Six months of Tesla Bot timeline

Just a reminder, in only 6 months we've gone from the introduction of an idea, with a promised prototype in 2022, to the (optimistic) possibility of production in 2023. Even if production doesn't take place until 2024, or even 2025, this is wildly faster than even the most die-hard Tesla fans...

Utter disbelief at the yoke buttons

There is no drive/reverse issue, it's easy to use. I haven't tried the 'predictive' function yet, which may make it even easier. I've tried the palm thing to blow the horn, but it didn't work. I've brushed against turn signals, but more because of learning to turn the yoke. Elon, if you're...

Utter disbelief at the yoke buttons

I'm a Tesla apologist for the most part, but I'm astounded at the lack of physical buttons on the yoke. Three weeks in, and I still need to LOOK DOWN to accurately press the horn and lights buttons. The turn signals, which have a physical divider between them, are only marginally better. At...

Goof off poll: Which will come first: FSD or A.I. Bot in your home?

Even if the Bot isn't available until 2024, this makes it even more likely we get Bot before Robotaxi.

Goof off poll: Which will come first: FSD or A.I. Bot in your home?

Optimistically, the Bot prototype is revealed EOY 2022, and is sold in 2023. Will FSD robotaxis be operating by EOY 2023? My guess is yes, but only in select urban centers in the US. I could envision taking delivery of my Bot before experiencing a robotaxi.

Why is Tesla service department (SD) customer service so bad?

I've been a long time owner, and this is a sad fact. Literally every part of Tesla Service is just as bad as it was in 2015. From communication, to sourcing parts, Tesla just doesn't not have this figured out. The service center employees are overworked and under-motivated to make the experience...

    Super Bulls Only

I've been a superbull since 2015, but this is my first post in this forum. In fact, I stumbled across this forum for the first time and read every post since the beginning. And what an auspicious time, with the SP closing with a (post-split) price of $1114. What strikes me, is that the major...

I appreciate some of your optimism here, but August is 2 weeks away. And we've had what, 2 or 3 video sightings of test mules to date? I think it would be miraculous if ANY X's come off the line before 2022.

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

I'm hoping we get some information about the delay during the earnings conference call this week, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't. As we are all aware, the Model S and X are now relatively insignificant to the present and future of Tesla earnings. They are the flagship vehicles...

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

There's 19 days left in the month, and there have been only a couple sightings of refreshed X's around Fremont? I think its a safe bet that no customer will take delivery in April. Maybe Steve Jurvetson will get his. May or June? We would need to see more sightings on public roads, across the...

At Delivery, Will Tesla Replace Wheels on Already-built New Cars?

No, unfortunately they won't. You would have to schedule an entirely new service appointment to get the wheels installed.

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

You have to add three to six months to this date to get your real delivery date. Its been this way for every new model since the beginning of Tesla. They should definitely lose this, as well as the pricing ruse where they deduct "potential savings" from gas etc. Cheap tricks are beneath the brand.

    New S/X "Gear Shifts"

There is an inexorable march towards full-time, full self-driving, and Elon is pushing it hard. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer a physical lever to change gears. When I'm trying to escape an attacker, I don't want to be fumbling on a touchscreen.
  20. HabitualUser

Have you seen a refreshed Model S/X in person?

It's definitely possible. My theory is from an Elon tweet, saying that full Autopilot would be vision-only, no radar. Thus more robust cameras are needed. I don't know much about self-driving, but I think I'd prefer to have radar included, especially for fog and bad weather.

2021 refresh Model S sightings, steering yoke vs. steering wheel discussion

Man, a surprising amount of Tesla hate on this thread... Anyways, the yoke is coming for all plaid variants - deal with it. Why would Tesla be afraid of any alleged NHTSA opinion? They are toothless. Look at Autopilot - especially with the beta-testing of the newest build - do you think NHTSA...

Have you seen a refreshed Model S/X in person?

Too bad the glare prevents seeing if there's a yoke wheel. I'd be surprised if there was, considering the MS plaids we've seen all had standard wheels. It'll be nice to see the first yoke wheel in the wild though, either S or X.

Have you seen a refreshed Model S/X in person?

Elon mentioned on Joe Rogan that the Plaid Model S would first be ready this month. I'd imagine the first Model X's will show up in March. Hopefully they funnel some to reviewers soon, so we can see youtube vids.

Buying another Model X: Is it possible to take delivery at a different service center?

It's partially due to spite, as I didn't appreciate how unaccomodating the salespeople were at my original service center. But it's not a big difference for me to go to this different center, it's barely further away. At some point in the online ordering experience, is there a place to select...

    Tesla courtesy cars

Remember when Elon promised the highest-end flagship Teslas would be given as loaners for service appointments? Seems like this is highly rare, and even getting an old Model S is unlikely. 3rd-party Wheel Options

Let's say I'm not happy with the 3 current wheel options Tesla offers for Model X. Which 3rd-party vendor would you choose to buy rims? What should I know regarding staggering, or anything else with non-stock wheels? Would Tesla install them before/after delivery?
  29. HabitualUser

    Is this the end?

Yes, although the new is not all positive. The price drops across the entire range seems to be an adjustment to demand, which could be the economy (auto sector is weaker) or within Tesla, neither which are good. Yet dropping the stores, many of which are in high-rent leases in nice malls, is a...

    The Ludicrous Cubby Flyout Situation

Has There Ever Been a More Polarizing Company?

The unwavering short-sellers think the stock should be in the single digits, and eventually zero. I'm pleased to report an improvement in most aspects of the Service Center experience. What happened to dash cam recording that elon promised?

Just like in a third-party dashcam chip, it only saves recent video, and tapes over previous recordings. If there's an accident or whatever, you download that particular clip. The flash chip degrades after awhile, however, and must be replaced.

What happened to dash cam recording that elon promised?

It would be really nice to have this native Tesla app. I have a Blackvue, but I'd prefer the smooth interface I'm sure the Tesla dashcam app would have. Is it really all that difficult to develop this software? I don't code, but I assume recording and archiving video is fairly straightforward...

    Joining the X family

Also something that's rarely mentioned is that the easier driver-side entry and exit, as it sits much higher than the S. For old folks like us, that's an added plus to switching from the S. I personally found the S very low to the ground, and thus more difficult to enter and exit.

Tesla enclaves in the US: Bay Area California - ground zero LA South Florida NYC and surrounding areas - though small compared to population size Greater DC area I'd bet 95% of Teslas are owned within these areas. Except that these instances of inconvenience have been well-documented since the beginning of Tesla. You knew the risks going in, and accepted them anyway when you made the purchase.
