Doing a brake job myself help please

Because people were asking about bleeding... Bleeding is pretty simple, but it is a process. It is best to bleed all four wheels if you have cracked any of the bleed valves. Some may argue against that, especially if you are only working on one caliper, but sometimes and air bubble can get...

Doing a brake job myself help please

Might as well throw my two cents in here. I am an ASE certified mechanic. Used it to put myself through college then used that to be a maintenance officer in the Army. Let's put a few of these incorrect comments to rest... 1. Brakes are easy. Yes they are. They are only a step above oil change...

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

I would agree with SocalMS. The Seattle SC is pretty good, and their Manager really knows his stuff and cares. But, Its been hit an miss with some of the general techs. They major issue is time delay for parts and long wait times to get an appointment.

Problem is with our suspensions it doesn't take much, (I personally disassembled mine on the P85 and showed the SC the bent control arm). They have two front lower control arms and the front link doesn't take much to bend. The SC even said small potholes have bent the front (front of the two)...

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

Just poking fun... Anyways. I have sat and watched the delivery drivers offload cars, while.its not super harsh, I don't think it takes much to knock these aluminum chassis cars out of alignment. If it's not the delivery, then factory alignments really stink!

I wondered who would be the first spelling troll... My phone kept changing hangar to hanger... But I digrass. *See what I did there* =p

The A/C Vibration carried itself through to the steering wheel. But, that was on an early VIN car. They have since changed the Compressor and mounting design. You may have a A/C coolant hose touching the body and it's vibrating when the compressor is activated or you may have a loose mounting...

Tesla's Autopilot needs to be shut down and NHTSA needs to do their due diligence

Is it me or am I the only one that doesn't really care that AP2 doesn't work yet. Ill tell you what I miss, rain sensing wipers. I spent 20 minutes in a light mist wondering why my wipers where being stupid before I remembered that "feature" was not working yet! I guess I am the stupid one...

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

@SageBrush Also as a member of the Armed Forces, you have defined Hanger Queen exactly as I meant. While my P85 wasn't "cannibalized" or "controlled Substitution" (as they say these days to be more PC), it sure felt like it. Here is a small list of what had to be done to my P85 (it was a CPO...

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

I'll have to start a whole thread on why I gave up my P85. But in summary: "She was a gorgeous lady, but an absolute hanger queen"

I also think the alignment gets jacked up going on and off the delivery truck. I don't think the service centers do another alignment right after delivery (prior to delivery to owner) even though I was told they do.

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

@sshah I think the S60 (software limited 75) is a pretty good deal when compared to my 85. My 85 would go 270 miles @100% charge. Which of course which shortens the life, so I went with the Tesla recommended 80% charge. This equaled daily usable limit of 215-220 miles. The new S60D can go 100%...

Correction: "Note taking a side on the following issue, but I am not sure a possible UAW takeover will NOT make QC any better."

@G77P I would certainly think it would catch up with them. Honestly, I just think they are growing faster than the can account for. We all know that the model 3 will strain the service centers and supercharger network. They are already building new superchargers, but I have heard little about...

Couple of thoughts on Quality Control on new Teslas

*steps on soap box* Just ended up purchasing my third Tesla. First was a 2014 s85 with AP1, second a 2013 P85, and now a 2017 60D AP2. Obviously, I like Tesla's (enough to buy three of them), but I got to say I am a little disappointed in new production QC. As a disclaimer, Tesla is going to...

    Don't get 21" wheels

I and a p85 with 21" wheels. Bent them twice on a 1 inch deep pothole. After $400 in repairs, I made sure my new Tesla had 19's. Not to mention 21s have a ton more road noise. They looked awesome, but totally not worth the pain. I think handling performance increase was negligible at best. JMHO.
