Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Update here for Powerwall users with a couple of bug fixes and damping of the green energy amps. When monitoring mine it was suffering from slight delays with the powerwall charging so it was switching between 9A and 6A every 10 seconds. This is fixed by altering the green amps offered by a max...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Mine does it via the API. I don't think there's anything in the code to do it any other way.

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Try this. I was able to repat the problem. It was 7pm here. If I changed my scheduled time that was 00:00 to 07:00 so that it was 16:00 to 07:00 it immediately started the car charging which is not what we want. So it's dark here and so was going from the minimum 6A offered to the charger up to...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Try loggin into the pi with PUTTY and type screen -r twcmanager That will show you the full trace of debug messages. It may be that for some reason the command to stop the car charging did not work. Also check your schedule from the web page. Remember the green energy tracking will not...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Hi Icepicknz, Yes I am getting the same problem where it stops polling for green energy after going through the night. I don't think it's a bug I've introduced but I'm adding some extra logging so I'll track it down and report back once I have a fix. I'll also build in a try...catch so if the...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Hi Nick, My changes were for a Powerwall so you are probably better off using the main TWCManager code. You'll need to change the check-green-energy code to grab details of the usage from your setup.

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Hi Icepicknz, Great that someone the other side of the world can benefit from this too. The forum is great. Yes - I output the main parameters like the grid export amps, current charge amps and calculated green energy as part of the debug level logging so you can see what it's calculating. It...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

I found that because solar amps fluctuates frequently, the car was not starting because TWCManager won't start the car if the desired amps changes within a minute. I have build something in to hold the green amps request steady until we get the car to start charging unless it drops below the 6A...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Amendment to above - adding in power currently charging Powerwall when it reaches the desired limit.

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Hi everyone, I thought I'd share my mods to TWCManager for Powerwall users. Firstly, many thanks to CDragon for this. Basically I wanted to use Excess solar to charge the car but only when the Powerwall couldn't store it. As the Powerwall can charge at lower amps than the car, if you think...

Is it time to reduce the price of Autopilot?

When I ordered my Model S I couldn't justify the extra price of Autopilot for the few times I'd find it useful (I live in the country with windy roads and few road markings). I see that the Nissan Leaf now includes their version, ProPilot, for just £400 (aroung $500) and it does all that I'd...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Thanks for the quick update. Sounds cool. If I find time to play with it I'll update you. I'm looking to develop code so the TWC appears as a discoverable device via SSDP. The plan is to then develop a hub app that finds devices in the home like WEMO switches etc and then allow configuration of...

Tesla development needed for solar+car+powerwall control

I think this is all possible with a bit of coding and by using tricking the Tesla Wall Charger like in the interesting TWCManager example GitHub - cdragon/TWCManager: Control power delivered by a Tesla Wall Charger using two wires screwed into its RS-485 terminals. For my setup, I want to...

Tesla development needed for solar+car+powerwall control

Done some research on this trying to see how I can maxmise use of solar while ensuring I still have enough charge in the Powerwall and car by a set time of day. It seems you can't at the moment unless you use an OpenEVSE charger instead and use code to control the charge rate. Some have modded...

Power Folding Mirror Failure (or User Error)

Tesla still seem to be having problems with passenger door mirrors. Mine had an intermittent fault after a month where the passenger side would sometimes not unfold fully. The Tesla ranger said it was a firmware issue but it felt loose when it had happened so I doubted that. He agreed to replace...

AP2 car without EAP enabled tried to steer with no obstacle

I did not buy EAP because I was worried about the problems I've heard about. On a narrow slipway this morning - about 50mph, wet road and sunny, the car beeped a few times and tried to turn right which would have crashed. Luckily I had my hands firmly on the wheel. Presumably the emergency...

If you're on the fence about ordering a Model S, this may help

A was originally planning on Model 3 but switched. I'm glad I did. I still hope Model 3 is a success but it's more suitable as a second car for us.

If you're on the fence about ordering a Model S, this may help

I picked up my base S75 on Friday from Bristol in England. I originally ordered in May so this has been a long process. Over this time, I religiously pored over forums - mainly this one - looking for details and reassurance that I wasn't missing out on anything. During that time, I went from...

