    Replacement for Model S/X?

Dang Model S has fallen hard if Cybertruck has a better interior :D I don't think a Model 3 is a small Model S. I think the Model S is now a bigger Model 3. No bueno.
  3. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Rivians look okay. Not really Model S competitor though. Also likely 2-5 years away from production.
  4. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

The cheapening of the interiors is the number 1 reason I haven't bought a Tesla, particularly a Model s. Haptic buttons and touchscreen everything is a no-go for me. I liked the Mercedes switchgear just fine. I have many many complaints but that's the dealbreaker for me. Not going to press a...

Awesome. I want to be the first customer for the service center. Need some work done.

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Then add in $25k for a battery replacement out of warranty :P

Class action for Model S drive unit failure?

I've had one drive unit failure and I think they replaced another one as a preventative measure at one point as well. Tesla techs have told be they're common fail points and 2-3 years or 20-30k miles per replacement is not unusual. It does seem strange how unreliable the batteries and drive...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I'm totally fine with exclusivity. Just free market and social value stuff. If you are loaded with cash you can always by used. Best way to get the exclusive stuff is to build a relationship over the years. Buy some Cayenne's and 911's then trade in for the GT3. I'm curious to see what they...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I don't mind Porsche's a la carte system. It feels a bit bait and switch to see base MSRP then realize it'll probably be 50% more when you're done with options but that's exactly what they are, options. If you just add 50% to the MSRP in your head before starting a Porsche build you'll be...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

New Taycan refresh looks great. They're too small for me though. Very sporty and excellent for smaller drivers though. Pricy and no tax cuts though.
  12. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Now it's like cheap unknown origin haptic buttons and touchscreens. :( Bring back the Mercedes interior!
  13. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

My Model S feels more premium than the new ones, largely because of the steering wheel and levers. I think they're mostly Mercedes parts, which is totally cool with me.
  14. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

That's why I don't like seeing them go downmarket with the S and X refreshes. It should be a premium product and not just a bigger Model 3.
  15. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Honda briefly removed the physical volume knob and got railed in the media for it. They added it back in within a year or two. Tesla seems to be taking the we know what's best for you approach and consumers aren't buying it. I also like mechanical watches so I'm probably in the minority there...
  16. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

More better faster! I'm interested in a new Model S/Model X type vehicle but Tesla is focusing 100% on Cybertruck, Roadster, Model 2 and likely Model Y refresh for the next 10 years and it's just a bummer. No interesting products on the horizon for their OG customers.
  17. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

If I were Tesla I'd offer 4 vehicles and have all new versions every 6-10 years. A small crossover, a midsize crossover, a 3 row SUV, and a traditional pickup truck thing. And every once and a while have a limited run ultra high performance sports halo car thing. Their currently lineup feels old...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I only follow USA auto choices, sorry international folks. Not interested in marketshare discussions. I'm just discussing consumer info and trends. My mind is leaning towards American for the tax cuts, or potentially very reliable foreign brands like Porsche and Lexus. I'm still waiting for...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Crossovers are just convenient, comfortable, easy to get in and out of, hatchback makes for easy cargo hauling, higher ground clearance means less chance for damage. I've already ripped the bumper off my Model S on a normal sized parking curb. I'm too old for that slammed life and having to...
  20. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I don't see a lot of the Model S refresh changes as positives. I see many of them as cost cutting. The yoke, haptic buttons instead of real buttons, touchscreen gear change instead of stalks, the landscape screen. I see all of these as cost cutting negatives that make the product worse. For me...

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Key word there is, "new" Camry. Tesla isn't making new stuff. It's just hoping people continue to buy the old stuff, which are doing in fewer numbers. Automakers generally need a new version every 6-10 years. Model S is 12-13 years old now.
  22. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I feel the opposite way you do on all points. The company seems to be in chaos with Elon saying he wants more control over pushing the company towards AI as a priority and sales/stock values going down even with new products and refreshes. I haven't seen much interest in the Cybertruck, Model...
  23. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Anyone else get vibes that Tesla/Elon has lost interest in cars and is focusing everything on autonomous/AI tech to ride that stock hype wave? The vehicles are feeling very long in the tooth and no ETA for interesting new things. I'm in the Cybertruck is vaporware camp. Maybe they will shock...
  24. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

That Audi looks great. If they nail the landing that could be at the top of my list. I keep hoping they will expand the EV tax credit.
  25. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I've got about 3 years left on my battery warranty and so that's the timeline I'm giving myself to find a new car. I really like mine, when it works, but it's unreliable and the service experience is a nightmare. I just want Tesla to do what every other automaker has always done and make a new...
  26. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Looks good to me. Give it a 1 inch lift from factory on some 20 inch forged rims! make an extended wheelbase version as a Model X
  27. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

