After what time has passed would you consider an FSD class action lawsuit?

It’s ridiculous! It’s the kind of troll job that would take a pretty profound sense of wrong to actually make enough people actually care about so many years later. Especially dorks who paid $100k for a car. Or maybe even twice!

After what time has passed would you consider an FSD class action lawsuit?

I've only been here for 6 years since Tesla released a video *demonstrating* that "self-driving" cars were right around the corner. I totally understood that it was probably a bit of a stretch and maybe it wasn't 100% but I did think that it was at least probably close to reality. Obviously I'm...

Service Bulletin out on Hard Acceleration "Shudder"

I just picked my car up after having half shafts replaced. Shutter had gotten progressively worse to where it happened even during moderate acceleration. Anyhow, very similar problem to this post. Pulled out of the parking lot, stopped at a stop sign, and as soon as I pressed the accelerator to...

    Phantom Braking

We've had two Outbacks over nearly six years, both with their TACC package. We have never had this happen on either of them. That is not an exaggeration. My S will do it at least once a day over 30ish miles of commuting. Sometimes because it thinks there's a stoplight on the highway. Sometimes...

    10.9 FSD

10.9 still tries to stop for the train control light on the highway. That pretty much makes me have to disable FSD, but I did try a bit around my neighborhood first and experienced no improvement.
  7. _jal_

    10.8 FSD

It’s sort of picky, but a wrinkle is that traffic light controls are enabled in highway AP anytime FSD is enabled. I can’t use FSD on an area highway because it has train tracks down the middle with train control lights. The traffic control code will stop in the interstate if the lights are red...

    10.6.1

It only happens when I'm in the right hand lane where the 30 MPH sign is closely aligned with the US-45 sign. If I'm in the left lane there is enough parallax between the two that I think the NN identifies the signs separately. The part of it that makes me go "hmmm" is that this is the same...

    10.6.1

I see no changes with 10.6.1. I leave FSD mostly off these days because I find it just too dangerous for day to day driving. But, I have developed a few test points where I see if it has improved. - still comes to a complete stop on the highway when it sees train control lights that are red -...

    10.6.1

I also went from 10.5 to 10.6.1. It’s not in the release notes, but this release includes a 19.7% increase in permanence of longitudinal UVD detection and in right turn - when turning right - scenarios, an uprevving of Chinese (simplified) language detection of potential scenario network visibility.

Phantom Braking - Has it gotten better?

My wife and I were on a country road with no one around us and it came to a complete stop for no reason. I let it go to see how far it would slow down bc there was no one else on the road. Then after a cpl seconds it drove on. No idea what it thinks it saw. That’s an extreme occurrence, but I...

    Tesla FSD Beta Release 10.5 2021.36.8.8 - 10.5.1?

    Dumb Safety score

I’m not an actuary, but there is zero chance this “score” has any but the weakest correlation with hitting things and/or hurting people or damaging property. And it’s not sour grapes - I have FSD. The math is total BS. For instance, the “aggressive braking” coefficient basically, like a lot of...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

More fun with interstate traffic control. Here it sees traffic signals on the overpass and tells me it’s preparing to stop for traffic control in 500 feet. Pre-FSD I turned off traffic control response bc it would stop for train control signals on the highway, but with FSD enabled traffic...

    FSD Steering Characteristics Discussion

I think what @EVNow is saying is the car’s position is the starting point - period. The path planner is supposed to calculate the path to the “endpoint” whatever / wherever that is (which is sort of the problem). So the path can’t possibly exclude the current position of the car otherwise it’s...

    FSD Steering Characteristics Discussion

It's a two lane (each way) road. Addison Street in Chicago. I'm stopped at a light behind a car that is letting a car in from a driveway from the strip mall. We're actually not moving at all. For some reason - I have no idea why - it is trying to move me through a crossover and past the Civic...

But it's so wrong. So. Wrong. Path planner. Planners of paths. Path planning daemon of whatever domain. It's just wrong. Here I'm stopped. This is the predicted path  Or, you can look at the world and realize the path is ... a straight line forward.

    FSD Steering Characteristics Discussion

Yes. It's a bug at best; design fail at worst. Tesla wrote that we're responsible for a 5,000# machine doing potentially the worst possible thing at the worst possible time. I don't give a crap why it does what it does - if it can spin the wheel 90 degrees in a second and it can accelerate to 60...

FSD Beta : Steering Wheel Jerking

I just tried to engage FSD for one right turn on the way home. It jerked the wheel so hard to the left that it instantly disengaged bc I was holding the wheel. It was an easy 10 mph right turn with no tricks. I have no idea where it was going turning left. That was the 0.25 sec of FSD engagement...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

There's a train line down the middle of I-90 in Chicago. There are train traffic control lights by the track and visible from the interstate. 80 MPH limit unacceptable

I must have missed this. So two over the limit violations and you're out? Is there a timeframe? I got my first this past weekend when I tried to give it a little gas to finish passing someone with a tailgater on me.

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

For all the new stuff in FSD, it still interprets the US 45 highway sign as a speed limit sign. I first saw this last year, and it's unchanged. My video isn't very good, but you see the 30 MPH speed limit sign, then the US 45 sign. FSD bumps the speed up to 50 in a 30 Vroom!
  25. _jal_

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Yes, I noticed this speed limit behavior over the weekend. Whenever I went through a town and it slowed down from a 55 to a 35 (or whatever) it would set the max to 40 but then just cruise along at 60. Eventually I just turned it off to slow down because I didn't think it would ever slow down on...

There are lots of "Do not block intersection - $500 fine" signs on my way from the house to the highway. With my terrible 95 score I'm just kind of borrowing worries here, but does anyone know if it blocks intersections on busy streets in stop and go traffic?

Honestly, how softly could I have played that for you? “I don't have anywhere near the time or interest in personally going through a lawsuit, but it's always surprised me that a consumer fraud claim hasn't been brought - at least in Illinois.” This is an honest musing. I don't have anywhere near the time or interest in personally going through a lawsuit, but it's always surprised me that a consumer fraud claim hasn't been brought - at least in Illinois. Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

I’d imagine most of the reactions to phantom braking, etc are amplified by the fact they’re surprises. They’re startling, so they will seem more dangerous than they really are. Not that they’re not dangerous in and of themselves, but I’d imagine a lot of “slammed on brakes” are actually “applied...
