    Symptoms of 12v Battery Failing?

My X100D is a June 2018 build. Got in this morning and got some weird symptoms: - hazard flashers gong - car turning off/on (mirrors folding/unfolding) - all console warning lights on - would not go into drive i tried rebooting and no change, same symptoms. Took alternate car for an errand...

Another reason why Tesla is miles off full self driving

As a driver of a 2018 Model X for over 2 years, it’s the best and most amazing car I’ve ever driven in my 53+ years. Comfortable, quiet, amazing performance and great for the environment and everyone else. Here are my recommendations for a new owner: Download, study and learn everything about...

Right Rear Seatbelt Locked Retracted, Can’t Release - Ideas?

So took it to service and turns out it’s a simple fix, no tools req’d to do it yourself — simply release the seat back, fold flat, return to upright and voila. I actually almost tried this before taking it in but didn’t as thought it might make it worse. I’m kinda suspecting that my 6-yr old...

Right Rear Seatbelt Locked Retracted, Can’t Release - Ideas?

Anyone know of any method to release a locked seatbelt? It’s fully retracted with zero slack and I cannot get it to move at all. This is the right rear seat in a 5-seat 2018 X.

Why Owning a Tesla is SO Amazing

Here’s my final update after further reflection, feel free to borrow. Imagine your life if your car provided the following features: Your garage no longer stinks from the smells of gasoline, oil or exhaust. Your Tesla automatically provides you with a full fuel tank each morning. No need to...

Here’s my revised list fwiw - Imagine your life if your car provided the following features: Your garage no longer stinks from the smells of gasoline, oil or exhaust. Your car automatically provides you with a full fuel tank each morning. No need to ever visit a gas station again. When you...

Why Owning a Tesla is SO Amazing

While I realize that others’ experiences with their Tesla’s do not match my own trouble-free one after 18 months, when I’m asked by other people why Tesla as opposed to others, I struggle to come up with a complete list. So I set out to write down these points that I might actually print and...

    Voice Commands in 2019.40.50

YAY! I just tried nctalkinghead’s method re engaging the microphone and voila, everything works! Thanks for posting that, as I’d previously always held the button in continuously while issuing a command, like you. FYI, initially after first downloading 50.1, nothing was displayed on a command...

    310 -> 287 (7.4%) Battery Degredation (5 months, 12k miles)

There are a few YouTube videos I’ve seen that discuss this worth watching, one by Like Tesla - Severe Model 3 Battery Degradation or Something Else (her 3 was showing 260 miles at 100% after 5 months) and Bjorn Nyland’s 2-part series - Calibrating Battery in Model 3. In summary, if your...

EV vs ICE Fueling Speed Argument

One of the biggest negatives raised about owning an electric vehicle, is how long it takes to fuel vs an ICE. The next time someone raises that point, here’s something that you can throw back at them… Local Driving Scenario: People say that it only takes them maybe five minutes to refuel their...

My TACC has gone from Great to Erratic

My experience aligns with yours - braking for merging traffic that is slower and would not conflict; feeling like it’s hitched to the car in front of you in traffic and jerking you around as that car speeds up then slams on the brakes when it used to buffer, and other bad driving behavior. I’ve...

Help! Can't turn passive entry back on!

On my X - 1. Unplug charging cable. 2. Press brake pedal. 3. Enter PIN to drive. 4. Passive Entry toggle available to turn on/off. If still unavailable perhaps try a reset? Curious, does your wife even know about where this is set? Wondering if some hdw/sftw error forced it off, in which case...

Tesla's Energy Estimator - more conservative on the X?

Our Aug 2018 X 100D calculates the same as yours. I’ve done multiple 1,000+ and one 2,800 mile trip and when we leave with it saying we’ll arrive with 15%, we usually arrive with something more like 22%-27%. I wasn’t sure if every Tesla behaved like this or if I was just a really efficient...

UC Berkeley AV Social Perception Planning

Just came across this article on Techxplore.com where researchers are suggesting AV’s should use surrounding vehicles as extended sensors - much as humans do - in uncertain environments such as when the actions of adjacent vehicles suddenly brake or alter course to avoid objects outside the...

    AutoSteer Techniques?

I have mine set to Sport, so it’s not that. For me, with only 2,400~ miles, it’s too new. I don’t understand how much “torque” is needed so probably overcompensate and I’m worried I’ll miss the alert to hold the wheel and it’ll disengage when I still may believe it’s active resulting in an...

    AutoSteer Techniques?

i’ve had my Model X now since August and have yet to find a way to be comfortable with using AutoSteer (have only tried it on divided hwys). Planning 1st Trip - Questions

Here’s my update to taking my first trip in our 100D, an approx. 490 mile drive from east San Diego County to Monterey via the scenic Hwy 1 coastal highway. Planning 1st Trip - Questions

You're saying a 75 kW X can't make it from San Luis Obispo to Monterey on Hwy 1? I put SLO SC and Monterey into EV Trip Planner and it gave me 47 kW used (ABRP kept giving me No Route regardless of using a specific ending address). I'd guessed that charging to 70% at SLO would give me at least...

    Planning 1st Trip - Questions

Appreciate everyone’s input. I hadn’t seen that ABRP had waypoints nor understood that it attempts to reduce overall elapsed time, so thanks for that. Planning 1st Trip - Questions

I just started driving my Aug 2018 X 100D and am planning my first trip with my wife. Hoping some of the old-timers with Tesla X's can give their view on which trip planner to put your trust in as I'm a tad nervous. I've tried Tesla's version, and found it bases its planning with current SOC...

Why is MX Charging Rate Slower Than MS and M3?

Yes, the light finally went on when I realized the rate Tesla was listing wasn’t how many electrons were being added per hour but rather the range of each type of vehicle those electrons would provide. Your analogy is great, thanks. In the meantime, really can’t get enough of driving the X, an...

Why is MX Charging Rate Slower Than MS and M3?

Ok, got it now, thanks all. I looked further on Tesla's website and found that both the S and X do come with the same onboard charger - Per website: For new Tesla vehicles, the on-board charger capacity is matched to the the vehicle battery: Vehicle battery option On-board charger capacity...

Why is MX Charging Rate Slower Than MS and M3?

But you’re talking about USAGE of the 2 vehicles. Let’s say you took both batteries and their onboard charge controllers out of an S and X. When you plug them in to Charge the battery, if the hardware and software are the same (for charging) why wouldn’t they charge at the same rate?

Why is MX Charging Rate Slower Than MS and M3?

Does anyone know the technical reason why the Model X charging rate for all types of connectors is less than both Model S and 3 (though I realize the 3 is a different architecture)? See attached photo from Tesla’s Shop-Charging page.

    Model X 5 Seat Deliveries

Good point about lowering the suspension for best access. Prior to her fall I had shown her the Model X and she was really looking forward to riding in it (she'd loved riding in the 2011 Leaf I'd leased), and she'd been helping me save up for the X. Just hoping she'll actually be able to go for...

Model 3: What type of charge connection?

While I can't imagine the connector itself being changed, back at the end of October I was considering purchasing the HPWC but decided to ask Tesla, and here's what the response was as to whether I should proceed at that time: "Hi N, I would recommend waiting to hear more about the charging...
