    BlackVue installer in Denver area

After 2 years without having a dash cam, I have decided that it's time for one. My Model X is a hw 2.0 version, so no Tesla version is forthcoming. I have settled on a Blackvue dual camera system, but don't have the time to perform the installation myself right now. Are there any recommended...

    Model X and V3 Supercharger

All Model X vehicles will be able to "use" the V3 superchargers. But, not all will get any charging speed boost. The charging speed (kW) is determined by the car and only newer battery packs (like the 100kWh packs) will get the higher speed charging. 90D and P90D will probably never see any...

    Early failure of rear tires

Do you drive with the suspension set to low or very low? Either of these settings will eventually wear the inner portion of the tire. Very low much sooner.

Surround vehicle display limited v2.0 90D

I am having the same vehicle surround display error. Just got off the phone with support. One of the cameras is having problems. I already have an appointment on the 18th, so adding this to that appointment. Guess this is proof that the other cameras were not being used prior to this update.

Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer hauling bikes

@Zippy_EV: I have been searching for the same information as you and have had little if any luck getting a straight answer on this. The trailer seems like it would be a great fit if it works on the highway. But I have not found anybody, yet, who actually uses one to give an answer. If you get...

    Model X: Average Wh/mile Tracker

I have had my X now for about 1.5 years. Have just over 33k miles on it. The average through 2 summers and a winter (winter tires installed for 6 months) is: 325Wh per mile. The mileage is a mix of highway up to 77 mph and town at 40-45 mph. My work commute is about 40 miles (round-trip)...

    battery drains

What model? P100D or 100D or 75D? There are several factors that impact energy usage: 1) Your driving style (same with ICE) 2) Weather (water/snow on the road will cause higher energy usage (same with ICE) 3) Climate control settings. Cooler in summer and warmer in winter will cause higher...

    Updated autopilot sucks!

I have never received a nag when driving with one hand on the wheel. But, of course I hold the wheel slightly off-center (at about the 5:00) position and let the weight of my arm put the appropriate torque on the wheel. Seems to work fine for me. I learned to do this over a year ago and it...

Third row seats will not go up

The rear seats have had some (but not many) failures in the latch mechanism. I had to have mine replaced last year for the same problem. Only on seat was stuck, but there was no way to move it. The problem was probably fixable, but would have meant removing the back cover on the seat. The...

    Model X Audio

Nope, the USB connection will not use the phone audio directly. The USB connection needs to "see" a disc drive for the audio to work, and you need to have the files in the correct format. The phone audio uses bluetooth no matter what.

90D Vacation from 190 to 40 in 7 days unplugged parked . Normal?

vv132: The AC turns off when you lock the car except if you manually set it to remain active (need to do this each time you leave the car or it defaults to off). It will turn back on when you turn on the car unless you had it off when you locked it. This doesn't mean it was running the entire...

Tesla Black Box Data Collection - Hands on Wheel

I have been driving using EAP quite a bit over the past year. I have found it very easy to place one hand on the wheel (right or left) at a comfortable position that keeps EAP happy. You don't need a light touch, just use a position that puts less torque on the wheel. Something like 4-5...

    Model X 100D not 100kWh battery

Electroman: "Used" is the total energy into the system including charging loss. "Added" is the actual energy added to the battery. This chart most likely is for a DC charger, not AC (Charged from 2% to 99% in only 2 hours). DC charging is more efficient as there is no conversion in the...

    Falcon Door destroys paint

There is a fix from Tesla for this. New pinch strip and softer rubber bumper. They were replaced on mine last week when I took it in for other service. In fact, the service person noticed the paint damage and pointed out that there is a fix. They are going to get the paint repaired and then...

    Tesla only?

We have a Model X and a Model 3 so are all electric most of the time. I would be foolish to think all transportation needs can be met with any currently available electric vehicle, but I figure I can rent an ICE vehicle when I need one. All other needs are met with the Teslas. Why, therefore...

Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

We have an early 2017 X 90D with 27K miles. This is mostly charged at home to 90% with only a few charges to 100% for trips. My 90% is 228 miles. The rated range, when new, was 257 miles. 90% of that is just over 231 miles. We have only seen a 1.3% drop over the past year and 27K miles...

    Enhanced AP, Worth it?

AP and EAP are hold-overs from the comparison between the original Autopilot with the Mobileye HW and SW. When Tesla added the additional cameras to eventually support FSD, they started referring to the autopilot as EAP (Enhanced Autopilot) because it was supposed to have even more advanced...

How many of you are electric cars only?

We have a Model X and have ordered our Model 3 (should be here in March). In addition, we have a 7KW solar system that provides enough electricity that we currently run a surplus (including the daily charging of our X) with net-metering. Once the 3 arrives, we will get rid of our VW Tiguan...

Tesla Offers “Gen 2” Mobile Connector for $300

Kind of a bummer that the S and X get this lower power mobile connector. The original one is 40A. This new one is only 32A. It means longer charging times for the S and X now. Or, we have to install a HPC.

    Windshield

Where I live, you expect rock chips and sand blasting within a couple months of driving. Especially in the spring when the winds pick up and the roads are still covered with sand/gravel from the winter. The X has not been any worse than my previous vehicles: Dodge Caravan, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep...

