That’s a good point, but I’d rather not have to wait a whole year to determine if I’m not producing the guaranteed amount. Besides, the compensation amount is less than what I’d pay from the grid, so it’s still in my interest to mitigate issues as early as possible.

Sounds like they are able to provide optimizers in some cases. I don't know if shading will be an issue, but I definitely care to monitor each panel independently. Is this something that customers are able to do?

That's true. It's likely that they set a certain rollout percentage (say, 25% of the fleet), and they hit that number. They'll probably look at metrics, then push the update to a larger percentage.

Not if those servers are hosted by Amazon. They should be able to handle the traffic. Edit: should be, but it's possible that they ran into issues. It's unlikely that this scale is large enough for them, though.

I think the only indication is that they slowed down/stopped the rollout. From what I've seen, this is usually followed by a newer (cherry-picked?) build.

Nope. (Almost?) all 75D cars will go from 5.2 to 4.2. The newer 75D cars after June already have the upgrade from the factory, so they're not affected.

If there are only 4, then the list just dropped to 3 since they're about to update mine. 155xxx Vin. There's no way in hell only 4 Teslas qualify in CA. That's a statistically insignificant figure, considering the number of Teslas in the state.