Installation of 3rd party Power Tailgate

Maranaz - a friend of mine runs Clearview in Newbury - Jon Rosier. He's excellent. He does tinting, 3rd party fitments of phone kits etc including for the local Audi and Mercedes dealers. His number is 01635 202626. He's going to be fitting a SunTek paint protection film (PPF) to my new Model S...

Buying EAP should be transportable between Teslas

EAP still seems like an expensive option to me and is of little use on country roads where I live. I am almost tempted though just for playing with the tech. Had a thought though - I think like any software if you buy it you should be able to transfer it to another car at a later date - just...

    BTX8 battery-code on a 75D... or is it a 85D

It looks like they often make mistakes with those codes. I found 9 RWD 75s with DU00 which should be DU01. DU00 is the smaller driver motor used for AWD.
  27. S

    BTX8 battery-code on a 75D... or is it a 85D

I don't think that's the case. Seems pretty random. If you look on TeslaScout here TeslaScout - 5YJSA7E28HF193794 - MODEL_S 75D NEW 2017 - 50 KM 96990 EUR it's a 75D with BTX8 and doesn't have the new drive unit (DU00). Others on there are later and have BTX5. So those BTX8 batteries are still...

1.5% financing ending at 22:00 today

No surprise there then. You expect that kind of thing from double glazing salesmen but not from a company with a reputation to build. Honesty is surely a key requirement for that.

1.5% financing ending at 22:00 today

I heard the same but three months ago from Bristol - that it was ending the next day. It may be they keep renewing it and the centres are not told but also it may just be a sales tactic.
  30. S

    Ordered Model X today!

Congrats on taking the plunge! I went for same colour on my S - coming in a few weeks and can't wait. Regarding the 1.5% - take that with a pinch of salt. When I spoke to sales they told me it was ending in a few days and that was back in May. US interest rates are on the rise though so this...

My Model S has been in transit to the port in the US for over 3 weeks now

Just to help anyone out who may come across this thread - MyTesla is very slow to update. I had an email two weeks ago to say my car was on the ship. MyTesla has still not updated - still says on its way from Fremont to a port in the US.

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

Ha - you may well be right but I'm not ready for that version of the future yet :)
  33. S

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

It's not a sedan shape though, is it? It's more of a Coupe and every Coupe I've has has had a hatch. I'm sure it will be a perfect car for many but for me, it's just not a great fit and I was hoping for more.
  34. S

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

I went for the S. Thought about keeping my reservation but no key fob was the last straw. Too much of a weirdmobile for me. These were my main disappointments: No glass roof as standard - I felt it was always implied this would be included No key fob - I don't want to carry around a massive...

    Interested in Selling Model 3?

I probably won't go through with mine as I have an S coming but I think by the time they come to the UK there will be high volume production so not much of a queue for new orders so no profit to be made.
  36. S

Why Model 3 is the better car than Model S

Yeah - keep kidding yourself. You'll think differently once your neck starts hurting from looking at the middle screen all the time

Model S (with no add-ons) or nothing!

Seriously - you need to contact your salesperson then. You should have a £2500 discount at least. Yours should be more because of the EAP price drop. Not joking - message me directly if you like and you can refer to my order with Tesla. On the forums everyone who had not yet taken delivery was...

After the M3 Reveal, Who Regrets Their Recent Model S Purchase?

Waiting for my Model S to be delivered next month. I don't regret it at all - really glad I changed my mind and went for the S. The Model 3 is disappointing in many ways, especially the interior. I really thought the steering controls were going to be amazing after Elon's comment but it's barely...

Model S (with no add-ons) or nothing!

PR10 - I'm in the same boat, buying same car through Ltd company. My take on it was this: I have gone for a 2 year PCP deal as a business purchase. I will then buy the privately from the company after the 2 years for the price Tesla quote. If you add EAP after, you get a VAT invoice and can...

My Model S has been in transit to the port in the US for over 3 weeks now

The MAERSK Kentucky left Houston yesterday and I thought mine would be on there but MyTesla gives me the same old message. Did any of you notice delays in the MyTesla status being updated when you ordered yours?

POLL: What happens to Model S resale prices with Model 3 release?

Model 3 will act like a massive advertising campaign for Model S. People will start to see friends with Model 3 and how they can live with electric charging, but then think wow - if only I could have something more exclusive, with more storage, a proper dashboard and a hatchback. Oh, they do a...
