2nd Row Seat Rocking in My 2016 MX90D

I know this thread is a little old but I have this on my seats, early build 2016 Model X.

Are wind noises fixed under warranty for free or do they charge for it? (Wind noise from triangle piece on drivers door)

Do you happen to have the part numbers for this? I have a 2016 that suffers from wind noise and would like to try and replace these seals. It's literally the only thing that bothers us about the car.

LFP Battery Pack compatible with early Model 3 (2017-18)

Someone on my local facebook Tesla group had their 2018 Model 3 battery go kaput right out of warranty at 132k miles. Tesla is quoting them $15k for replacement so they're looking at third party options for replacement. One thought i had was why not swap out the pack for a used one from a...

Center Screen is leaking adhesive gel from the bottom

You are in LA. There are plenty of third parties that can do the replacement for cheaper than Tesla. https://qccharge.com/pages/service-your-ev https://www.evfixme.com/ There are probably others too...

Adding side repeater cameras to AP1 vehicles

This is kind of a niche question for those with AP1. Is it possible to install and wire the side repeater cameras from AP2 cars and enable them so they come up when putting the car into reverse? I don't care much about them coming up when using turn signals or sentry mode or anything else. It...

Center Screen is leaking adhesive gel from the bottom

I heard someone here tried to drain all the adhesive gel and trying to put it back together but not sure how successful it was. It's either screen replacement or bite the bullet and go with the MCU2 upgrade. There might be third parties that can do the replacement for cheaper than Tesla...

    MCU Upgrade - 2016 Model X AP1

The kind of nice thing about the radio upgrade is that the cost is the same ($500) whether you do it at the same time as the MCU or later on. So if you don't get it done initially and find that you really want it, you can get it done later for the same cost (Assuming they don't raise the cost .)

    MCU Upgrade - 2016 Model X AP1

Thoughts after the upgrade? We have an AP1 Model X as well and I want to do the upgrade as well since we plan to keep it for the long run. I heard a small change is that it shows traffic data on the driver's display map when navigating to a destination.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

I just want a hardwired inverter that I can use in an emergency to power a fridge, a few lights, or maybe a small mini-split depending on the weather. Hyundai and Kia do it so come on Tesla, is that too much to ask?

Falcon Wing Door Glass Seal deteriorating

Technically not 4 extra years, but 4 years or 50k miles from purchase so pretty close. It was an early AP1 2016 model with 33k miles, ordered in late December 2019 and picked up early January 2020 so my CPO warranty is valid until January 2024 or 83k miles. Later that same month, Tesla...

Falcon Wing Door Glass Seal deteriorating

Sounds good. I'll take another look at the seals and put this in as a service request along with a few other things in a few months. I bought my 2016 Model X the last month that Tesla offered a bumper to bumper 4 year-50k mile warranty effective from time of purchase on used cars they sold...

    Seat heaters - how hot?

Let us know what you hear. I've noticed that the front passenger seat does not get nearly as the other seats and have wondered if this is worth bringing up as a service issue.

Falcon Wing Door Glass Seal deteriorating

I have a 2016 X 75D and around 9 months left on my CPO warranty. I've noticed that the seals are very sticky to the touch but they have not deteriorated like I've seen in some pictures posted in this thread. We garage our car so I assume that is what has helped over the years. Is it worth...

    Tinting rear window

Can't comment on cracking but the defroster lines are delicate as hell. I got my tint done and found a few creases in the rear window. The shop said that they could redo it but the defroster lines would most likely come off enough to where it will no longer work. Definitely find a shop...

Tint shop destroyed back window defroster lines

Same thing happened to me; got some tint done recently and there were creases in the tint on the rear glass and I said I wanted it redone . Sadly the shop warned me that they might be a small chance of the lines coming off. I had never heard of this happening before on any cars I've previously...

Model X falcon wing door water intrusion when opening doors in rain

After two years of ownership, I've experienced intermittent rain intrusion via the FWD. What I observed is that when the car sits in rain and the rain collects on top of the FWD in large drops, that's when I get the worst intrusion, especially when i get rain after a good cleaning of the glass...

New Owner Here, Bought a 2013 S85 with Massive Issues and Need Guidance.

Random question and sorry if this sounds dumb but can you replace the LDU with an SDU? I know one uses coolant vs the other using oil and I'm sure it would be underpowered like a ton but is it possible?

Time for a new HV Battery

I would like to think they're doing that but my cynicism gets the better of me. It wouldn't surprise me if the refurbishment process is very minimal or non-existent and Tesla is desperately buying (hoarding) as many packs as they can get their hands on to support cars these earlier cars that...

    Just bought a 2015 85d w/180k miles

Can you take a peek at the sticker on the battery pack and post the part number here? It's typically visible behind the passenger front wheel. That should give you an idea of the age of the pack. If it's the original pack, I recommend you jumping on to 057 Tech's Extended Battery Warranty...

