Buying a used Hydrogen car? They're like $7500-$11k

Your linked DOE article touches on something interesting; despite hydrogen vehicles only holding the equivalent of 4 or 5 gallons, they are ~2.5 as efficient as a combustion vehicle so would compare to a sedan with an 10 to 12 gallon tank. But the fuel cost comparison is way worse than 2.5x more...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Not uncommon for wholesale pricing to go negative at night, at least at some of the hubs. So with negative pricing, a wholesale consumer gets paid for usage. With that said, hubs around Houston aren’t consistently negative at night, so I assume these free night plans also assume some daytime...

Tesla Announces Powerwall 3 "DC Expansion"

This is correct, each solar inverter is going to have a set of panel strings physically tied into it. So losing that inverter will reduce solar accordingly. The remaining one(s) will keep on trucking though, and charge your batteries / power your home. Same with the Powerwalls. Each...

Tesla Announces Powerwall 3 "DC Expansion"

Or the battery portion of the PW2+. The Gateway will track solar production from all your inverters and manage PW charging based on total available power (along with your time of use settings.) Power from any inverter can be used by any PW2/2+

Tesla Announces Powerwall 3 "DC Expansion"

That is correct. Each PW2 battery has its own inverter and can discharge up to its own limit. Additionally, each PW2+ has its own solar inverter and can invert the panel strings tied into it, regardless of the state of any other one. In a PW3 based system with additional DC packs, one gets...

Tesla Announces Powerwall 3 "DC Expansion"

A PW2 based system has some advantages over PW3 that can make it a compelling option for some people. In particular, parallel inverters and battery banks make it more fault tolerant with (potentially) higher output per installed kWh (compared to PW3 w/ DC expansion). PW3’s chemistry is super...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My sense is that this will be a transient issue, if it is even one. Once self driving really takes hold, a-la rapid adoption of personal computers or smart phones etc… we’ll see rapid reduction of human drivers. I have to imagine insurance industry practices will play a huge part in that.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I wonder if it could it also be just as likely that they find some new, as of yet unknown, solution that is neither? Some hybrid approach maybe?

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

This was with the previous Version 11 that had more “visibility” into what the vision system was seeing. I think the general consensus here is that the current end-to-end approach doesn’t easily allow for queries into specifics of what the model is seeing. It seems like there is a V11 object...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I installed earlier today from 11.4. Zero interventions, safety, comfort, embarrassment, or otherwise in 100% of my drives today. The difference from V11 is frankly astonishing. We’ll see if this holds up as I drive more tomorrow.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I put my whole driveway into Open Street Map and at some point it was picked up into Tesla’s database so I can do just that. But flip side was that Amazon, Fed Ex etc adjusted their delivery drop point way up on my property since they can map it (something I don’t want) and now flip out when...

Free supercharging transfer - anyone do it?

Here’s where it showed up in my App. When I did the trade in process it asked me if I wanted to apply FSD transfer etc…. It then showed it when clicking on the trade in details in app thereafter.

Free supercharging transfer - anyone do it?

If you are not trading in, or are transferring from a VIN that’s on another account, I think there’s a manual process where you have to sign an agreement and submit VINs by hand to the sales advisor.

Free supercharging transfer - anyone do it?

Are you trading in your 2015? It happens during the trade in valuation process.

Do any of the pickup locations ever offer hours not in the middle of the workday and only weekdays?

Not an option for everyone but I went old school and just walked into my delivery center and they were all in there. They were happy to help me move my delivery window out a week to accommodate spring break. Took like 60 seconds.

Free supercharging transfer - anyone do it?

I just traded my 2017 S to a 2024 and successfully transferred FSD and free supercharging (FUSC). I did the transaction under my existing Tesla username in app and everything was automatic. The app picked up that I had FSD and FUSC on my trade in and asked me if I wanted to transfer them. I...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

If the standard is someone invoking Article 4 assistance in response to an "attack", I'm assuming he (she?) is referring to Türkiye and Syria in 2012?

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

It can be a little confusing to the general public how gas pipelines work in this regard, but it's not quite as black and white as your are portraying. At the point the gas is in Ukraine, it may not be Russian from a title standpoint. Title to gas inside a pipeline can trade hands at various...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

If it was trained from actual humans driving, maybe the phantom slowing is an actual “feature” of the neural net, end-to-end? How many people out there can drive by hand at an exact speed while also paying attention to other driving tasks at the same time? Perhaps one case where heuristics has...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Yearly options expire on Jan 19th with a fairly significant inflection point at 225 creating an incentive for market makers to push below that level. I think most downward pressure right now is somewhat artificial.

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

Uh, yeah, I get that you are emotional about the subject but I can’t see how you are qualified to claim FSD doesn’t have any scenario in any context or any region where it functions well. In fact you even say in your own reply that “influencers” are able to tease out good performance in some...

What is PW's KW draw when charging from the grid? I have 2 PW's and they are charging at 2.4kw.

Mine charge above 5kW each for some reason. Kind of a problem given that I have 200A service and also have 20+kw of Tesla charging. Have to aggressively do time management on everything.

Calibrating door handles using new tool

My 2017 was late enough into the production cycle to have V3 actually. So much simpler maintenance and the calibration tool works on it, seemingly as long as it starts from zero.

Calibrating door handles using new tool

It will move by itself through an automated routine. I recently had a similar issue with my 2017. Just hitting calibrate didn't solve it and I had to manually push the handle to be all the way in and then rerun the calibration and all normal operation was restored. Initially I thought the...

Tesla will NOT allow accounts w Cybertruck reservations to change E-mail addresses

My industry had to deal with this (rate regulated, gas utility infrastructure). Specifically we didn't want to allow entities who held capacity on our pipelines to be able to resell that capacity to 3rd parties. In essence creating a competitive market with our own product. USA Feds stepped...

    New here. Can a 2016 Model 2 90D be upgraded to a P90D?

My gut says it would be way cheaper and easier to sell your 90D and roll the equity into a P90D. Using autotrader.com as a proxy, 2016 90D vehicles around Nashville seem to be asking around $25k. P90D in the same area are asking around $30k. So your price differential to "upgrade" is $5k...

Wiki Super Heavy/Starship - General Development Discussion

A tremendous amount of civil engineering would go into a final answer, I'm sure. But for the purposes of your thought exercise, I think you can assume the pressure that the Starship hull has to resist to be just the mass of the soil prism over the pipe, times Martian gravity. This study...

    Charging cable overheats

I might be misinterpreting your wording here but this wouldn’t be something to dismiss. If it’s a 14-50 outlet and the outlet temperature is indeed the culprit, this is a fault with the installation or receptacle, and is a fire risk.
