    Autopilot vs FSD question

If they ever run a sale for $2k for EAP cars then I'll likely get it. I figure that's a fair cost to cover the new computer and the installation. I just really have no interest in the car actually driving itself on city streets.

    Autopilot vs FSD question

Thanks all. In that case I'm gonna have to pass on the $5k "upgrade". While I find autopilot very useful on the highway, I really have no interest in using it around town on city streets. I'd be a buyer at $2k max just for the newer computer as I'm sure the features I already have would benefit...

    Autopilot vs FSD question

Hi All, I have a somewhat early model 3 (in the first 10k) and I'm a bit confused about what FSD offers vs what my car currently has. From what I can tell, my car already has the following: 1) Navigate on autopilot on highway 2) Auto lane change on highway 3) Autopark 4) Summon I keep getting...

    Malfunctioning Supercharger Stalls

Perhaps with the new supercharger hardware Tesla is working on they can include a way to remotely control the light on the individual chargers. If a person calls in about a malfunctioning charger and Tesla can confirm the issue then they could just turn off the light as a heads up. The light can...

    Solar System for Sale

I didn't talk to them directly but apparently both thought the system was dangerous. People in this area are frustratingly slow to understand new technology (not that solar is even that new).

    Solar System for Sale

    System is sold. Thanks all.

    Solar System for Sale

Yes and two buyers have walked because of the solar system. Btw, price is now: $7500 for inverter, two batteries and ancillary hardware (battery combiner box, etc) Panels are now $100 each. Buy five or more and I'll toss in an optimizer for each panel bought.

    Solar System for Sale

I feel like things will change as the next generation starts buying homes in this area. At the moment it's just a tough sell. Price is now $10k for everything. Photos attached. Some panels are already unmounted and ready to go. The ones on the ground mount are in the process of being unmounted.

    Solar System for Sale

For anyone interested in panels, I'm offering each 300w panel and an optimizer for $100 each. So $2500 for 25 panels + 25 optimizes. Pickup only at this price. These are the panels: Silfab Solar 300 Watt Mono Solar Panel - Black Frame - SLA-300M

    Solar System for Sale

Selling it with the house isn't gonna fly here unfortunately. The system is roughly one year old overall. One battery, the inverter and 15 panels were installed last June. The second battery was installed this past March. The last ten panels were installed for a few weeks and then removed to...

    Solar System for Sale

Hi All, We're looking at moving and the solar system won't be applicable to the new location. Solar also isn't very popular where we're at now (central alabama). So selling the current house with the system isn't an option. Basically, I'd be selling the following: 25 x 300w Silfab panels 25 x...

Not getting paint protection film for your Model 3?

Thanks for this. That does look 100% better and at that price I won't be worried about screwing up. That's what has kept me from attempting it. I think I've found a project for this weekend.

Full Self Driving Price - $4K upgrade no longer honored?

According to my service center, it is now a $5k upgrade regardless of when you purchased your model 3. Take that with a bucket of salt though. Service centers aren't exactly on the forefront of Tesla knowledge when it comes to policy, changes, etc. What I don't get is that they're apparently...

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

If you think you can live with the limitation then I'd definitely give that a shot first. Btw, I received another PM asking about how the dual batteries are wired inside of my combiner box. I'm just going to post the info here for all. The wiring for dual LG Chem batteries is the same as the...

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

That would be it then. Mine has two 25A fuses. I wonder if the storedge portion can be upgraded. The guts of SolarEdge inverters are somewhat modular and I know you can field replace the computer in the top section. So it may be possible. Might be worth a call to SolarEdge.

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

I have the SE7600A-USS2. The USS model was designed for the 1st generation powerwalls but the newer firmware allows for the LG Chem batteries to be used. I know both the USS and USS2 model have the same computer inside. The same firmware works for both.

Need simple Windows software to edit video, add counter, speed up, etc.

This won't help at the moment but I've been switching over to the Affinity products by Serif as they have become available. Photoshop and Illustrator alternatives are available now. Next up is desktop publishing and then video editing: Affinity - Professional creative software I've used Adobe...

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

When on backup (grid down) the output is limited to 5kW per inverter with 6.6kW surge (useful when a motor turns on). So two inverters and four batteries would provide 37.2 kWh at 10kW offline (grid down) and around 14kW online. Now, the StorEdge system also doesn't do true "whole-home"...

