    New California car pool laws?

Understood. However if the HOV lane is bumper to bumper traffic (which I've seen more and more often in the SF Bay Area), there's no incentive for anyone to take actions to be eligible to use that lane.

    New California car pool laws?

Your understanding of the program is correct. Check the DMV website https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/decal It says quite clearly: 22. Q: My vehicle was eligible and issued clean air decals prior to January 1, 2017; can I apply for new decals after January 1, 2019, when my white...

    Ordered M3--Smart phone next?

Current model 3 owner here. If you tap on the Tesla T menu, the Tesla roadside assistance number is shown. However, if you don't have a phone paired to the car via Bluetooth and you try to call roadside assistance by tapping on the number, all you get is a message saying that you need to...

    App Connection down?

Re: the API, they're trying. from monitoring the network traffic from my car to Tesla, I can see that the traffic to Tesla's VPN stopped at 7:30am Pacific. It then worked again briefly around 2pm Pacific, but has not worked since.

    App Connection down?

Bluetooth is short range. Unless you're within Bluetooth's range, you need a server side solution anyway. So you have to engineer this twice, implement it twice, add new features on it twice, test it twice for every change, for the low number of times that there's an actual outage. And you...

    App Connection down?

The cars normal Security is one. If your phone gets stolen, Tesla can invalidate your API keys and passwords centrally from the server side, disabling any app access.

    Software Update 2018.14

Have been a software engineer for years. One good practice I always had was never release (or accelerate an existing release) on a Friday. Just less folks around to support it on weekends.
  8. T

Yup! Better touchscreen and browser is here!

In this case is similar to a software update, the first time you get in the car after the navigation update, new release notes appear describing the navigation update. It's not just new map data, it's a new nav system and new map data.

    Firmware Update 2018.12

It looks like some changes may have happened to TuneIn. Some podcasts which wouldn't play at all now play. Oddly, it's only some episodes which work...for example, the latest (March 29th) episode of "Stuff You Should Know" now works, where this podcast hadn't worked at all for some time...

iOS 11.2.6 intended to fix phone key issues?

My wife and I have iPhones and haven't had any issues with using the phone as a key. However tucked away in the release notes of iOS 11.2.6 (out today to fix the issues with crashing on certain chracter strings), there was this item: Sounds like could apply to the Model 3 key issues? Would...

    2017.50.13.550ee35 build, what's new?

My Model 3 received this build while at the service center overnight, since I don't have the car have no way of telling what's in it. Does anyone have an idea?
  14. T

Already on 50.11 but just got an update notification.

    50.10 had scheduled charging.

Already on 50.11 but just got an update notification.

Full version is 50.12 b707518. No obvious changes. It could be the backup camera change I suppose but it's hard for me to tell. @dhu1 Model 3's still don't even have a spot in the UI for release notes yet :-)

    2018.2 0eddd23 detected

Can someone with this version see if the "Stuff You Should Know" podcast on TuneIn plays properly? There's a long standing bug where podcasts from this publisher won't play. It's fixed on my model 3, but not on the S, and I'm hoping that this fix makes it to the S at some point.

    Metromile insurance Pulse installation question

BTW a bit of searching showed this thread where a Tesla owner said the Metromile Pulse did not work, and they had to substitute a different Metromile device that plugged into the cigarette lighter instead. My guess is that this alternate device measures mileage itself using GPS or similar...

    Metromile insurance Pulse installation question

Before getting into this there's a very high chance this device won't work, it just depends on what it's designed to do. Per federal requirements that all vehicles have an OBD-2 port, yes the Tesla does have an OBD-2 port. It's underneath the left side of the dash, near the "dead pedal" Dead...

    Michelin Stealth Wipers

BTW one other thing, if you use the Michelin Stealths on the passenger side, you'll need an extra part that doesn't come with the wiper blade. For the 28" driver side blade, it includes the top lock connector that the original poster mentions, but for the 18" passenger side, there's no top lock...

    Michelin Stealth Wipers

Yes the height difference is noticeable even when the Michelin wipers are parked. However the original wipers chattered like crazy for me in the rain while the Michelins are absolutely silent.

Main Screen keeps rebooting by itself?

Dynamically hanging zoom levels on the GPS are one of the new features in the 8.0 software. It zooms in in areas where there are more residential streets, and out when you're on a freeway (and presumably going faster)

Unable to reach Tunein after 8.0 update

TuneIn started working again for me this morning. I suspect it could be a server side issue at TuneIn or Tesla as it's working for some and not others.

Unable to reach Tunein after 8.0 update

The login you can (optionally) use for Slacker is one you create at slacker.com. It is not your My Tesla login.

Unable to reach Tunein after 8.0 update

The login screen moved to the TuneIn screen of the media player. Unfortunately, if you get the error about not being able to connect, the media player no longer shows the login options.

    Firmware 8.0

I've got 20 years experience in software development and test, and currently work on a website with north of 400 million users. We studied for a long time how to do software rollouts like this and how to do a slow rollout is a pretty standard approach in the software industry. The ideal is to...

Unable to reach Tunein after 8.0 update

Sorry folks, TuneIn is still broken for me this morning so the issue is not resolved for everyone. I'm continuing the dialog with ServiceHelpNA. slazhole: neither of the services Tesla supports (Slacker or TuneIn) require you to create an account. The services should still work without one...

Unable to reach Tunein after 8.0 update

I have a friend with 8.0 where the TuneIn tab works properly, but it doesn't work for me. I've reported the issue to support and they indicated it would be passed to engineering to review.

    Firmware 8.0

Just talked to Tesla Support on the phone. They walked through some basic debugging (touchscreen reboot) which didn't change the error connecting to TuneIn. They're forwarding the problem on to engineering. Will update here with what they come back with.
  32. T

    Firmware 8.0

To clarify I can listen to TuneIn stations I had favorited before, but the media player screen that shows TuneIn favorites, podcasts and top stations doesn't work.

    Firmware 8.0

Anyone seeing problems connecting to TuneIn radio? The Tesla media player wasn't able to connect to it for me, either on the LTE with a strong signal, or from my home wi-fi.
