Car location on Map is off by few meters

Tesla estimate of its position without GPS is pretty poor. Driving in 6 km tunnel with my previous 2008 ICE car (Škoda==Volkswagen) was off by about 30 meters. Tesla is off by about 100 meters. Sure its gets in sync once one gets out of the tunnel but still. It is probably unrelated to the OP...

    Anyone use OEM console holder?

The phone/battery is getting hot during wireless charging which is not good for the (phone) battery. I admit I was not investigating exact numbers to support that claim.

New nitrogen filled tires riding very rough

Could you suggest how? I believe when one resets the TPMS with low pressure it will still give the warning. I am abroad from my car so I will be able to test it only in a few months. One can set a type of tires so I can experiment whether some of the types do not have the minimum limit lower but...

    Charge On Solar Australia

I use my script to charge Tesla only from excessive solar energy (but I prioritize Tesla before solar battery). It is using GoodWe inverter. It will need some little adjustment to charge above 50% as currently I live longterm 10000km away from my parket Tesla so I haven't yet tried driving on...

New nitrogen filled tires riding very rough

Unfortunately between 35-36 PSI Tesla starts annoying with a warning. While 32 PSI or even some people say down to 20 PSI is still a valid pressure. The lower the pressure the better braking which is all what matters. I do not mind some percents of lower range as long as my car has not bumped...

Vendor Wish you could reduce Supercharging usage? Looking for testers

The installation cost can vary a lot. For me Wall Charger was CZK 14900 == USD 635 and its installation cost was almost zero installing it myself, just buying some 32A wires for maybe USD 10. I already had there prepared a circuit breaker box for other 3-phase outlets for garden (such as for a...

Vendor Wish you could reduce Supercharging usage? Looking for testers

The www.dockcharged.com "Particulars" table is not fair. It should also state: 15kWh DockCharged DockCharged Tesla Wall Connector maximum charge overnight (8 hours) 75 miles 405 miles purchase cost USD 15000 or how much - we do not know USD 475 lifetime 15 years unlimited Or...

Is an Ac to Dc converter safe to use in a Tesla?

I use such converter for charging my Lenovo laptop and wife's HP laptop and normally it works. But few times we did trip Tesla's cigarette lighter breaker. One just needs to wait some long time - around 15 minutes before the Tesla cigarette lighter outlet starts working again. Be careful when...

Installing a level 3 charger at home

So IIUC level 3 (L3) 3-phase chargers probably use 3x phase-to-phase voltage 480V (and not 3x phase-to-ground 277V). So connecting 1-phase wire 3 times will not work as there is 0V phase-to-phase difference. I am solving that as when I live in the Philippines (like now) there is only 1-phase...

Installing a level 3 charger at home

OK, so USA is really different from Europe. USA has separate distribution+voltage for 3-phase (3x480V) vs. 1-phase/"2-phase" (wired as either 2x120V or 1x240V) distribution. While in Europe the same distribution/voltage can be wired as 3-phase (3x400V) or 1-phase (1x230V). IIUC USA does not use...

Installing a level 3 charger at home

Are you sure you cannot connect the same single phase to all the 3 inputs? Normally 3 phase is used so that you need less amperes but if you already have "unlimited" amperes wire. Still it will be only 240V x 3 (phase-against-ground) and not 400V x 3 (phase-against-phase). BTW I expect your 480V...

Odd supercharger routing and -10% arrival on recent trip.

That "Reroute to save" I had to increase to 30 minutes (I hope that is enough). Otherwise it sends you to woods around to avoid a slight traffic jam that was some time ago on the freeway you are driving.

U.S. or european Tesla for Philippines charging?

There is no Tesla branch in Philippines. But from the map it looks to me the standard will be Type 2 + CCS2 - although some chargers are Type 1 (most of them). Some are Type 2. Difficult to say, Philippines chooses U.S. vs. European standards pretty randomly. Another problem is Philippines...

    Anyone from the Philippines?

Tesla does not have any dealerships. What does "official reseller" mean? Their website even has completely wrong Tesla cars specifications, Tesla could rather sue them.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

I stated Germany in my post. During roadtrips across Europe it is fun. Tesla has many more years and more vehicles for battery data than any other EV manufacturer.
  19. J

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Another issue is its top speed (127 mph=205 km/h - higher is only for Germany) and charging speed (175kW). Its battery is unproven yet, we will see its degradation in 10 years. TBH I do not see any its advantage. I was guessing it could be at least cheaper but neither that (USD 61499?).