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

9.8kWh total, 9.3 usable. They have 0.5 kWh locked out on the low end. Based on my own math I can charge the two batteries combined to 18.5 kWh. That's within .1 kWh of the specs so I have no complaints. We've ran on backup due to storm related outages probably a dozen times. If the inverter is...

    Tesla Energy/Solar City idiots

Yes, I got tired of the run around with Tesla energy and ended up going with the LG/StorEdge system. I don't regret it a bit. The system works flawlessly and is actually more efficient than a powerwall system since it's all DC until it's converted for export to the house. There are ton of other...

Poll for Model 3 owners: Vampire drain rates?

I don't drive every day but sometimes when I get in the car it will have lost a percentage point from the set charge level. My S was the same.

Not getting paint protection film for your Model 3?

I ended up not even bothering with wrapping the center console. I have the film and I might get around to it some day. However, thus far, everything is holding up just fine and it's not on my list of "crap I want to spend time on".

    Wind Noise

Yep, this can be an easy DIY project. It's just not worth the hassle for me at the price RPM Tesla is charging.

I ordered one of the RPM Tesla kits earlier today and it has already shipped. I'll report back after I get it and try it out.

    Engineering Car?

I'd be freaking thrilled if AP2/2.5 could just read speed limit signs like AP1. We took a trip this past weekend and the speed limit displayed in the car was wrong at least 50% of the time if not more.

    Jack Stand Comparison

Sorry, I'm on my phone. I thought I included the entire conversation. Either way, had I seen your comments above, I would not have purchased your product. I hope you can tone it down a bit and your business does well in the future.

    Jack Stand Comparison

I wasn't going to mention it but after the remarks above I will. The Murphy's Law person sent me a PM after I posted earlier in this thread. Screenshots attached. I really don't care for a vendor pestering people after station their opinions of a product. Perhaps a moderator should be notified?

    Jack Stand Comparison

I have both of these and they both work great. However, I prefer the round design of the reverse logic one. Just a personal preference.

HPWC - Save money and call an independant installer!

A lot of times even electricians won't bother with a permit on smaller jobs. Personally, unless I'm doing a large project, I'll "self-permit" and by that I mean if anyone ever asks I'll just be like "dunno, it was like that when I bought the place". Honestly, as long as work you do yourself is...

2018.10.5 Charge Port Needs to Unlock When Phone Detected

I've discoved that I can quickly press the truck release button and it will unlock the car and the charge port but it won't open the trunk. I've been using this trick since I installed 10.5. A double press or a long press *will* open the trunk.

New Model 3 vs Used Model S

Presume whatever you want. I think this is one of those things that can be a bit subjective. That said, even with the air suspension all the way up in the S, my fat ass can still make it into and out of the 3 easier. Same here but biscuits are evil little bastards.
  38. D

New Model 3 vs Used Model S

I'm around 230 and I find the 3 to be very comfortable. It's easier to get in and out of than my S was.

    HPWC Disconnect Switch Code Requirement

A lot of jurisdictions will allow 600v ethernet in the same conduit as electrical wiring. It's done often with solar installations. Just a note for anyone who comes across this thread in the future.

Getting seatbelt warning with child seat

You can install a seat-belt secured child seat in the center. However, there are only LATCH points for the two outer seats. That said, while I imagine 3 seats might be doable in a pinch, I think I'd opt for the model S if I needed 3 seats installed for daily use. I'd also invest in Tylenol. I...

    Slacker

Same here. I was told they are not handing out the slacker account details with the 3. Nope. They set it up before you get the car. The only thing you'd need a slacker account for is if, like me, you want to set up some custom stations.
  42. D

    Wind Noise

I have "higher than expected" wind noise when driving my 3 above ~40mph and I know *exactly* where it's coming from. It's the black triangle trim piece above the side mirrors. Both the driver and passenger sides are about the same on my car. Pictures of the drivers side below. Please excuse the...

Model 3 vs. Prius Touring 4

    Model S refresh "MI03"

Who knows. I guess it depends on if they consider the new MCU a major revision. If MI03 does indicate a larger change then I imagine the new MCU would still be used.

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Nah. It looks like that code first appeared near the start of the month (03/2018 - for future reference). Makes too much sense for it to be the code for MCU2. Apparently the code MI02 was used as well for a short period. Interestingly, I can only find X VINs built with that code. Ex: TeslaScout...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

After digging around, I'm gonna call it. MI03 is the code for the new MCU.
