Oh wow. That is bad. If that was still like that (and I have no reason to believe it'd be fixed already), that would make a huge difference to anything that hit that. Again, wow.
To be 100% sure I wasn't going to interfere with the airbag. I taped them up and out of the way to be doubly sure. Plus, why not learn?
The only place I tucked the wire in was along the FWD.
From my understanding, the net is not training right in your car, but instead data is sent back to the mothership and then combined with the data from all other cars and the net is trained. Then the newly trained net is given to all cars in an update. That is what is meant by fleet learning...
I *know* I've seen someone who removed their seat backs and posted pictures as well as a brief description of how to do it. Anyone know where that thread is lurking? I cannot find it anywhere :-/
I just did this. The inner channel is clipped in. Just pull it out. The back is taped. Pull of the tape. Now you will have the best 40 minutes to an hour of your life trying to fit the BV wires into that bitch. And your fingers will hurt afterward from trying to pry the sides so you can hold it...
I had always wondered why they didn't have an on/off button like other cars, but assumed it was because the cruise is adaptive, and therefore 'safer' since it will avoid running into cars in front of you. But it could definitely freak a person out when it happens unexpectedly, and in this case...
I got it off. Just needed to use a stronger one of my trim tools. And there's a clip way back that's a bit of a pain, but ... success! The rest of the a-pillar trim is affixed with three bolts above the door and then clips down below. Just undo those, pop it out, unclip the speakers and done.
Unfortunately, there is no such cover. There are two speaker grilles, but as I mentioned, there are two pieces of trim, the one that runs down the a-pillar itself, and another that overlaps it that runs along the top of the door. It's the part in the back near the magnet for the sun visor that I...
Trying to figure out how the A-pillar trim comes off. The top part that runs above the door seems to be what you'd want to pop off first, but the part towards the B-pillar seems to not want to be removed. So I'm perplexed. Anyone know?
Speaking of the B-pillar, anyone know how to remove that...
All of this reboot, wifi, etc. stuff is, I think, pure voodoo, and a red herring. It's either your time or it isn't. The more you futz with stuff, the more you're going to think 'oh, that did it'. But it didn't. :-)
Anyone know what the approximate size of the update is? My Google Wifi setup tells me how much data is being sent/received by each device, and maybe I'll be able to tell when I get it. Sometimes, the app notification doesn't seem to work.
Yes, I agree. Though I do wonder if there was an issue which caused it to continue running for so long. If the windows are open, and the car is locked, the AC should shut down, afaic.
So yesterday I backed my car out of the garage and noticed a puddle of something where the front of the car would have been. It felt slippery, which made me think of coolant. But I don't think it was blue or green (hard to tell on my floor). Later, I got in the car and noticed the AC was no...
While I don't doubt that, OTOH, every one of those other cars gets a lot more advertising than a Tesla. I'm frankly amazed Tesla is doing as well as they are given they do zero advertising. Heck, some people still don't even know what a Tesla is, or are still scared of going electric.
After paying more attention, I have to say the ride is not quite as smooth as I originally indicated. It's still pretty good, especially at slower speeds. I think high-speed compression is not it's strong suit. That said, I'm still very satisfied with the ride.
FWIW, I remember my Porsches I had had a small piece of clear film behind the doors where the fenders flared out, presumably to defend against sand/rocks hitting that part of the car, which was pretty exposed.
This thread should have been a poll! Maybe four choices:
au naturel
ceramic coating
wrap (partial or full)
wrap w/ceramic coating (the full monty, or as I like to call it: I've run out of money)
It would have been glorious.
It's going to be about 1600. But they do EVERYTHING, including the wheels (inside and out), calipers, and the black plastic parts and glass as well. That black plastic can fade really quickly before you know it.
"Never" as I used it was a past tense fact. Hardly preconceived!
I'm getting my car coated with Opticoat Pro Plus right now. That's as far as I'll take it. Wraps are too pricey. Never wrapped a car in my life. Don't plan to start now.
Looks like we're going to start getting AEB rolling out by end of week...
Tesla will release ‘Automatic Emergency Braking’ feature on cars with Autopilot 2.0 hardware this week
I'm just saying that if you're just cruising along, it's pretty much the same. But if you do accelerate, it's way quieter. That's what I said above re: downshifting, etc.. I think that's what you're saying too?
