There doesn't appear to be another Workman's Travel Center in Clarksville *but* there is one in Ozark, which is an interesting concept. Tesla could consolidate the planned Clarksville and Ft. Smith locations into this single stop. Distance is 225 from Ozark to OKC charger and keeps the spot...
Looking forward to the drive back from Dallas to Hot Springs tomorrow. With the range, I'm looking at a 20 min stop in Texarkana. That really feels like it's getting into comparable territory with ICE vehicles for convenience.
Quick update for interested Arkansans on my Model 3 progress. Looks like I'll take delivery around Mother's Day weekend. That puts total timeline at around 9 weeks from order to receipt. Lost a week in the timeline because my Sales Advisor "didn't get my reply" with some of the next step...
Midnight silver metallic. I liked the combo with the darker aero wheels. Plus the aeros account for about 10% of the mileage and, well, it's Arkansas so every mile matters. I saw the red with the silver turbines at the D.C. showroom while at a conference, and it almost changed my mind.
p.s...
No word on my end, though I'm in week five. Been assured on the phone that VIN should be assigned "any day now." Got my loan quote when I placed by order, and now I'm concerned it will expire before delivery. Really would have though your son's would have gone out in the end-of-quarter...
Well, folks, with North Dakota now having two chargers in the permit stage on supercharge.info, it looks like Arkansas is about to get outclassed. It does leave me hopeful, though, that there might be a permit or two out there in the Natural State.
Would be happy to find a time to share with fellow Arkansans once my Model 3 is in hand--hopefully next month. We live in Hot Springs, but make frequent trips to Little Rock. It's a shame that I won't likely get it before the Oaklawn season is over. We could have a "Horse Power Meets EV...
I finally configured my Model 3 this week after sitting on the invite for over two weeks. As excited as I am about this next step, I remain incredibly frustrated by the lack of investment in both finishing off the Interstate 40 corridor and building out in Arkansas beyond the one SC in Little...
Memphis to Little Rock isn't hard. The challenge is Little Rock to Oklahoma City, which is impossible without destination or other Level 2 chargers at this point.
Well stated, Evan. I'm still confounded that Tesla has failed to put the one or two additional SCs along I-40 in Arkansas and Oklahoma to close off that corridor. It seems odd compared to the intentional strategy they've employed this year to finish out I-10 across the southwest. I agree that...
I'm astounded that zero progress on closing out Memphis to Oklahoma City appears to have happened post-Little Rock. Really thought Ft. Smith or Clarksville would be shortly thereafter. With Wyoming almost complete and lots of stops added this year between west Texas and Arizona, our I-40...
I've really wanted to try this drive with my Model X 75D, but don't think it's workable without an hour of charge or more at the Super 8. The real question would be the impact on the hills on I-49. If you were willing to cozy up to a semi and go 65mph along I-40, I'd think that you'd save enough...
The Memphis location has been okay for going from Little Rock to the East, but your point makes a great case for the planned chargers in Blytheville and Forrest City in Arkansas. The Forrest City should allow you to bypass Memphis on the way to Jackson, TN. With all the work being done in...
A quick post of charging today to return to the conversation from a few weeks ago about the orientation of the pedestals and cable strain. No issue charging and there was plenty of clearance and room to back up further.
Stopped by earlier today to check for progress (none, by the way). Backed into the spot. Really don't expect there to be a problem. Plenty of extra clearance between the curb and signage. Feels like much ado...
I did Hot Springs, AR to Memphis, TN recently, which is roughly the same as Memphis to Jackson, MS. Kept my speed at 65 and drafted behind a semi, but the 75D Model X had about 30 miles to spare.
Here's a piece from the Little Rock public radio station about the SC.
Amongst Criticism Over Lack of Availability, Tesla Opens Supercharger Station In Arkansas
Will try to stop by this afternoon on the way back from Little Rock to Hot Springs.
Stopped by the site this afternoon to check on progress. Got a few photos, though did get chided by mall security. Worth it, since there seems to be some questions about the pedestals .
Stopped by this afternoon as well. Was surprised by how minimally invasive the build appeared compared to pics from other sites.
Stopped by the David's Burgers before getting back on the road. The young man at the window was excited by my Model X. He said it was the first he's ever seen and...
I love the idea of an Arkansas event when it's open. Would have to think folks like KARK/FOX16, Arkansas Business, Talk Business, and others would be interested.
SB272 passed the House on Monday with unanimous consent. It is awaiting the Governor's signature. I've reached out to a couple of friends who are lobbyists to see if they have any background on the origin of the legislation.
The new law facilitates proprietary EV chargers like ChargePoint, EVGo, and others. With Tesla's shift to charging for S/X owners after the initial allotment, it would benefit them as well. The current law is the reason the ChargePoint installations in Little Rock (Clinton Center, UAMS...
I just wish Tesla was transparent as to why they haven't moved forward with a SC in LR (or Arkansas in general). If it's a matter of there being just over 300 EVs in the state, I can get that. If it's a legal hurdle, I get that as well. At this point, it just seems odds to leave that hole in...
There's generally more traffic on 70. Highway department just began the expansion project on Hwy 70. It's mostly clearing trees now, but I imagine it will be a nightmare once the real work is underway. The variety of stoplights and slowdowns on 270 isn't optimal for Autopilot, but you spend more...
I've been driving our Model X 75D between Hot Springs and Little Rock for the past several weeks. Either route via Highway 70 or 270 to I-30 and then north to Little Rock runs right at 300 W/mi. Starting with 90% charge when leaving Hot Springs, I still have plenty of battery when getting home...
Arkansas roads agency looks at fee levy for electric, hybrid vehicles
From today's Democrat-Gazette, the increased fee would make up for fuel taxes the state doesn't collect on those vehicles because, well, they don't use fuel:
"A lot of that is a policy issue and a fairness issue that we...
My read of the map for 2017 had me thinking the stop was going to Caruthersville, MO. This would be a good connector for I-55 and the I-155 spur into northwest Tennessee and western Kentucky on the way to Kuttawa.
The Texarkana charger going live was what pushed my wife and I into making a purchase before the end of the year. Made the trek from Arlington, TX back to Hot Springs, AR with no trouble.
