MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

I haven't tried that but will do in the next few days, I'll let you know. I only tried some power tools from the garage and they worked with no problems. 90A is more than enough for anything I'd need as it would only be for emergency power outages to keep the fridge or freezer going. I did...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

For anyone else's info, these connectors did indeed stop the car throwing errors. My inverter is now happily connected to the terminals under the rear seat. Thanks again n2mb_racing.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Would an xt90as connector to the portable inverter be enough to stop the error messages in the vehicle? I assumed that I'd need to build a precharge circuit.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Can you recommend an inverter that's plug and play? Ideally I don't want to have to add on relays and resistors to slow the inverter from pulling too much power at the start.

    Front upper control arm squeak

Did you pierce the rubber boot or were you able to insert the needle below the rubber? I've got to do mine in a few days so wanted to know what I should be doing. Did the fix last a while?

    High mileage check-in

130,000 km (~81,000 miles) after almost exactly 3 years here in Canada. Battery is still fine, and reports a drop of just 5km (~3miles) from new. Issues Heater rarely works unless the car has been allowed to deep sleep, even then it's intermittent. I get the "climate keeper error" message...

2021 Model 3 and Model Y Heating issue

There are other 2018's with the same issue on Reddit. Most people are still under warranty so are having the sensors replaced for free, I'm well out of warranty at >120,000km though so no luck for me.

2021 Model 3 and Model Y Heating issue

I think there's definitely an issue, my 2018 3 heater works fine after it's gone into a deep sleep eg overnight, but if I drive then put it into park it stops working and gives the climate keeper error.
  9. K

    High mileage Model 3's

No replacement parts yet, the heater works as described and the charge door I can open manually. I won't be surprised if both are fixed by software updates, if the problems persist over a few updates then I'll consider the heater fix but the charge door is very low priority.

Charge Port Door Not Working - Not missing the chip

Same here, 2018 LR RWD. Stopped working when I installed 2020.48.35.5 a few days ago. It won't open or close from the app, touchscreen, lightly pressing it, or using my home charger button, but I've had that happen in the past too, and it started working again after the next update. I emailed...

    High mileage Model 3's

120,000km (~75k miles). Left upper control arm replaced under warranty. Windshield replaced due to stone chip in first week of ownership. Just starting to have issues now, heater stopped working ($1100 CAD to replace) and charger door won't open or close with the app/screen ($500 to replace)...

    High mileage Model 3's

I'm at 120,000km (75k miles) on a 2018 LR RWD. Just starting to have issues now, heater stopped working ($1100 CAD to replace) and charger door won't open or close with the app/screen ($500 to replace). Both are software issues as far as I'm concerned heater works after car has gone into a deep...

2021 Model 3 and Model Y Heating issue

I just got the exact same issue in a 2018 LR RWD, Tesla quoting me $1100 to repair but i'm not convinced it's not a software issue as the heater works fine if I pre-heat after the car has gone to deep sleep over night or parked for a few hours, but I get the error if I put the car into park.

Model 3 FSD Upgrade Price is $4,000CAD

Are you saying you got a free FSD upgrade because you bought EAP in summer 2018? If that's the case care to share the secret as i'm the exact same boat.

    Supercharger - Enfield, NS

Even though the car screen reported it as down, it wasn't. I went there to charge and it worked just fine.

Tesla cancels lifetime supercharging for used inventory

Tesla can still remove the free supercharging as it's registered to the original owner not the car, they just haven't done so up till now. I'll be very surprised if that isn't rectified within 6-12 months and everyone who bought used privately loses the lifetime supercharging they thought they...

    What's your rated range again?

My nearly year old LR RWD is at 43,000 km's and a 100% charge reports to be ~520km range.

Any suggestions on how to pronounce "Quispamsis"? Is it Key-spam-sis or kiss-pam-sis?

Autopilot upgrade after delivery, how much are they now?

