Non Tesla Charging at Tesla Supercharger station

Now that Tesla is removing the bump stops, could a Nissan pull in forward far enough to allow the cable to reach the charge port? Assuming the charge port is not located too far back on the passenger front side of a vehicle, Tesla vehicles that back in to charge should not be blocked for charging.

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

It is my understanding the older V3 Wall Connector works with Powershare if you have any version of Powerwall? If you do NOT have a Powerwall, you will need the newer Universal Wall Connector and the new V3 Gateway? Does anyone know exactly what the internal electrical differences are between...

M3 waking more often with version 2024.2.4 or 2024.2.6 firmware

Yes I remember when that was happening. I made many posts at that time regarding the issue. Were you the one working with Tesla to resolve the issue with the phone app? If so, they made you do everything but stand on your head trying to solve the issue; likewise, if memory serves, it took...

M3 waking more often with version 2024.2.4 or 2024.2.6 firmware

May have found what is waking the car. I have an iPhone and my wife has an Android both set up to not update the Tesla app automatically. I have another iPhone I use for other debugging purposes and that updates the Tesla app automatically. A few weeks back I turned off Bluetooth access on...

16v Lithium battery Weber State Video

Yes the Bluetooth voltage monitor/logger does work connected to the 16V battery. Since it draws appox 2ma the car can sleep almost five days as opposed to six plus days not connected. My 2018 Model 3 never slept more than 31 hours.

2023 Model 3 has not awaken in almost 5 days to top off the LV battery, normal?

Update to info in this thread. About a month back, according to EEVEE, the car started to wake randomly once or twice a day. I did see a small drop in the SOC so the EEVEE app appears to have been correct. I have performed some debugging and have yet to pinpoint what is causing the car to...

Can anyone post MSRP shown on Nevada registration for Cybertruck

Since MSRP is used to calculate the lions share of registration fees for several years, I would greatly appreciate it if someone who has taken delivery and registered Cybertruck post the MSRP shown on the top of the registration form. I am weighing whether to pull the trigger on ordering the FS...

    Supercharger - Clovis, NM

We made the trip between Santa Rosa and Lubbock the 2nd and 3rd week of October 2023. We made it both ways but I did watch the speed and we had no significant headwinds. On the way back, after reaching around 90% SOC, Tesla navigation recommended we route to Tucumcari, NM instead of the more...

Will Other Car Companies Standardize Charge Port Location?

Agree, front passenger side would work. Regarding Tesla's choose of port location, IMO backing in is slightly safer than backing out.

Will Other Car Companies Standardize Charge Port Location?

We can only hope they do what you suggest in a fairly timely manner. When a Chevy bolt pulls in and parks two spaces to the right of the pictured Mustang (for convenience and to minimize the chance of door bashing), that is when the fun starts. The Bolt will take about the same time to charge...

Battery Pre heat Charge Time Saved Supercharging

I agree with your last paragraph but also think Telsa probably priorities getting you down the road as fast as possible even though charging with a slightly cooler battery might not effect long term degradation. My 2018 RWD Model 3, when properly pre-conditioned prior to DC fast charging, would...

    Cybertruck Range Edmunds Test

With a blue bar of 20-30%, I assume the traction battery was very cold? I have read that the battery might now be actively warmed while driving and this might have changed in the past year? If the traction battery were way colder than 32F, acceleration might be very limited to a point of being...

    Cybertruck Range Edmunds Test

I have been using the EEVEE app to track when our new 2023 Model 3 wakes since the end of June 2023 . Until about two weeks ago, (AFAIK) it only woke when new firmware was downloaded or it was parked for more than six days; however, about two weeks ago it started to wake randomly while parked...

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

Sure wish Tesla would show the temperature of the traction battery onscreen like they show the cabin and outdoor ambient temp. The service menu shows the battery temp but this is only accessible when parked. Always liked a temp gauge in an ICE vehicle instead of or in addition to the engine...

M3 waking more often with version 2024.2.4 or 2024.2.6 firmware

Still troubleshooting this new waking issue. I left my iPhone powered off while my 2023 Model 3 was parked for 4+ days and verified the car did not wake that entire time using my Bluetooth Monitor battery monitor. Powered on my phone while standing next to the car and that woke up the car...