Keep battery full or as is for random car use

Not sure, my last ICE car had 13 years and 190000 miles. That just says >=70%. I do not want to have 29% lower range. Tesla company does not care whether you have 70% or 99% SoH after 8 years. I live 50% of time in a different country with Tesla parked and unused for 6 months (this time even...

Keep battery full or as is for random car use

OK so that is also not clear. Some other data shows 50% is the best - such as: https://research.chalmers.se/publication/535926/file/535926_Fulltext.pdf#page=49 mentioned in post: charge everyday or once in 3 days

Keep battery full or as is for random car use

For the battery health it is indisputable 50% is better than 51%..-100%. The question is whether to keep it under 50% - either unplugged or plugged with manually stopped charging. Data clearly shows the lower the better - such as 0-10%: Hearing super conflicting advice about battery charging...

Newbie questions for a Model 3

Sentry mode turns off at 20%. If the car discharged down to 38 miles that means 100% SoC (State of Charge) of the car is 190 miles. Slightly used SR+ has 238 miles, that would be 80% remaining battery capacity after 3 years? That is improbable. Therefore the loss of charge was due to many other...

Heat pump was introduced rather already in late 2020. My M3P from 2021 manufactured IIRC January/February and first buyer bought it in May already has a heat pump. Anyway always get a LR, more battery is always convenient for everything and the price difference is usually not so big.

Sure my (stevieb9's) code needs the token. But you have my code. So you run my code on your own computer and you keep your token on your computer. I do not even know whether you run my code. You can (and you should) audit my (and primarily stevieb9's) code there is no backdoor nor call-home.

That way you are giving access to your vehicle to another company. I would never do that. Some skills are needed, yes. Time not, the software is already done. Normal opensource code, easier than to be connecting multiple web services hoping they all work together this time.

    Buying a 2017 Model S 75 - Newbie, need advice!

The question is whether you want to pay for FSD/EAP. I bought M3P with EAP and I regret it. The auto-parking in 95% of cases does not work and in 5% of cases it is dangerous anyway (it can easily hit a curb according to internet reports). Staying in a lane is useful but that is now always...

    Can sentry mode record continuously?

GitHub - cimryan/teslausb: Steps and scripts for turning a Raspberry Pi into a useful USB drive for a Tesla - it should be able to record continuously as long as it fits the USB. But I haven't tried it myself.
  33. J

Why does sentry mode keep turning itself on?

Switch to playing stored videos. It is at least no longer writing to the flashdrive. Besides that I find safer to format the drive with ext4 filesystem (Linux), it is journalling filesystem so any interruption is correctly recovered when plugging it back (to either Tesla or PC). I sure also...

    Best to charge to 60%?

I am now for half a year in a different country. I left the car at SoC 50% (sure connected in my garage to Tesla Connector) as that is the lowest valid SoC officially supported by Tesla. I understand I can stop the charging to get to lower SoC than 50% but maybe there is some other battery...

    Best to charge to 60%?

I do feel my M3P at 60% SoC is significantly weaker than at 90% SoC and it is even measured here: Tesla Performance Model 3 Dyno Testing At Various SOC What I would like to know is whether M3LR and M3P power differs at SoC 50%. It does obviously differ at 100% SoC as this chart shows:

    Heat issues while driving only

I have just returned from a 2.5 hours ride with 10'C outside and there is definitely some firmware regression. In non-AUTO mode 27.5'C is still very cold and HI is too hot. When is it time to trade in Dual Motor?

You can't have your cake and eat it. When you check the data many users charge regularly only to 50% (or a similar low SoC). When you filter the data and show the chart by 50% vs. 90% charging you can see the higher charging does have a negative impact on the battery health. Although only a...

    Heat issues while driving only

I have the same problem, warm in the garage when I enter the car but then still cold air for a long time, it gets fixed after 5-10 minutes (guessing) so I use HI that time (not sure if it helps). It may be some firmware update as it was not doing it last few weeks.

Model 3 Performance (High Mileage Users)

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." - Tesla has already made it. That funny slow battery crap with no range is now eating their lunch each day and they cry as they finally realize there is no other way forward than to also switch to EV. It took...

I do not remember it all but I read somewhere on TMC it is recommended to lift up a car for >1 month parking. Model 3 Performance (High Mileage Users)

So buy Performance Tesla car, sell the 20" wheels+tires (when they are still new) and buy 18" wheels+tires (wheels need to be compatible with Performance Tesla). And you have the best of both, win-win. I am definitely fine with buying cheaper 18" tires and having Performance Tesla car.