Can no longer charge at home with Tesla Wall Connector

If you're feeling adventurous, you can see if replacing the fuses fixes the issue. Parts including the fuses, multimeter, and HV gloves ended up being around $100. Whole process took me 4 hours cause I had a hard time removing and reinstalling the rear seat backs.

2014 S-85 is battery replacement worth it?

Have you reached out to any of the third party battery replacement outfits? There's one in San Marcos, TX that could be cheaper than going through the Tesla Service Center. https://recell-ev.com/ Another outfit is 057 Technology They also offer battery replacement but will buy your bricked...

Can no longer charge at home with Tesla Wall Connector

Had the same issue a while back. AC Charging was busted (Level 1 and Level 2) but Supercharging, which is DC, worked just fine. A fuse in the onboard Charger had failed and needed to be replaced. I had to DIY the repair since Tesla replaces the entire charger vs just the fuses.

    DIY Tesla Drive Unit Repair

Can anyone recommend a good time to do any kind of preventative care or modification? I have a 2013 P85 with 140k miles. LDU sounds great but I worry about it's longevity (along with the HV battery) and I want to so what ever I can to prevent any issues down the road. If there's anyone in...

Gen 1 console conversion to 2016+

    bubbles on touchscreen

I got my main touchscreen covered under the CPO warranty as well, and it was just one slight bubble that popped up. And that glue that is leaking is conductive, so if any of it gets into the circuits behind the screen it won't be good news. I now have an appointment to change out my IC...

Retrofits and Upgrades that we have done! Any other retrofits you have done or like for us to do?

Pinging @wk057 as well to find out if any AP1 retrofits performed have been disabled, regardless of MCU version. I'm okay keeping MCU1 (if that helps) but I will hold off on getting the AP1 retrofit done until there's a 100% firm solution to this.

Retrofits and Upgrades that we have done! Any other retrofits you have done or like for us to do?

So your AP1 was working fine and enabled until you contacted Tesla for an MCU2 upgrade? And they locked you out of AP1 before the upgrade even took place? That really sucks.

Retrofits and Upgrades that we have done! Any other retrofits you have done or like for us to do?

Retrofits and Upgrades that we have done! Any other retrofits you have done or like for us to do?

I have OpenPilot setup and it's alright but it's not the same (big unit on windshield, no braking control (just regen), etc.) especially compared to my wife's X with AP1. How much of the $10k is the windshield replacement? With car prices the way they are (especially with Tesla), I'm thinking...

Model X owners - what other vehicles did you consider?

We took delivery of our 2016 X 75D in January 2020 direct from Tesla. We lucked out as our vehicle came with the 4 year 50k mile used warranty, free unlimited supercharging, and lifetime premium connectivity. At time time, my wife needed a 7-passenger vehicle and she loved driving my Model S...

Unlimited supercharging unavailable for model x

    Car Unable to Charge

2013 S P85 with 135k miles and same symptoms as many listed before but when it first happened, my UMC was flashing 3 red lights; I had just finished charging my other Tesla with it and it was pretty hot to the touch. I think it overheated and blew the fuse in question. I unplugged and used it...

Keeping my Model S as she ages

2013 s P85 with over 130k miles. I'm pretty handy and plan to keep my car on the road as long as I can. I just purchased the extended warranty from @wk057 and I am interested in performing some retrofits as I can afford them: AP1 (mostly for ACC), Rear Heated Seats, MCU2 (or whatever...

Service says $22k for new battery on 2012 Model S

This makes me slightly hopeful that someone may come up with an aftermarket replacement battery one day but in all honesty, this will probably not happen for these old S and X vehicles. It will be more worthwhile to develop aftermarket solutions for the Model 3/Y due to the sheer volume of...

Parts list and instructions to add 2016+ center console into 2012-2016 MS

As far as parts and processes go, that should all be outlined in my above posts. eBay is where I sourced most of my parts - you could also look on TMC for anyone parting out a 2016+ Model S/X too. The only other tip I have besides the above is if you decide to use a 12V USB hub to power the...

    Polyurethane Suspension Bushings - Quest

Parts list and instructions to add 2016+ center console into 2012-2016 MS

That's why I just added the cup holders; I liked the airy feel too. You can probably sell your center console and go back to an open floor; I've found the interior bits are pretty interchangeable with just minor adjustments.

Parts list and instructions to add 2016+ center console into 2012-2016 MS

There are two modifications you have to do parts to make this work and they basically are to make the older parts fit with the newer ones and are not related to the USB ports at all. epc.tesla.com has a lot of great diagrams that should help you follow along. 1. On the new Center Console...

    Inside door sensors

Looking at the parts diagram on epc.tesla.com, it looks like they just added a parking sensor facing the inside of the door panel on the FWD - part number 1099611-00-D - but I can't tell how it's mounted. You'll also need a new harnesses to support the additional sensors; I see pairs of part...
