I'm looking at building a house in the next year or so and wanted to put a solar roof on it. Ideally, with a battery backup. Given the big thread about Tesla's handling of their solar roof reservations, I'm reticent to using Tesla at this point. I can't even use Tesla's site to get a quote since...
Our beloved 2008 Acura is dying, our son drives it at this point. I'm thinking of replacing it with a cheap used LEAF. The budget is cheap, don't really want to spend more than what I can dump the Acura at CarMax for. I can find used LEAF's for 5-7k fairly regularly, early year (2011/2012) SL...
This post is mostly for anyone that might end up searching the same problem. Since I got my car, it's been complaining it needs a software update. Walked through reboots and such with Tesla, no luck. Had a service guy out to realign a couple fit and finish issues and install Homelink. While he...
Owning a Model S, I have a referral link. My wife tried to use it to order a Model Y, but the page it sends you to only has options to order the S, X, and 3 (and solar). There's no option to put in a reservation for a Y as a referral.
I thought referrals worked for the Y? Has something changed?
I deposited forever ago, back at the announcement. We decided not to get the 3 and wait for the Y (already have an S) and just let the $1000 deposit ride. However, on a sales call the fellow said the deposit wouldn't transfer to the Y and I should refund it.
So I did, went online, filled in my...
I have a 2012 P85. I've had steady, but slow degradation, perfect acceptable. A daily charge (used to be called 90%, but whatever the line is at the top of the daily range is what I use), would get me about 225-230 in rated range at this point. Suddenly, in the last week, it dropped to 195-200...
I ripped a couple albums to Flac with WinAmp and a flac library. For most albums it's fine, but it's mangled a couple album names and ended up scattering the albums files across 4 different album names. A nuisance when I want to play that album...
I've tried editing the flac file metadata...
4 Tesla Grey 21" rims (refurbished) with Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Great for someone looking to upgrade to 21" or that wants to run 21s all year round, but wants a 2nd set so they can run summer/winter tires.
The rims have been refurbished and look just about brand new. The tires have...
(Mods: wasn't sure what thread this should go into so move it if you can think of one.)
This is just a curiosity question, there's no problem to be solved, but I was curious if anyone could explain it.
I've got a 2 year old Model S now with 30,000 miles on it. The 90% charge nets me about...
I've got grey 21" rims, with rim rash, that I'm thinking of selling once my current set of tires wear out and just going purely with 19s. My question is what to sell them for?
I was debating getting the rim rash repaired first, but you rarely make back what you spend on that sort of thing, so...
There's an user I've tried to add to my ignore list a few times over the last couple years and keep failing, forgetting it won't let you ignore an admin.
Can that be changed? Obviously they're an admin, but I'm not sure why that should have any impact on which posts I'd like to see.
I'm going to PAX this year over Labor day weekend and I'll need to charge while I'm there. Hell, I might want to use the local parking in the area regardless as the hotel charges $40/night to park the car!
I thought I'd see if anyone has experience with chargers and/or parking in that area...
I'm getting close to due to for a new set of tires. I know at least a few folks here have gotten the Hankooks and I'm looking for feedback on if it was worth it.
How is the ride? Traction? Road noise?
The Tesla Service Center cautioned against non-Tesla approved tires as they've had a...
I sent Tesla an email because I was only getting 90kwh out of the new Springfield, OR 120kwh chargers. I was told today that my car is older and doesn't support 120kwh. I'm rather steamed about that. Nowhere that I can find has Tesla ever said newer cars had different support than older cars. I...
I'll be travelling from Portland, OR to Sonoma, CA in August. In looking at plugshare and other sites, I think I can find charge points, but it's not always clear what sort of plug they have. Should I spend the $150 and get the other adapters in Tesla's store? The 10-30, 14-30, and 6-50?
Seems like it must be something obvious, but is there no way to cycle through preset channels from the driver's controls? Cars typically have a +/- on the channel from the steering wheel, but I can't figure out a way to do that from the steering wheel. The left side buttons scan...
Not sure where to put this, so Off Topic it is.
I literally have not sold a used car since before the internet. Well, not a useful internet as it was 1993. Googling "selling a used car" gives me an overload of options: craig's list, ebay motors, all sorts of ways to get a quote online to sell...
Tesla’s Musk Sidesteps 2012 Model S Goal, Sees 20,000 in 2013 - Businessweek
20% is a new low for the margin and completely bailed on the 5k for 2012.
Not sure where to put this, so I'll call it part of "Delivery".
I want to cover my garage floor in that cool, sort of slightly rubbery(?) stuff Tesla's got all over their manufacturing floor. I haven't been there, but I've been on other covered surfaces so that's where the question about...
No idea where else to put this...
I'm P2840. I'm interested in finding a base model owner in the greater Portland, OR area (hell, even Eugene would be feasible) that would like to swap their 19" tires + $2000 for my 21" tires. Either silver or performance gray, your choice if we can set this...
For anyone interested in the Karma, I see one parked outside the Lotus dealership on Canyon Rd in west Portland (around 90th is the cross street) almost every morning when I drive to work.
Not according to Elon. Elon has said in interviews before that they didn't need the DOE loan, but that having it meant they could accelerate other developments.
I hunted and didn't find a thread that seemed quite right.
I've heard a couple comments about where the Perf mostly beats the standard 85kwh as being in the 0-30 range. Has anyone really heard about where the Perf beats the standard? For example, how do the both behave in the "passing" band...
Apparently Tesla's VP of communications, Ricardo Reyes, has taken a job at Square.
Square Hires Tesla Executive Amid Effort to Double Staff - Bloomberg
In browsing my credit union's loans, they had a "Green Vehicles" loan rate. It's just a .25% APR drop, but hell, might as well. The link points off to a federal program at SmartWay | US Environmental Protection Agency. Sadly, Tesla isn't on the list of vehicles (Green Vehicle Guide | US EPA). I...
That's been blown way out of proportion, let's take a deep breath. I also think it's crazy to believe in God, yet one of my very best friends is devoutly religious and we manage to work around those sorts of things. Such differences don't have to be composed of bitter bile.
Slight off topic, but related to performance. Do electric cars need to "warm up" like ICEs? If I get in the car in the morning and floor it down the first street, am I going to see the type of less than great performance I get out of an ICE in that situation?