Something appears to have changed with the last or previous firmware update. Now something related to my iPhone 7 or an app on the...

    12v System Failure While Driving

Most of the PCS failures I have read about in this forum are related to the AC charging section of the board. I believe the PCS also performs a DC-to-DC boost (12/16V to pack voltage) function to pre-charge the high voltage buss to the pack voltage prior to closing the contactors.

Is it possible to enable Sentry mode for pre-defined hours?

Has anyone documented the power usage for the following. Tesla Battery Preconditioning: When, How, and Why You Should Do It

When Tesla first started preconditioning around 2019, my 2018 Model 3 would arrive with the battery cell temps around 90F (verified by SMT). A year plus later the arrival cell arrive temps were closer to 110F. I did not notice any significant change in charging times/speeds between the arrival...

Questions about “fast charge contactor” and “high voltage controller” replacement service to fix supercharging issues

I also received a message after a recent firmware install indicating a need to charge due to low HV battery. The battery SOC was around 65%. I checked a few minutes later and the message to charge had vanished. Can Tesla pull a message after sending it? The car is not having any issues after...

Anyone using a Bluetooth Battery Monitor on a 16V equipped Tesla in a cold climate

Another way of monitoring what goes on with charging of a very cold 16 volt low voltage battery would be to view the voltage and SOC in the service menu. These parameters would need to be viewed immediately after the HV contactors closed.

Anyone using a Bluetooth Battery Monitor on a 16V equipped Tesla in a cold climate

I believe most of the low cost 12V Bluetooth Battery Monitors work up to 16V; therefore, most should work to monitor the new 16V lithium batteries in the newer Tesla vehicles (mine does). My Tesla is not exposed to temps below 32F so I can't verify the following. It appears the 16V battery...

    Something leaking???

Tesla won't charge with mobile charger

I have never been in a position to test 120V/12A charging with a very cold traction battery. Given a 2018 Model 3 RWD can send 4kW of energy to the rear motor stator winding for battery heating, is the car not smart enough to only use available power from the wall 1.4kW and not ALSO use an...

    Defrost without charging?

I believe you can also set up the Wall Connector to not deliver any power unless it matches the VIN number(s) entered into the Wall Connector? Switching the VIN number back and forth would be more of a pain but it might be useful in some strange use-case.

2023 RWD LFP Model 3 Defrost Mode Wall Connector observed shore power usage and questions

Forgot to mention that the traction battery cell temps were around 50F so no active battery warming should have been involved in my previous post. I raised the SOC level to 100% and verified my normal max charge rate of 31mph then lowered it back to 50% prior to the above energy usage tests...

    L1 UMC charging question

Since code allows 5-15 receptacles on a 20A circuit, could he replace that first receptacle with a 5-20 if that run is protected by a 20A breaker using 12/10 gauge wire? Can 5-20 receptacles be daisy chained on a 20A breaker protected circuit?

I left my lights in overnight

With the headlights on the car should not be allowed to sleep. Ideally the car should go to sleep and turn the headlights off. The power drawn from the HV traction battery while awake is somewhere between 200-250W. So the power used per day could be as much a 6kWh which would last less than...

    Ask before supercharging

Thanks for the reply. Did you happen to verify the temp using SMT or the service menu screen? Warming the battery to just above freezing makes some sense because you will have reasonable acceleration. I have read many forum posts where posters indicated 50F which did not make much sense to me.

Slow charging woes at home charger

If the traction battery were cold enough the car could display 12/48a or 7/48a etc.. with part or all of the 12a/7a of energy going towards battery heating. If the miles/hr onscreen display is lower than charging at 48a normally displays, then part of the amps drawn from the wall is warming the...

Chicago area superchargers failing in cold

When the traction batteries are cold soaked where they can't accept a charge, the Supercharger is basically a L2 charger. The Cybertruck club could give them enough L2 energy to warm the battery enough so when plugged into a Supercharger miles would be added after a shorter period of time...

Does Model 3 US Highland version have the dumbed down sound system?

Does Model 3 US Highland version have the dumbed down sound system?

Since the price of the US version of the Model 3 Highland (that just went on sale in the US) is the same as the old version, I assume it will not be getting the premium 17 speaker two sub-woofer sound system? If it does, that would make it an even more attractive purchase!. I believe the fog...
