Unloading is always quicker than loading as no need to line cars up or lash down.it all depends on how many drivers and how many decks can be worked at same time. Limiting factor is number of leadsmen guiding cars into position I.e. Closed mirrors and 4 inches or 100MM space between cars

It may be that tesla will continue to export after original deadline as it does not appear likely that China will open up in any meaningful way for tesla deliveries there and tesla may 'kitchen sink' any delivery or cash flow ssues into Q2 . After all tesla is not actually short of cash now...

When cars are loaded they are run with folded mirrors and reverse parked by directions in the rear mirror from stevedore. If they can get fist between cars they are too wide and need reparking . Always reversed In for faster unloading.

Agree life is difficult but any logistics company or transporter delivering cars to Southampton for export would be ecstatic at chance of free load back haul even if took them slightly out of their way. Also because of chip shortage UK car factories are not working at capacity so less demand...

I think he was pointing out the danger of averages. Nissan produces 1000 per day at Sunderland and loads 24 hours per day for UK and export so as each transporter carries 8 cars you only need to load 5 per hour. Job done. Lots of empty transporters at Southampton delivering cars for export.

When we loaded Nissan ex port of Tyne for Australia they always went on top deck as they would be last off but must have caused potential stability issues as we only used to part load the ship. I guess it went to Southampton to take other exports

I guess by now they will have realised that the one off stock pipeline to Europe card cannot be played again so they may as well continue to fulfill all Europe orders that they have and start USA priority from about 10 June. We will see when UK cars arrive.