Still $7900 here. I bought EAP at time of purchase (June 2018), and was told I could add FSD later for a lower fixed price, that price has long since disappeared despite not being told it was a limited time offer. I won't even entertain buying it >$4000 CAD.
  22. K

    Supercharger - Salisbury, NB

Any guesses on the ETA for these? I've got a soccer tournament in Moncton in June and these would be ideal.

EAP to FSD cost in canada

For existing EAP owners, it's now gone up to $7900 CAD, which is absurd. What happened to the price Tesla told me I could buy it for later? It was never indicated it was a limited time offer.

AP/FSD price revert back to old price

For some reason my page says it's changed to $6600 CAD to go from EAP to FSD now, I was sure it was ~$4000 CAD before the "sale" price. I still don't see the point in upgrading, FSD if it ever arrives will be years away in Canada. A "FSD" product that means I still have to actively watch for...

    Sentry Mode: Another American-First Feature?

    Overheat protection issues

Is there some secret handshake to turn on the overheat protection? Mine is on in the software, but right now the car is at 46C while plugged in and I thought it kicked in at 40C.

    Winter rims

I'm starting to think about the coming winter season, and wondered if I need special rims due to the vehicle weight or whether any old set of steel rims will do the job?

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

I think an informal CHAdeMO loaning program would be a good idea, maybe a $50 fee to be a member (free if you have a CHAdeMO that you're willing to loan out) with 100% of membership funds going to the purchase of a new adapter every 10-12 new members.
  34. K

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Thats a kind offer, are you listed on Plugshare? Having a quasi SC network with faster than L2 chargers until the real thing comes along would be nice.
  35. K

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

All this talk of CHAdeMO's is fine but I'll bet that soon the Model 3 will be the largest vehicle in Tesla's fleet in Atlantic Canada, and as yet the CHAdeMO adapter still doesn't work with it. Even when it does work with the 3, I doubt many people will be rushing to buy a $600 adapter that...

    Supercharger - Aulac, NB

Was that as fast as it got? I've not used a supercharger yet in my 3, and was curious how many km's/hr it would add compared to L2 and CHAdeMO.

I got it last weekend, I asked the folks at Montreal to push it to my car and they were happy to.

What do you think a reasonable EV incentive program would look like?

From someone in a province (NS) that gives absolutely benefit to having an EV, any incentive would be nice. Even if it just meant I can cross the bridge to Dartmouth for free it would be something! In all seriousness though it has to be a national incentive, I tweeted with the Environment...

Battery Management System (BMS) Bootloader Update

I enquired to Montreal about any issues with me not getting the update as i'm so far from a SC, here is their reply. I read that as it can be done OTA. "I spoke with our Service team about the BMS update. They will push an update notification to your car today so that you may program it for...

Battery Management System (BMS) Bootloader Update

I'm interested in this too. I'm 1200km's from my nearest SC in Montreal and as this update need to be done at the SC (as it bricks the car if interrupted apparently) I'll not be getting it installed any time in the foreseeable future. I've read that VIN's up to 43k are getting the update, so...

    Atlantic Canada Superchargers

I'm a 3 owner in NS, had it a little over a month. Obviously there are no superchargers here yet, and the L3 chargers are all CHAdeMO that 3's can't use (yet). Even when the 3 can use CHAdeMO I'm unlikely to use it as I can't justify $600 for an adapter that I might use 1-2 times a year. I'm...

Model 3 Canada - Confirmed Orders Only thread

    Chip in windshield

Update for my windshield is that Apple Auto Glass say it'll take 2-3 weeks to get the glass as they need to get set up with Tesla as an authorized installer on the corporate side.
  49. K

    Chip in windshield

My deductible is $250 (given the amount of glass on this car, i've since lowered it to $100), not sure on the list price of the glass if not going through insurance.

    Chip in windshield

Lucky you, I got a chip that cracked the following day after <1500km in my 3, still waiting for Apple Auto Glass to call me about how they intend on getting the glass from Tesla. Tesla's answer was for me to drive a 2600km round trip to Montreal for the repair!