The new Panamera looks great. It's not radically different just a ground up redo and better in every way except for no wagon now. Tesla just needs to make a new Model S and X. Similar style, just ground up redo with all the new tech available. I'd even suggest they don't try to make a track pack...
  28. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I feel like Tesla build quality hasn't been getting a lot better either. And their service centers/customer service, repair wait times and costs have been insanely horrible. They are still the value king for price per range/horsepower but I'm getting to the point where I don't care about...
  29. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

Yea, Tesla is going more cheap, minimalism, automated, disposable. The recent Mercedes EQXX is lightweight and getting 600 mile range in prototype. It's not a pipe dream. The Model S is old. Lithium ion packs are pretty old at this point. It's not outlandish to expect better.
  30. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I just want like 1 inch higher ground clearance, easier ingress/egress, about 500 lbs lighter, 200 miles more range, no yolk, bring back stalks, greatly improve build quality reliability and repair costs. The design is fine with me and doesn't need to be changed. Just needs a re-engineer ground...
  31. T

    Replacement for Model S/X?

I feel like it's obvious that these models need an all new ground up rebuild. It seems like a smart idea to maybe combine the two and create a new mid/large size crossover without any special features like falcon wing doors. Just a really well designed and engineered simple $80kish crossover. A...

    Tallahassee Service Center

Hopefully someone can keep this thread updated with construction progress. Is it possible someone from Tesla that might have some info on when it should be open and who could be contacted to schedule a service and tour of the new building? I don't live nearby so I can't easily check regularly.

I actually drove by it today as well. I was amazed how much they cleared. Entire lot is about 10 feet dug out. They're really building a custom setup. I can't wait!

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Mobile tech came and repaired the car yesterday. They don't make the fuse box my Model S uses so they had to salvage one from a scrap car. Even then they only got part of the fusebox so the tech had to create a new fuse box from 2 units Frankenstein style in my garage. Car is running again and...

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

I only paid for 1 tow and never again. Make tesla pay for the rest. AAA won't cover long distance towing. This is 3.5-4 hour towing. So the latest is service center overtightened/damaged my fuse box and broke the 12v battery and fuse box and other hardware. So it needs replacing but they...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Technician found a loose battery cable and crossthreaded nut on the fuse box. SC likely overtightened the nut and destroyed the fuse box, ruining the 12v battery. Just another flub up from the SC it seems. They also scratched up my rear bumper, as well as other scratches all over the car, and...

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

I denied their $500 estimate to replace the battery without inspecting the car. We'll see what happens tomorrow when they're supposed to show up.

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

I doubt 2 completely different 12v batteries would be faulty within a 2 year period. Too coincidental. Calling out Tesla on this one. Something is wrong on their end clearly. Especially considering they replaced the entire HV battery and 12v battery and car bricked the next day and is now...

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

My car doesn't sit for long periods of time. I drive only a little bit everyday and slow charge at home every 2 weeks or so to 80-90%. I've babied the car. I assume when Tesla SC installs a battery it's a "Tesla" part. I've never heard of any mechanic shop having no warranty on the work they...

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

They've replaced the 12v battery 2 times in the past 2 years. I'm not sure why it keeps failing and why they can't seem to fix it. It's a very expensive repair. And when it fails it bricks the car and leaves me stranded or worse. What a silly and major failure on Tesla's part. Has anyone had...
  42. T

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

12v battery was replaced by Tesla at SC. I don't know exactly what they put in but I assume it's OEM. Then again, Tesla does some random crazy stuff at service centers. They once replaced my entire dash to a different styled one without telling me. They also broke my parking sensors and badly...

Are replacement 12v batteries covered by any warranty?

Long story short my car started having voltage errors out of the blue about a year ago. Car has been gently driven, carefully charged, rarely supercharged over the years. Paid a fortune to tow it 200 miles to Tesla service center. They charged me $15k+ for a new battery after not figuring out...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Welp car has voltage error and won't go into gear again. Looks like it's bricked for the foreseeable future. Tesla doesn't want to look at it. Says I should tow it 250 miles and they can take a look at it again(2 failed battery repairs and $15k+ in the hole already). Warranty doesn't seem to...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

I drove by the site where they're supposed to build the service center. I'm now creeping around anxiously waiting for construction to begin. Trying to figure out who the store manager will be so I can contact them and be the first customer. Anxious to get my car repaired after years of things...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

It's looking like they are going to actually build a service center here. Then they should be able to fix all my issues for free. I am getting my hopes up but I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping construction is started and completed ASAP. No idea when it'll happen. My guess is about 1.5 years...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

I read that they are considering a Tesla service center in my city recently. Yay. If all goes well I can get my repairs done in 2-3 years!

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

My car seems to eat through 12v batteries fast even though it goes into a sleep mode more often nowadays than when I first had it. They basically said I'm screwed until they build a service center in Tallahassee or approve a body shop here for repairs. So it's just remaining dirty and broken...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

I've considered other brands. Can't really afford anything right now. EV prices are sky high although they've dropped a little lately. I've also read reviews and seen other EV's in person and the battery tech just isn't as good as Tesla. Tesla tech is still greatly ahead of the competition. A...
