this evening and questioned them about the current situation. Of course they couldn't give me any specific information as no one really knows what exactly is going to happen. They basically said that they would try to make everything possible once they are informed about it by...

I'm actually with the same bank. How sure are you the bank is able to handle the situation? From my previous discussions with them around voting I learned that Tesla doesn't know I'm a shareholder and Consors isn't able to provide certificates that I actually am one. I actually don't fear that...

    Elon Musk

Not necessarily. It depends on how much he borrowed and how much value his pleadged shares have. He probably needed to pleadged more shares than he borrowed to account for market swings. That's why the figure is so high.

TSLA Market Action: 2018 Investor Roundtable

I would be happy to pay for good good journalism but haven't found good sites so far, especially when it comes to all things TSLA. I would be open for suggestions.

What other tech stock to consider?

Basically there is the option of antenna, cable or satellite to receive public or private channels (all free, private ones financed by ads). Then there is subscription service (I only know of Sky, pretty unsuccessful since it's inception about 2 decades ago). But most of the people I know only...

What other tech stock to consider?

Unfortunately not..it's a fee that every household has to pay regardless of owning a TV or not. It finances public channels with the idea to broadcast informative content. Yet, strangely the focus group is most often elderly people. I'm indeed only watching Netflix.

Frankfurt is the local stock exchange. Xetra was introduced a long time ago as computer based stock exchange and now is the leading one in Germany in terms of liquidity.

    2017 Investor Roundtable:General Discussion

If the projects haven't been completed they can't be accounted for in COGS according to US-GAAP. COGS always represent the costs associated to the revenues you show in a given period. Showing COGS in 2016 and the associated revenues in 2017 unfortunately doesn't fit that definition. If parts of...

I read that Otto should have stolen from Waymo, but I didn't remember that Tesla was mentioned. Did Tesla employees move to Otto as well and did Tesla make any accusations? Maybe I missed that.

2017 Investor Roundtable: TSLA Market Action

Thanks drinkerofkoolaid. Yet as I understand the article, if something important pops up during the self-imposed quiet period, nothing holds the company back to deal with it. There is no regulation to be quiet. They actually have the obligation to inform shareholders in a timely manner about...

I'm not sure what you mean with quiet period? The only one I know is the one shortly before an IPO. As far as I know the SEC regulation there is none before an earnings release. Or do you mean something different?

He was probably referencing to the SEC guidelines of breaking out different business lines within the PnL. Either 10% of profits or 10% of revenues must be generated to be seen as material. https://www.sec.gov/rules/final/33-7620.txt
