    Stupid lane width logic

When I purchased my 1916 Model X the lane keeping was as you all want. No swerving to the right for an on ramp. By popular demand for central lane keeping in wide lanes such as carpool lanes in Los Angeles, the software was changed to the present behavior and so it has been ever since.

    Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance

Yes, it takes a while to get used to the features and trust them. Since you are so new to Tesla I would turn most of the features off and try them a few at a time. By the way I drive the I 5 all the time and love letting the car steer as close to the wall as possible on autopilot. I am not...

    Car wash or hand wash?

I live in a farming area that has muddy roads after the rain( from tractors and pickups from the fields) and use a subscription car wash plan. Flat rate per month for unlimited washes, with brushes. I use Optimum no rinse car wash when I am motivated to do it by hand. You only need 2 gal of...

Actual range and battery degradation question

Plan on losing 10 miles of range per 1000 feet of elevation change. So going to 6000 feet from sea level loses 60 miles. You will need 5 to 10% cushion on arrival to allow for unexpected delays or detours. You lose about 10% due to cabin heating and speeding. Generally the on board trip...

    2017.42 a88c8d5

For the first time I noticed a slowing in a turn while on TACC that wasn't due to following a car. For the first time I saw about 50% ( of usual) regen going downhill from 5000 ft in the Sierras with the battery at 255 mi (X 90 D AP2). The many previous trips down Hwy 4 from 5000 ft with a full...

    2017.42 a88c8d5

I drove 200 miles yesterday (AP2) both I 5 south of Stockton and Pacheco Pass. It struggled to stay in the lane on sharper freeway curves at 75mph but no diving for the off ramp. Lane change very smooth but would not cut in close to the front of a Semi. It delays the lane change until more...

    Tesla First Car

Much as I love our Volt and X I vote for a plain old ice car. I'm also a Stanford grad and driving and parking on the campus is a challenge. Charging only adds to the difficulty for a super busy student. Give him a chance the first quarter without a car and see how it works out.