    Climate button colour.

I guess I never thought of it that way, might be a good idea but it doesn't matter to me as I don't really look at it much at all. I always think of it as climate control is on if blue and off if gray. When on, it uses the temperature setting to either heat or cool the car based on the current...

My experience with Tesla's new Mobile Service (documented with pictures)

I had a screw through my right rear tire when I picked up my X. The tire was damaged when they drive it off the truck into the lot. They repaired the tire and ordered a new one for me. I got a call when the new tire arrived and they replaced the repaired one with a new one. Just what I...

    Model 3 Preperation

    1) Is there a garage wall charger recommended or that you prefer? Installing a NEMA 14-50 connector is all you need (you need a 50A circuit for this). The car will most likely come with a charging cable (UMC) with a NEMA 14-50 plug as an adapter. This is perfectly sufficient for daily...

Etiquette Question: When is a Super Charger not a Super Charger?

It all boils down to common courtesy and treating others as you would like to be treated. The accepted behavior is to move the vehicle after charging is complete (either as determined by the trip planner or your own estimate). If everybody decides that they are the exception to this accepted...

    Model X: Average Wh/mile Tracker

I have about 8K total miles on my X 90D with 20" wheels. I have been tracking the efficiency for the past about 2500 miles. Here is what I am getting since I started the trip odometer: 2527 miles -> 312 WH/mi This is a pretty reasonable indication of my average driving which is about 2/3...

    AP Issues

Dr Doom, you should take the car in to a service center. I have never seen this behavior with my X. It tracks just about perfectly in the center of the lane almost all the time. Fast, tight curves are the only time I get a drift to one side of the lane. I have 17.17.17 installed now, but...

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

My daughter's house is almost 1500 ft lower altitude than our house. The efficiency on the way there is very good. The return trip burns more energy since I have to climb that 1500 ft instead.

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

I made a 150 mile out-and-back trip yesterday from my home to my daughters house. The overall average for the entire trip was 291wh/mile. I used the TACC for most of the trip. The speeds ranged from 75mph on the interstate, 55mph on other highways and 50mph on some back-roads. I also kept to...

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

Not lying. That's what I get on my daily commute. Down-hill to work, up-hill home. About a 800 ft altitude change. I got 200wh/mile on the way in this morning. Of course, I can make it really bad if I drive hard. I'm just letting you know that the X is not always as bad as folks would make...

    Am Radio?

I saw the fact that AM wasn't in the receiver when I ordered my X. It never bothered me because I haven't listened to AM radio since I was in high school 45 years ago.

Is Model X's efficiency really this bad?

X 90D with 20" wheels. My commute to/from work is about 15 miles each way. Downhill about 800ft to work and uphill the same amount on the return. I regularly average just about 300WH per mile on that commute. Mostly highway at 75mph and some slower (40mph) for the last couple miles.

Air suspension doesn't feel like air?

I'm used to driving a VW Tiguan SEL with the sport suspension. The X air suspension seems to be tuned about the same. As with the Tiguan, it's a bit harsh at slow speed on rough roads but is quite nice at highway speeds. I have the 20" standard factory wheels and keep the tires at about...

    AP2 AutoSteer swerviness...??

Latest FW release seems to have improved this significantly. I just drove in to work and had no wandering through sweeping turns on the highway this time.

    Range

Tire pressure matters but increasing the tire pressure reduces the contact patch on the pavement. It is a trade-off between less rolling resistance, more comfort and better handling. As far as the speed sweet spot goes...it's all about time on the highway (speed) vs the amount of energy used...

Creased seats in Model X after 2 weeks?

essmd: If you are going to cover them, why bother with leather at all? Any cover will look like the old folk's covers on the living room furniture. Just use the seats and let them wear out, then re-upholster and enjoy for another several years.
  44. C

Air suspension doesn't feel like air?

Air suspension is not necessarily softer that steel springs. What it provides is adjustable height for varying road conditions and better efficiency/performance at higher speeds.

    AP2 / 8.1 : "Cruise Not Available"-AP intermittently not working in 17.11.{3,10} versions

Hmm, my headlights work in auto mode as expected. They are off when it is light outside and come on as it gets darker. What doesn't work yet are the adaptive headlights (steerable and cornering).

Will Model 3 battery pack be able to rapidly exchanged?

I can't see a reason for Tesla to change how the battery pack is installed. Even if there are no current plans to perform the rapid battery pack exchange (due to some very good reasons), Tesla would still need the ability to change battery packs if one fails in the field. The system they have...

What height are you riding in the MX

Others report that running at low on the highway didn't seem to have much impact on the wear of the tires on the 20" wheels. The very low setting does seem to cause more tire wear. I have mine set to standard height and auto-lower to low at speeds above 60 mph. We'll see how the tires do.

Lane Departure Warning - Doesn't do anything

    AP2 / 8.1 : "Cruise Not Available"-AP intermittently not working in 17.11.{3,10} versions

My X was delivered on 3/23/17. I have had no problems at all with the auto-pilot at over 75 mph in this latest release. Even highway curves have not posed any problems.
